We have had mussels at least 100 times, but these were simply the best ever. Perfect size, fresh, perfectly cooked, simple elegant broth -- and one of the very few restaurants that serve it with a soup spoon so you can enjoy it to the fullest. The salads and main courses were sublime and divine . . . But the pièce de resistance was the lavender custard with (strawberry) port wine reduction sauce. Heavenly only begins to describe it! We will make this restaurant a MUST when we are back in Traverse City.
Fantastic from the moment we walked in the door! True French atmosphere, very close seating which led to conversations with the next door neighbors. We had the cheese platter ,which was fantastic, and moved on to the onion soup. That alone would have filled us up, but we chose to make a full dinner of it!! I had the Steak Frietes, which was superb! My husband had the unpronounceable steak, and he was so glad he's did! Our only regret was we didn't have room for dessert. A true French restaurant in Traverse City!!!
We had a lovely happy hour dinner here. They offer about fifteen very reasonably priced small plates for happy hour, and with a party of six we decided to try them all. They were all carefully prepared and tasty, capturing the real taste of French cooking. Wine specials were also great. Don't hesitate to go.
Not only is the fare excellent, but they have a vast selection of wines and happy hour specials. I especially like the ratatouille with pork shoulder I had this past winter. Also a great, intimate place to go on a date.
Amazing food happy hour! Do not pass it up from 4 to 6. You can try reasonably priced gourmet dishes at a fraction of the cost. If you require a more intimate dinner experience please call ahead for reservations. Never to disappoint
Wonderful happy hour, service was great and timely, all the appetizers came out fairly quickly and tasted great!
Great small plates and excellent red wine on their happy hour menu. My favorite place in town for small bites!
My wife and I have been down several times now for dinner. Really enjoy the food. It's one of those places you try something once and you want to go back to it! Service is also outstanding. They provide an ambiance of fine dining without people like myself feeling like I'm not welcome due to my apparent lack of culture. :) Come on down and give it a try! It's not an experience you'll want to overlook!
Nice atmosphere and a promising menu, but falls short on front of house management and overall dining satisfaction. Evening began with a 50 minute wait from time of reservation and a table practically in the kitchen with no apology, explanation or even acknowledgement of delay. They were out of the two entrees we planned on ordering, and what we each settled for were both disappointing. Not the entrees were bad just nothing at all special. The pork loin was dry, and the cassoulet rather bland. With all the great restaurants in Traverse City, our dinner gave us no reason to return or recommend Bistro Foufou.
