This motel is only getting 1 star because that's as low as you can rate. When we called the day of to verify our reservation we were put "on hold" I use quotations because usually there would be some type of music or info of the motel. The phone was off the hook and you could hear full conversations of quests and their info as they were being checked in and employees communicating about lunch break and from the sounds of it they forgot about us being on the phone so we called again, same thing.
We check in just before 4pm (usual check in time) the room was not ready. The stairwell smelt of cigarette smoke even tho there are many no smoking signs. Never found the elevator.
We get to the room and it has wet dog smell, same as the hallways. And is more strong in the bathroom. The bathroom door is dirty and from the looks of it was flooded so they didn't properly do the repairs just patch work and it was evident. Because of the smell being so strong in the bathroom, had to use the mirror in the room to do makeup, that I had to clean because was it was dirty.
The top cover had a burn hole from a cigarette, and smelled as if it had never been washed. Thankfully the sheets were just washed.
The iron board had burn marks and was unclean as well.
On the door was an evacuation plan for a different room location and not only that but it said best western Not motel 8.
The remote control for the tv had batteries that were so old, the acid from the batteries was all over them. Had to go down to get replaced.
The hallways were like a dormitory, people loitering and in and out at all hours of the night and morning. At about 6:30-7 am was awaken by what sounded like a domestic dispute.
I understand it is a motel 8, but even tho it is a cheap motel you should take pride in what you do and do your job right. I use to work, cleaning 3 bed 3 bath condos WITH a kitchen and it was cleaned correctly and in a good amount of time.
The night shift check in was not "unfriendly" but not nearly what I would call plesant, the room was disgusting black mold in 2 corners of the room, the tub was slimy and covered with mildew on the walls and the furniture was disturbingly old and unclean. One bed was half ass made with 1 of the pillows thrown on the bed with the pillow case left on it for ME to put on. The stairwell smelled of "bodily waste" . bed was old and pillows lumpy old and smelled funny. They were all mismatched and different like bought at a thrift store.
Worst part is they were 20 more than advertised for that price I could have gone across the street to the nicer hotel, and I should have.
Went to call front desk about problems and non working light switch.behold the busted phone. Only reason for the second star was morning staff was up beat and super awesome THAT is how your staff should be.
You'll Regret It. The front desk, kitchen area is in a separate building which is very nice looking when you first walk in. The breakfast was pathetic. OJ was going sour, coffee was nasty like the stuff in the rooms, tables looked like they were quickly wiped with a rag dipped in dirty water. You could see the smeared dirty water. When you first enter the adjacent building with the rooms, after trying several times to get your key card to work, your sense of smell is attacked by the smell of mold being covered up by tons of fabuloso cleaner. It just has that smell as if the place was flooded but never properly renovated afterwards. This smell continues throughout the hallways and into the room on the 3rd floor. The elevator is tiny like you can only get 3 people of normal size squeezed into it. I was afraid to touch the buttons because everything i side looked filthy like someone just finished a chili-dog and wiped their hands on the buttons and walls. They will only give you one towel per person. If you ask for another at the front desk the woman working the desk asked me how many people are in the room. Told her 2 and she said she only had two towels. Walking back to my room I went past the laundry room where they wash linens and saw plenty of towels stacked on the table. I forgot to mention the reason I had to ask for clean towels was because after getting back to my room at 4:45 PM it had not been serviced yet. I saw the desk clerk in the hall and asked her about it. She said she would have towels at the front desk after 5pm.
The smoke detector in the room is missing with wires sticking out of the wall. Room 305 is not safe and should not be rented to anyone. The popcorn ceiling is peeling all the way across the room above the bed. The pillows are the smallest I've seen in a hotel and very flat.
I don't want to blame it all on the desk clerk. I'm sure she had a good reason for being rude. Customer service is not number one here. I'm surprised this place is still in business and I will do my best to avoid ever having to stay in another "not-so-Super 8" hotel or any Wyndham hotel for that matter.
The best part of this 2-day stay is leaving.
This place sucks it's nasty! Have already been switched rooms because of plumbing issues. I'm afraid to sleep in fear of bed bugs. The elevator stinks like pee. The halls smell of mold and pot smoke. Had to plug the fridge up myself thought it was broken. I would leave if I thought they would give a refund but from other reviews I see that they won't. I will never stay here again!
We will give this hotel a 1-star. Because yesterday the hotel had pluming issues I understand that things like that happen so they took our toilet out of our room didn't say anything to us until I went down to the lobby to use the restroom. Then they tell me that we have been moved to the 3rd floor with no water. Now the water is back on, but however we was going to leave the hotel and we asked for a refund and they don't do refunds so beware !!. I will say this those the rooms are clean, nice and roomy but this all I'm saying.
I was surprised at the low price of the room but soon discovered once checking in why it was so low. Our first dilemma was parking which was an absolute nightmare. The room which we were given had a toilet that wouldn't flush and a bathtub that wouldn't drain. We were given a different room the following morning. Our second room had a bathroom door that had been kicked in and wouldn't close. The recepticle that help the plug ins for the refrigerator, the microwave, and the one lamp in the room was broken. Roaches were our next surprise. Needless to say we had a weekend we will never forget!
Our stay at the Super 8 was pretty rotten. The staff was nice enough but everything else was terrible. My kids left finger prints in the dust that was collected on the wooden surfaces in the room. There was clumps of black dust collected in the air vents of the air conditioner. Flakes of paint falling off the walls, mysterious brown stains near the toilet, and chips of material chunked out of the toilet seat itself. My wife's right eye swelled up and was red from laying on the pillow. She also was fearful that there were bedbugs because she was complaining of itching on her feet during the night. The continental breakfast was cereal. Even though they had waffle makers, there was no evidence of any ingredients or condiments for it. Never stay at Super 8.
The truth is that I booked a non- smoke room and all I smelled was cigarette smoke , cleanliness was good, bed slept good
All stores we needed were near.
Everything about the hotel was very nice the rooms were very neat and tidy staff members were respectful and courteous management was also great I will be returning here soon for another stay
My room is clean, bathroom and beds are clean. Floor is pretty clean compared to other places I've stayed.
Nice better than comfort inn friendlies staff unlock comfort inn they was rude and steal your deposit when ovisley not your fault thwy still make exsquse too keep it no matter what don't go there I wouldn't
I wouldn't stay here unless you plan on having roaches in your room. They put my husband in two different rooms the whole 20 minutes he was there. The first room had a bug bomb still in it and dead roaches in the bed. The second room had roaches crawling all over the place. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want some bugs sleeping with you.
clean place plenty of food places convenient to interstate store and bar next door semi truck parking
I stayed at super 8 this past weekend & I have to say it was a comfortable stay!! I've been to super 8 in Shelby multiple times & this super 8 is alot nicer than that one. The room was clean and fresh the location was quiet and peaceful. There are many food places right near by and it was at reasonable price. The hallways are a little hot and stuffy but overall my room was comfortable! I will definitely go back to stay there because of the peaceful room I was in. I love the fact that the privacy is good there. The super 8 in Shelby nc I normally go to isn't that clean & it needs remodeling the pool is not big enough in Shelby and traffic and restaurant public can see you. I really enjoyed my stay in km. I will return again!!! Room was very nice!!
Cheap Hotel room to just sleep,if you dont mind the roaches and dirty sheets. I did find 2 roaches on the bed i slept in. It was gross. Worse hotel if stayed in years. But i was exausted from driving at 2am, so a bed is a bed.
Long black hair in the sink, dog hair on the bed, dirt on the walls, cigarette Burns in the sheets, pen stains on the mattress. The room smells of dog shampoo, and the air conditioner would not clear that out. The staff was nice, and the rooms are cheap. I wish fervently that my company would allow me to stay in something that cost a little more
The room I was given was a double One bed wasn't made and used towels were left in the sink of the bathroom. I asked for a partial refund the next morning, and was rudely told no. The rooms aren't too bad if they would be kept up!!! Beds comfy
Smelled like weed in the bathroom. Not sure if the room was recently cleaned. Dirty sheets and hair was scattered everywhere. Non smoking room smelled like smoke. Stayed 30 minutes. Had to leave. Rather sleep in the car.
We only wanted a Clean bed and a place to shower. Bed was clean, mattress and sheets were clean, lumpy pillows. Room had a clean look. When we started using restroom and surface areas I was able to see that it was dusty, singer prints on doors, toilet handle was dirty, inside toilet: looked as if a brush to clean it hadn't been used due to orange film and ring inside.. Shower curtain holder was broken and curtain doesn't stay closed.. had to clean out the restroom and surfaces prior to using. Would if switched out hotels but bed was clean and we were too tired. The hotel does look like its under renovation but not sure what was done. Had to get a different set of towels from the front desk, but all towels look old. Hotel needs major renovation and a good construction clean-up crew due to dust and finger prints everywhere!! Yes it's inexpensive but a clean restroom is not out of the question when renting a hotel room.
