Nice classy place in a great location.
The rooms are nice and very stylish.
Absolutely gorgeous views if you get a room on higher floors. We had a terrace with magical sights. Uber comfortable room with space beyond belief. Definitely recommend
3.5-4 stars. The Benjamin has its pros and cons. First, I need to state that this was the most restful sleep I have ever gotten at a hotel, in terms of bed and pillow comfort. Having arthritis, it can be challenging to sleep in unfamiliar hotel beds that are for the most part, stiff and uncomfortable. The Benjamin offers personalized pillow choices free of charge, all curated by a doctor for your sleeping position. The mattress was exceedingly comfortable, the sheets soft, and it felt like home.
The cons: Give the hotel's midtown location, it does receive a lot of foot traffic. This is very evident in the rooms, and it felt dirty. Torn lampshades, scuff marks in the bathroom, stains on the furniture, and dirty carpet were all present. The desk and chair in my room had a repulsive body odor smell to it and I couldn't even use it.
Hallways, the lobby, elevators, and room bathroom are quite cramped for being a luxury hotel– alas, this is NYC. In my bathroom, there was no room to move, limited counter space, and I had to straddle the toilet just to use the mirror. There was a risk of dropping my toothbrush, contact lens, etc. in the toilet.
Concierge services had very friendly and amicable personalities and were helpful with some parts. However, their restaurant recommendations were consistently unsatisfactory and it seemed like there was some lacking knowledge. I asked for Nordic restaurants and the gentleman replied that there were none, even though Manhattan has Aquavit.
For two nights, we asked recommendations for authentic ethnic restaurants. For a Chinatown recommendation, we were guided to a heavily Americanized restaurant on a more obscure road outside of Chinatown. Even the taxi driver had difficulty locating it. We were the only ones dining in the Chinese restaurant and they were playing 90s pop hits, including The Spice Girls. Overall, concierge gave restaurant recommendations that were very "safe", non-memorable, and more accommodating to unadventurous tourists, even though we were specific with our requests.
Overall, if you are looking for a good night's sleep, The Benjamin is the place. However, do not have high expectations for cleanliness and concierge services for restaurants.
The recently renovated, self contained rooms are more like apartment stays than a hotel. Whilst the exterior and public areas have old world style and charm, the room was modern and very comfortable. In-room heating/cooling is a bit loud and distracting to begin with but the city sounds and noises easily drown it out if police/fire drive past the hotel. The staff have been very friendly and the Golden Keys concierge is the best one-stop insight into things to see and do whilst in the city. The location is OUTSTANDING with everything a visitor or tourist might like, just a short walk away or a quick taxi ride. Highly recommended.
This hotel will overpass your expectations. Perfectly located in one of the best spots of the city. Their staff is outstandingly polite, helpful and know how to keep customers satisfied. The National, hands down for your food, attention and bar.
Lovely art deco hotel, warm staff, great location. Gave this property only 3 stars due to the amount of dirt and cookies we found under the sofa-bed cushions, the stained pillow cases in the bedroom and what seemed like the 24 hour construction crew that were always present on the terrace right outside of our bedroom and living rooms windows.
The hotel is very nice and the room was well kept. The location is very good, it's close to a subway station and Grand Central to get around easily but it's also decent walking distance from sights like Rockefeller and Central Park. The beds are comfy the only issue is it can get noisy with traffic passing below, especially sirens for emergency vehicles which were situated on streets nearby.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, always trying to help whatever the request.
Great hotel. Fantastic location. Great service. Only drawback and it is big one: $30.00 " hotel facilities fee" whether you use facilities or not. That's $30.00 per day.
Our stay was a good experience overall. We stayed in a suite which was billed as "the nicest in the hotel." The room had mid century modern furniture and was clean. I think something complementary with a suite can be a nice touch, like fruit or water - do not expect that here. The quality of the mattress could have been better. Nice staff.
My stay at the Benjamin hotel was for one night. I booked a suite. The lobby was clean and the check in process was quick. The room was spacious and also clean. I was not impressed with the decor but it could have been worse. The bathroom was probably the only real complaint I had. The toilet was pulled right out of a high school restroom. The shower had decent water pressure but was rather narrow and uncomfortable for having booked a suite. Overall my experience was not a bad one. I rate the hotel a 3.8 out of 5. I rate my experience in the hotel a 4 out of 5. (I did not eat at this hotel)
Great service. Beautiful interior. The one bedroom suite we had was spacious with a huge bathroom stocked with Elemis supplies.
This was a great choice for our recent stay in New York City. We had an amazingly comfortable room, but what was most amazing was the "pillow menu". Wow, what a choice of comfort! I also want to commend this hotel on their great staff, in particular, Jesse, who went above and beyond to make our stay at The Benjamin so wonderful. This was also an outstanding location, close to so many of the things people come to New York City to see and do.
Simply the best! Our stay in NYC was made much more memorable and special due to The Benjamin.
The entire staff is amazing and was always ready to meet any requests we had, the location is in the heart of midtown and within walking distance to many points of interest, our room was in perfect condition. They are very pet friendly and our dog had a very good time.
Highly recommended!!
