Very clean room. Great breakfast bar. Could offer larger cups for coffee.
Typical Super 8. Owner was very nice but asked me 2x if I had a dog. Not sure if he thought I was lying or if he knows I'm a dog lover.
So far first night was decent the rooms where to my standards including the tv with hbo although the breakfast was not up to par with how they made it to seem last night.
A clean Hotel but could use some updating. Close to Ohio University. Has good rates.
No elevator, breakfast was very good, beds comfortable. No signs of Super 8 at the exits or entrance to Athens and no name on building. Confusing to people who have never visited Athens,
Place is clean, but TV is bolted to a table that is so low you can't watch it while in bed. Shower head is also mounted so low nearly impossible to wash without kneeling, and I could get a better breakfast from a vending machine. I won't be back. For the $ they charge it should be a lot better.
My wife and I came to town for a wedding; several other hotels were sold out and this Super 8 only had smoking rooms left (and we're not smokers). We booked a room for two nights and arrived at 11:30 PM from a long drive with low expectations. We were greeted warmly at the front desk by a friendly and helpful man who pointed us toward our room. The hallway just inside the back door that we used smelled like smoke, so we prepared ourselves for our room to be the same way. However, we could not find a trace of smoke smell in our smoking room, nor did we smell any chemicals used to cover it up. The room just smelled clean and it was totally clean - the bed, comforters, sheets, bathroom floor, vanity, table and entertainment center, window drapes, everything was immaculate. The free breakfast spread was small, but the employees we interacted with were all friendly and the shower had good temperature, good pressure, and no draining issues. Very pleased customers!
We booked our hotel online, received confirmation, arrived at the hotel only to be told that we didn't have a room. The clerk proceeded to tell us the he tried to call us, and email us, even though neither one of us had an email sent, or missed phone call. Asked if we could purchase a room due to the miscommunication, the owner said we had to have a $50 deposit that we would get back after he personally checked our rooms. No thank-you, we aren't three year olds, we simply needed a room to stay at because we were in town for the Hippie FestI wouldn't recommend this place to anyone because they also charge your card before you even check in to make sure your payment goes through. You're better off paying the extra money for the Holiday Inn or Hampton.
Very clean and quiet. Reasonable rates. Convenient and safe location.
Horrible service!!!!! I found cockroaches in my room, and took one to the owner. He started arguing with me that it was a grass bug! They wouldn't give us travelers butter to eat our dinner with. He told us to go to Wal-Mart. Worst hotel I have ever been too. Deserves 0 stars!
My fiance, parents and I stayed here for my doctoral graduation. First off, the owners were inappropriately and unnecessarily rude to my mother. My parents chose this hotel because they had stayed here before. This visit was not worth it. Secondly, the toilet paper was not a new roll- it was almost all the way used- but still folded nicely to look good. The showers spit out black water!! Which is rust!!!! I went to use the washcloth and black makeup was still on it from someone else. Drying off with the towel was like using an exfoliating towel!! It was so hard and gross. The carpet did not seem like it was vacuumed. The mini-fridge was making an awful high pitch noise all night and I couldn't sleep. Yes you get a free breakfast, but it was really pathetic with gross coffee. The only reason that I am giving 2 stars instead of 1, is because the bed was decently comfortable. I understand that Athens is really short on hotels- so try and stay at the other ones.
The rooms were not horrible but they were not stocked when we got there. The shampoo bottle was half empty and the napkin dispenser only had 3 napkins so we were out quickly. Plus they didn't give us the WiFi password. A lot of nitpicking problems I know. The rooms were not horrible but I would not recommend it.
We stayed at Super 8 for a 2 day concert. Our friends had arranged the room so we didn't have any interaction with that part of the process but they didn't have any complaints and said the staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and well furnished. We didn't get a chance to check out breakfast so we can't comment on that part. Overall we had a great experience with Super 8.
