On a visit from Durban, we decided to pay the famous bakery a visit. Had to weave through insane traffic to get there before closing time. I didnt find there to be as many variants as expected. Mostly cookies and cupcakes, I believe though it was due to my visiting it so late in the afternoon. They're priced a tad on the high side but I expect this is the norm for TV based famous bakeries. I had a slice of caramel cheesecake and hubby the blueberry one. It was theeee most divine cheesecake experience I have had yet. Enjoyed the taste, portion size was reasonable and it came in the cutest little pink striped box. Overall my visit was fair and enjoyed the visit.

Sugar heads heaven. Will definitely leave on a sugar rush. Pretty store, various eats on display to keep your mind off the ques when busy. Everything in there is worth the wait.

What a treat! Literally, we visited over Halloween time and they had loads of Halloween treats to buy ;)
There is so much effort and creativity which goes into their cakes and biscuits. The variety is vast and a sense of fun all around. The best is the Oompa Lumpas (the staff), all beautiful people. The counter staff have a great sense of humour.response / report this review -

I saw Charly's Bakery on T.V once and went to try it out. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the cakes and cupcakes were delicious. I highly recommend going to Charly's Bakery for the best cake and awesome experience.

I love Charly's cupcakes since the first time I tried them about 10 years ago. I don't live in SA anymore, but the lovely staff at Charly's helped me organize a shipment of these beautiful and delicious cupcakes to a friend who had just had a baby. It was so easy to do and they were so helpful and quick to respond. I'm confident that the taste is amazing and now I know their customer service is on par! Thank you, Charly's!!!

Daniella at Charly's Bakery is so wonderful! I'm an office manager based out of San Francisco, but we have an employee in Cape Town and it was his birthday a week ago. I was in such a panic, scrambling to find a place to make him a cake and deliver it in a few days time. Luckily, Daniella responded and was incredibly helpful throughout the process. I didn't get to taste the cake myself but I heard it was delicious!

Unpleasant experience. Bought over R250 worth of cupcakes and I only had R100 note to pay for a 50c plastic bag. Yes, I had to pay for the bag! One of the
younger daughters(very curly hair) sarcastically commented that she would "empty the till out" in order to give me change for my R100 tender. Sadly, now that the fame has gone so has the service. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING!!!response / report this review -

This a cool little bakery that has some very funny messages on the cookies! The cookies, apple tart, and cappuccino we had were great!
One thing to mention is that there is no WiFi, not at all a bad thing but I know it's a concern to some.response / report this review -

Charly's is a great place to check out. The place is always packed and the decorations are awesome. It is painted really nicely on the outside with all of these pastel colors. The baked goods are yummy and it is just really fun.

Delicious cakes, great coffee and scrumptious cookies, including very friendly "oompa loompa" staff. All round great experience! Only difficulty was parking in the area, like all shops in and around cape town cbd. But don't let that stop you from getting here and enjoying the delicious eats!

Lots of cupcakes, cookies and humungous slices of cake. They had one gluten free option - a lemon meringue cupcake - and whilst there's no choice if you're gluten free it was delicious, with lemon curd filling inside.
