I gave birth to my son at this hospital in 2014. The maternity ward staff were friendly.

Service is poor, expect long queues. Treatment by doctors is satisfactory.

I was in for a cesarean and it was a good experience. The maternity ward staff and operating doctors were ever so helpfull and not to mention friendly. They dont have all they need but they do try to help everyone. Some of the patients just make it hard to enjoy the stay but for the staff A service.

Overrun with patients; dirty; bad food; doctors that just are plain wrong with diagnosis' and advise; and probably one of the most horrific experiences of my life; RUN elsewhere Makes me SERIOUSLY question my vote for the DA - they need to JACK up the Western Cape Governments' running of the HealthCare system. It is SHOCKING.

This was the worst evening of my life. May none of my family members ever pass away in the Emergency Room at this hospital.
My mother was taken by ambulance at about 10 in the morning. She was lying on the trolley till she passed away between 02.00 and 03.00 in the early hours of 5 September 2017.
A 93 year old lady busy dying. What a shame. Just lying there. The most unfriendly staff as far as the security was concerned. No empathy at all.
How absolutely ridiculous, that it was not permissible for me and my husband to stand in silence next to her trolley and just hold her hand and and wipe her face with a wet cloth while she was having a temperature and wanted to cool down. asked for water.
More disgusting was the fact that I was then instructed to go and sit between the sick people in the waiting room where I could not see her, and had the chance of getting infected with all the germs between the sick patients. I left my dear dying mother due to this, and she had to pass on all on her own with nobody to comfort her. What a disgrace and shame.
You have the most beautiful ideas on the wall of caring but that is exactly what it is . A lot of wonderful words on a piece of paper stuck on a wall.
No caring for and empathy.
Our hearts are broken for our mother who had to leave this world in such a lonesome unsympathetic way.

160 bed State District level Hospital. Anticipate waiting time at the Emergency Centre.

Some staff are great, and Doctors also - but the service, waiting time, facility hygiene and neatness are appalling! Reshuffle and firing of the appropriate state appointed management is desperately needed!

State hospital, good service but be prepared to wait for it. Best option is to get referral from doctor and arrange appointment though no guarantee of time.
