The office and maintenance staffs at The Legends at La Paloma are top notch. Everyone is friendly and focused on answering the tenants' needs, whenever and whatever. I love living here!
Safe, comfortable, quiet in luxury apartmenta and lovely neighbors. My only negative is all the outlets are upside down.
I have lived here for almost 9 years. I chose it when I moved out after finishing up at UofA because it was close to my first job and had all the amenities I was looking for. I have stayed because I have always felt safe and loved the beauty of the Foothills. Management has changed over the years and I was on the verge of leaving the complex when NALS took over. They have made a world of difference. The community has been extremely well maintained and managed under their watch. The staff is friendly, competent, and helpful. The facilities are beautifully maintained. And the maintenance - they do just an amazing job. They are quick to respond and get things fixed in one visit. They are also all extremely courteous and friendly. I have loved living here and it will be bittersweet when I buy my first home and leave this community.
Everything is great until you need maintenance in you apartment so you decide to address the issue to the office. They tell you a handyman is going to be there but he/she does not show up ever. You have to constantly rant about your problem for it to be fixed. I called about an issue at my apartment 2 weeks ago and I was told a handyman was going to be here the next day but didn't show up. I called again a week ago and nothing. THIS IS FRUSTRATING. Other than that, great.
Luis was super helpful in finding an apartment for my friends from out of the country. He was professional and had great communication. The apartments are nice, some are more upgraded than others. It would be nice if they replaced the old carpets with wood laminate flooring, but the views and location make this complex a worthwhile stop if you are looking for a place to live in the Tucson area.
My boyfriend and I had been so excited to move to The Legends, the space, location, gated community were such an upgrade from our first place together.
We were really happy there for about a week - that is when our neighbor, below us, started to complain about the "noise" that was coming from our apartment. The noise was due to loose floor boards that were creaking. I actually had the chance to go into our neighbors apartment and hear my boyfriend walk around above us. I felt so bad! After hearing just how loud it was - no one could live that way (Keep in mind we were just walking, like you should be able to do in your home). The craziness with her didn't stop but you cannot fault The Legends for a neighbor, but you can fault them for the LACK of help they gave us and her in order to fix the issues. They "secured" ONE floor board when they were numerous floor boards that needed to be fixed, which we pointed out to the manager.
In numerous emails we expressed our concern for the rest of the floor boards to be fixed so our neighbor below could stop complaining, and we could stop dealing with her harassment (she called the cops on my boyfriend for playing acoustic guitar at 6pm!!!) Along with a huge list I will not bore you with. The manager ignored most of our emails, and the ones she did reply to gave us no solutions, we were giving her solutions and she ignored them. She even replied once that she was sorry she had not responded yet, but a family emergency took her from the office and that she would be in touch shortly. She was never in touch again. After that final email from her she would not even look at us when we came into the office, and it goes without saying she wouldn't speak to us either. We tried to go over her head to her boss and we never got a response from them either. After the manager made Talon handle all things regarding us we realized if he had been helping us from the get go, we wouldn't have been so angry with how The Legends had treated us. Talon is the only one I would recommend in that office. If you do decided to move to The Legends please only deal with him when expressing issues or concerns, or else you will be shrugged off.
I think a lot of rental companies forget that, we the renter, are who they work for. Once you get locked in a lease they stop treating you like you are human. This was our home! You should never feel threatened or uncomfortable when you go get your mail from the office because the manager is immature and unable to say "hello". Our downstairs neighbor has since moved out and so have we. I sure hope before anyone else moves into our former home they fix the floorboards! It was such a nightmare for both parties and we truly believe that it could have all been avoided. Instead we were avoided. Please NALS's (the management company), replace the entire office staff at The Legends, except Talon. Oh the kicker, manager of this property is also the "district manager".
More cons:
the place randomly smells like sewer, cockroaches in and out of the apartment (I read about this before moving there and thought it wasn't true - luckily we only had two encounters and that was after they flushed the sewage or something).
I try to keep all of my reviews positive unless something really awful takes place (see my other reviews). Just beware of management.
