Changes to the Marriott Pulse. Still under renovation so amenities were not available including gym and restaurant. The rooftop was open to public. Great hotel rooms and view of empire state
Loved the water cooler in the lower lobby, great for filling up bottles for the room. Location of the hotel is great, easy walk to many touristy attractions. Elevator situation was not great, and the concierge was a but snotty when we asked for help printing boarding passes (printer wasn't working in business center, he told us to go there or to front desk, and the front desk had already told us to go to him).
This review is for the rooftop bar - it is quite nice. Fantastic view of the Empire State Building and pretty good atmosphere. They keep the roof closed when it is cold but the view is great nonetheless.
The cocktails weren't really my cup of tea, they were a little too sweet and had way too much going on but depending on your taste in liquor, you mileage may vary. They were also a bit pricey but that is to be expected for a hotel bar.
Nice hotel in a desirable part of town. Housekeeping staff is excellent and very attentive. However, elevators are a disaster. Be prepared to walk upstairs or wait for a long time.
The hotel is beautiful and clean, the staff is super helpful and always had a smile (probably the nicest hotel staff Ive ever dealt with)
Everyone from housekeeping to the valet was great. The food at the restaurant was amazing! The rooftop bar was nice too with the perfect view of the Empire State Building. And the location cannot be beat. A 10-15 minute walk from Penn, 4 minutes to Macys and shopping, 2 minutes to Bryant Park and 10 minutes to the Theater District. I highly recommend
The staff was great. Very friendly and accommodating. My reason for taking off a star was because you could hear EVERYTHING outside your door. From people talking to the radios of the staff. Also, the room we stayed in was small, but not uncomfortable. Rooftop bar was awesome!
Went for drinks with a friend because we wanted somewhere with a view. Very close view to Empire State Building and some cool old water towers. We got there right when they opened at 5pm so we had a good spot. Drinks were reasonable ($15 cocktails) for the area and the view. Server was very nice.
A short walk from Penn Station. Stunning lobby, unfailingly polite employees, and the property is immaculately clean. Well-appointed and large rooms. Tons of great little places to eat or get coffee nearby. This just made my short list of favorite places to stay in Manhattan.
Went to have a drink at the Top of the Strand. It was really nice and low key. Amazing view of the Empire State Building. The sky was so blue. Totally normal to go up and have a drink even though I wasn't a guest. Because it was a rooftop bar after work I thought it would a younger crowd. It was not a hoppin vibe. Still fun. But mellow.
They're currently under construction, so I'll give them a pass for that. The rooftop bar was great! Excellent drink choices, and small plates available for eating. As a native New Yorker I forget how amazing the skyscrapers can be, but being there reminded me of how beautiful they are.
Atmosphere and setting was fantastic but drinks were dreadful. Would recommend visiting for the view but stick to cheaper, bottled drinks.
Rooftop bar has excellent view of the Empire State Building. There is a line to get in.
Went to the rooftop bar on an unseasonably warm evening, and loved being able to cozy up on the couch in the corner, drink good cocktails, and enjoy the amazing views.
