I had an amazing experience while visiting burr oak campground. A very relaxed and fun get away. Shower houses and laundry on site. Very clean. Office, staff are amazing and always eager to assist! Can't wait to go back!

Our family loves to stay there. The front desk staff are fantastic to with, the newly remodeled rooms and suites are great for . families with kids. Our daughter loves having a bunk bed and her own TV and her own bathroom.
The master bath is wonderfully redone with a huge the path to the lake is very steep without any stairs, but we go fishing off the large dock. And there's plenty of smaller fish for entertainment,
Some year, we will need to rent a boat to get to the middle of the pond for good fishing, but we always meet friendly people.
At night we enjoy hanging out in the alcove balcony, and playing one of their family board games.response / report this review -

I've only been there during hunting season. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is very nice. However, they used to have a breakfast early in the morning for hunters, but they didn't have it this year. Other than that, the food at the restaurant is very good and reasonable for a resort. I would highly recommend it. It is very beautiful.

We loooove Burr Oak Lodge! We take our grandsons there right before school starts, during Christmas break and spring break. They love it and won't even consider going any where else. There is swimmingindoors and at the beach), hiking, a fireplace in the huge inviting lobby and loft areas where they also have games and books, etc. The dining room is beautiful and the food delicious. You will not be disappointed!

Welcome brochure: "Our entire staff is dedicated to one purpose, and that is making your stay as relaxing and refreshing as possible. We want to exceed, not just meet, your expectations."
Reality: Maintenance was banging around in the storage room next to our room, at midnight. It stopped after 15 minutes so I didn't complain, but when it occurred again on the second night I called the front desk. I asked that she have them stop moving furniture into the storage room, since it was 1220 in the morning and I needed to get some rest. Her response was "I'll mention it to them." No apology was offered, and certainly no meeting or exceeding expectations philosophy was in evidence! It went on for another 15 minutes, and I was about to go out and have the front desk wake up THEIR manager, but it stopped. I don't recommend this establishment, but if you DO go, stay away from room 219!response / report this review -

Had a wonderful time at the Lodge even if it was because we were evacuated due to Irma. The staff at the front desk were polite and really went out of their way to accommodate us, especially Beth and Brandy. The Cardinal Room was wonderful. The waitresses were great and the food, scrumptious! I can't wait to go back for Christmas with my family now!

A beautiful setting for a quick getaway. The lodge is right on the lake and the view is awesome. The restaurant has very competently-made smoked pork and beef brisket. Coupled with the view it makes for a nice meal. The suite we had was clean and comfortable and plenty roomy for parents and a few kids. Dinged one star for the service being a tad slow at times, but it isn't a huge worry.

This location frequently for school functions in the local area. I really enjoyed the food and the drinks were great! The view is absolutely amazing, the ability to look at the lake is the icing on the cake. The service is pretty great as well. The only issue is the price but your paying for what your getting.

Awesome family friendly lodge, great pool and beautiful grounds to walk! I will be back for sure. Wish the weather was better when we visited would have loved to enjoy the hiking in the area

I went here with my brother for a backpacking trip around the lake and had a great time. The trailhead is easy to find (near the lodge) and the trails are well blazed and easily followed. The trail itself follows the outline of the lake, roughly, and offers some spectacular views of the lake.
The terrain can be hilly at times but not overly so. And there are a great deal of interesting rock formations, wildflower groves, and various different kinds of environments to see along the trail.
The campsites are all drive in campsites at various points along the trail, many of which also have a dock. For more adventurous backpackers this can be a little disconcerting and take away any hopes of a back country camping trip. But for backpacker beginners it can be a great trail as there are water and bathroom stops at several points along the trail.
Overall I think it is a great trail for beginning backpackers.response / report this review -

2 room suites were great. Staff was friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, basic guest services were limited as they were understaffed for the off season. This seemed to lead to cutting corners. I am willing to give it a second chance in the summer months.

Excellent location and view of the lake. Nicely spaced rooms that easily fit our 8 person party. Lodge located at a convenient location. Serivce was very good.

I took my family to swim at the indoor pool. My kids are ages 2, 4, and 6 and we live in Athens and so this is the closest indoor pool for winter swimming. The pool is 3 feet deep at one end and 8 feet at the other. The shallow and deep parts were conveniently separated by a buoyed rope so my little ones knew where to stay. The lodge provides plenty of clean fresh towels and the water was perfectly warm so that my 2 year old could stay in for more than 30 minutes. The price is 10 a person and 3 and under are free, which I felt was a little pricy. The whole lodge has a bit of a run down feeling. It seems like they need renovations or even just better general upkeep. The stall in bathroom/changing room by the pool didn't lock, and when we first went in there the toilet would flush every 15 seconds. The floor is a little uneven which meant that water pooled in odd places and towels, shoes, anything that touched the floor was in danger of becoming soaked. Overall we had a good time and I would recommend the pool for an occasional family outing.
