Its not Hunter or Killington; great beginning family ski area. More of a hill than a mountain. Check ahead to see how many runs are open. Very limited snow coverage early in the season. Those accomplished skiers looking for challenges best look elsewhere.
This is a good ski mountain for beginner skiers. There are lessons with great instructors, and small trainer mountains. There are also a couple of big mountains for advanced skiiers
Fantastic family run mountain. May not have a ton of vertical but the steeps are as steep as anywhere.
Great place to learn. Great place to ride with kids
This place is the closest place to NYC, and that is probably the only reason why it gets so many visitors. Other than that it is a completely average ski area. Even the two largest trails there are relatively easy for experienced skiers. The ski school is great for kids want to learn how to ski, but after the intermediate level of skiers, it would be a good idea to start going somewhere else to ski. However, for beginner skiers, this place is close to NYC and is a great place to go skiing.
Great local spot to hit some easy slopes. A little too pricy though for there only being one good trail.
You can come here for learning how to ski or snowboard but that's about it. The runs are short and often Ivey and be prepared to wait on line for the lift for about 5-10 minutes at any given time. The saving grace is definitely the twilight skiing deal!
We had a blast today! Took my wife to see snow for the first time and we went ahead and made a ski day out of it! We were too late for the classes but we worked the beginner slope and I tried teach her to "pizza" her skis. By the end of the day she had it down, we went on the lift and down lovers lane (green)! Person I spoke with on the phone (Joan) was very helpful with helping us figure out how to get there from our hotel. Shuttle guy was very accommodating too. Food could use some help but it was ok. Great time we hope to come back with the kids!
Terrible snow and very slippery. The service is terrible, and most instructors at group lessons are rude and pushy. The food there is also terrible and is very overpriced. However, private lessons at not bad.
I was a little worried about taking my 5 year old having read a few of the reviews but I needent of worried. My 5 year old son has been to a few ski lesson here now and absolutely loved them. The instructors are all very friendly and move at your child's pace whilst giving lots of high fives. On my sons first ever lesson which was a private he learnt to stop, turn, use the magic carpet and chair lift which I was really impressed with. He even got to ski down the mountain with the help of his instructor and I thought that would take weeks to progress to. We have also been to a couple of group lessons and these are also excellent. If you need to hire equipment arrive early as it can take a while. Thoroughly recommend.
