  Service, atmosphere and the staff get 5 absolute stars. The food however is abysmal. I consider myself pretty adventurous in trying new foods. However, everything our party of 5 tried was not to our liking. The pasta dishes were not American nor Italian. The bone marrow was good but definitely not an entree with such a small portion. It came with a side of chopped raw onions! What!!!! The octopus was actually good and I suggest trying that for sure if you end up going here. Overall I think it's worth giving this place a try if you are not crazy hungry in case you didn't enjoy the food!

  My absolute favorite restaurant in Traverse City. I know the prices seem high, and the menu can look a bit adventurous and scary. But it is absolutely amazing! I have traveled all over the US and Europe, and Trattoria Stella is in my top 10 fave places I have EVER eaten. Staff is great, friendly and knows their stuff. Many of the ingredients used are from local farms and businesses. I have not had one bad meal here yet. And the building itself is just great, and the atmosphere fun and intimate. I posted a pic of the appetizer we got, a bone marrow spread. I know it sounds a bit much, but it was absolutly phenomenal!

  Now this was a great restaurant.
  Reservations, especially on the weekends and during the summer, highly recommended!
  The food was amazing. And the best part was our awesome server or as I would say guide, Sara.
  Definitely recommend this place if you’re in TC.
  I’d make a trip just for dinner.

  My wife has eaten scallops all over the US; these were the best she's had. I had an amazing pork chop. It's farm-to-table; everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. Kathy and Taylor took excellent care of us.

  Excellent. We enjoyed the menu offerings. A variety of dishes from pasta to pork to seafood. Relieved there were options for children. The kids pasta was over ladened with sauce with little pasta. The server brought out more pasta at no charge. The cod was delicate and savory. The risotto a little over done but incredibly savory. Best Cosmo I've ever had with the lemon infused wheat vodka. Ambience was perfection with acoustic guitar in the bar area. A little pricey but service was impeccable.

  Took my wifey out for a date a couple weeks back. I can honestly say that I have never had a better overall dining experience. Our server, Stuart, treated us with a great deal of respect and didn't do the standard barge-in during conversation to see how we were doing but demonstrated a sixth sense concerning when we did have a question. We didn't have to wait for drinks or refills, and the food was outstanding. I was accidentally served a Founder's KBS in lieu of a Founder's Breakfast Stout (heartbreaker, I know), and instead of modifying the tab to reflect this, he just took it off entirely for the mistake. Will continue to frequent. If you're looking for fine dining with a truly different experience in Traverse City, this is your place.

  Great treatment, great experience. You can tell by the apps from the start of the night that these cooks know how to cook!!! Food was very high quality

  The food was fantastic! I sat at the bar and Adam suggested everything from the drink to the main course. He really knows his drinks. I ordered a Sloe Gin Fizz based in his recommendation. It was the best! I was reluctant to try it because it was made with egg whites but I'm glad I did! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

  We went there on our honeymoon, and the food and service were amazing! We were recommended it by James Rigato, a James Beard nominated chef, who was on Top Chef Boston.
  We are going back and I highly recommend Trattoria Stella to anyone looking to have an incredible fine dining experience!
