I moved to Northern VA 3 years ago and upon my relocation, I visited the area on multiple occasions looking for an affordable place to live. I looked at approximately 8-10 different apartment complexes and ultimately decided on Stuart Woods Apartments for many reasons; to include: the rental cost (it was the least expensive at the time) had more square footage, had all of the amenities I was looking for, it’s close proximity to my job, and etc. These are also the many reasons why I remain a resident to this day.
Stuart Woods Management is professional, communicative, helpful, and friendly. Whenever I’ve had an issue, they have addressed it head on. They take pride in knowing their residents. Each time I’ve had to go into the office, they address me by name. Carlos, Erica, & Muhammad are the best!
Stuart Woods Maintenance Team is by far the best maintenance staff I’ve experienced. I am not for certain if they are under a 24-hour turnaround time. However, each maintenance request I’ve submitted have all been completed in 24 hours and/or less. Many times, my maintenance requests have been completed the same day.
If you are reading this review to decide if Stuart Woods is for you, I strongly urge you to consider this complex. I highly recommend Stuart Woods. No regrets moving here 3 years ago.
I have lived at these apartments for a little over two years and have had a good laugh looking at some of these reviews of Stuart Woods. First you have to look at the dates. There was a total change of the management team just after I moved in in 2015, so all of the reviews that refer to poor management before 2015 have to be ignored.
If living here was so bad, you wouldn't find folks who had lived here for long periods of time. I have a number of friends and neighbors in this community who have lived here for over a decade. Others moved out for a period of time because of life circumstances and then have come back. Or moved within the community to an apartment that opened up that suits them better. It's obvious that people want to stay here. You just can't argue with that
If you are really looking for a place to live and you are considering Stuart Woods, please just take some of these comments for what they arecomplaints from people who don't like to have to follow the rules.
The location is great. The pet policy is good. They have great amenities - a shuttle to the Metro and even a dog park! Maintenance takes short cuts sometimes (who doesn't??), but they are also wonderful, kind, and caring when they have show up for an emergency on a Sunday afternoon or late in the evening.
The current management team has made a real effort to make sure the community rules are followed. This makes sure that everyone is treated the same way and knows what to expect. It makes life here better for everyone. So I'm not sorry for those who want to be an exception to the rules.
I won't lie - I've had a moment or two with the staff, but when I discuss the issue with them, we can usually see each other's point of view and come to some better understanding. I mean, the bottom line is they are there to make things work for EVERYONE not just me.
Moving is stressful whether you want to move or not. Anything can be "the last straw" when you are stressed and it is easy to misunderstand others. I hope that when it comes time for me to move, there won't be an issue. What I can say is that I won't take out my frustration with the management team and the move out process and publish something really awful on social media. That would be irresponsible like so many of the recent comments here.
Your 6 year old who leaves the bike out in the middle of the path has created a hazard for me and my dog while we are out walking. Yeah, so the management team clears the path so that it is safe for my dog and I to walkyou are lucky that they give your kid's bike back. Frankly, you should teach your kid to take better care of his stuff.
I have been living here since 2 years and would like to recommend this community. Actually I was recommended by my friend who stayed here for 8 years. The best thing about this apartment is the rent is affordable and very reasonable when compared to other apartments.
Maintenance is very good, the best team I had ever seen and one more thing you can raise a maintenance request online.
The Management team is very nice and they have suggested me the most optimized solution for lease renewal, when I am having some problems with my job contract.
All amenities are really good and they are being maintained properly. The shuttle service to Reston metro station is very helpful.
I have lived here since 2014 and would recommend this place to anyone. It sits in a wooded area, that staff is very friendly and helpful. Their maintenance staff is impeccable. They are very denpendable and show up quickly. The apartments are nice size with washer and dryers provided. It is quiet and the pool closes at 7:00 or 8:00 so you do not have to worry about pool parties, alcohol etc. Close to a lot of shops and also not far from the Metro Station.
I lived here almost 10 months and the Management and Maintenance Department has always been professional to work with.
And it has very good and spacious apartments.
I have been a resident for nine months and LOVE it! When I tell friends about where I live, I was surprised to learn of so many people that I knew that have lived here over the last 40 years and also enjoyed their time here.
The front office has been very receptive to any issues that I have brought up. It is wonderful to just make a phone call to the maintenance number and from the rep's professionalism to the quick turn-around to having the problem fixed is great. The maintenance, grounds keepers and cleaning crew are always "visible" on the grounds in their golf carts or just seeing them around keeping the facility clean. Even the building hallways are kept immaculate and the floors washed weekly! My apartment is large enough that I do not feel confined and has all the amenities of my house when I was a home owner. I live 3 minutes from work so the convenience of not commuting (I did that for 2 hours each way for 30 years) is a definite plus. If I need to change jobs, I am not concerned about working in DC as they offer a commuter van to get you to the metro.
Mornings on my patio are amazing. I sit, drink coffee and enjoy seeing the deer and the foxes frolicking around, watch the dog walkers and joggers/walking on the trail in a wooded area---what a way to start your day! We even have an owl that I have heard over the last two weeks! Whether you are a dog owner, parents with small children or a professional looking for a nice community located within minutes of all kinds of stores & restaurants, you will not be disappointed.
Wish rate and review have zero rating i would have given for this apartment.
Think twice before you move in this apartment all they want from you is money.
Our 18 months journey in this horrible apartment went nightmare due to noisy neighbors and repeteadly we have requested to erica dancy solving those issue but she didnt bother to solve rather she gives excuses and washed her hand away. i think management need to think twice if their employees are doing right job or not.
Finally we came out from this apartment last month and surprisingly we received a bill of $182 after deducting of security deposit money and another explanation given to us is that the carpet need to be replaced where their AC cooler machine inside the apartment went bad twice and water spill all over the carpet and that an excuses to steal money.
Even we took a picture before we left but leasing office have their own stories which is totally not acceptable to us.
Therefore dont be stupid coming in this apartment.
Don't bother coming here. I have a 6 figure salary and a credit score of 794 and just got denied because my unemployed wife doesn't have any credit. She has faithfully been with me during my entire military career, placing her career on hold while I was moved around the country and abroad. Apparently, that kind of dedication to family is frowned upon by Stuart Woods Apartments. I wish I could give zero stars. Absolutely despicable business practices here.

These People are crooks!!! They are known to find any and all reasons to keep your deposit and then some. When requesting photos of damages they said you caused they have a camera that takes horrible pictures and write your apartment number on a piece of paper. The apartment number in the pictures you can tell was changed on the card. When the lease is up make sure you do the walk through with them.
When needing any repairs or when them come in for their routine checks I suggest you be present when they are there because they have a tendency to leave doors open and unlocked. Repair people also have entered the apartment without knocking.
If I can give it a zero star, I'll do it.
My family's lived here for almost 5 years since 2012, at that time we didn't have kids, so we rent a 1bed with den. then I got my two sons, who is 3yr old and 1yr old. we are about to buy a house next year, so we think it is good for us to stay here one more year. This January, they sent us a mail said over occupied, we must change to a 2 bedroom and pay $700 as transfer fee. They said it's according to their own rule, which I never heard that before. they gave us their so called "documents", which showed that we are totally qualified to stay in a 1 bedroom with den. we try to explain the condition, but the staff just turned really rude, said we only have 2 choice-- either move out or change to 2 beds and pay $700. Then they just disappeared and didn't respond anymore. Ridiculous! We've already sue them to BBB.
And the house condition is so bad, the wall in our den has been leaking for 4 years! They came and fix it for about hundred times, but nothing improved. And the wall is thin like a paper, you can clearly hear the snoring in another apartment!
Their staff just rude and have no manner, they just care about the money. The lowest price for 1bedroom is $1400+, for 2 bedroom is 1600+, believe me , you can definitely find a nicer and cheaper place in this area.
Many of the residents are moving out these two years, so stay away from this place!
Fastest and best emergency maintenance I've ever experienced.
I did not actually live at Stuart Woods and after my experience with the management office and reading the other reviews I am glad I didn’t. My boyfriend and I signed a lease and submitted $50 application fee (nonrefundable) and a $300 deposit to hold an apartment. We were not approved for the apartment and were told we would receive the $300 back. The money was taken out of my account on October 24, 2016. on October 28th, we called to inquire about how we would receive our refund and we were told by a man in the management office that checks were mailed out from corporate which is in CA, and that our check had already been mailed out. I received a call from the management office on November 7th asking which address I would like them to send my check to, so it was not sent out like they had said it had been previously. I emailed them my new address and requested for the check to be sent to this location. On November 15th , I emailed again asking, why had I still not gotten my check to which they replied "checks are processed at corporate on Wednesdays and if you do not receive it by November 23rd to contact them". So, on November 28th when my check had still not arrived I emailed again and they said they would contact corporate. I was not satisfied with this answer so I went on the apartments website to find the corporate number and call myself to which I discovered that their corporate office is not located in CA but it is in VA. They are managed by A.J. Dwoskin. I called the number and was put through to voicemail. My boyfriend and I both left voicemails on November 29th and finally gotten a response today December 1st. A.J. Dwoskin has no idea why it has taken over a month for us to get our money back and said they will deposit it directly into my bank account. So, I do not know why the management office couldn’t resolve this matter themselves and call their corporate office. It is concerning that we were lied to so much because it is clear they did not try to reach out to corporate the many times they said they would because it literally took us a five-minute phone call to resolve this issue, and it is very clear that their office is not located in CA. This management office is horrendous and I am thankful we did not end up living there, it was truly a blessing in disguise. I can only post this if i select a star rating and unfortunately there are no negative stars so one will have to do.
Great so far. Maintenance comes quickly to fix things and everyone is very helpful.
Management needs to start screening for people with manners, whose little kids and grown ups don't stomp up and down stairs and slam doors all day and night. Some of us go to bed around 9:30 or 10, not after midnight!!!!!
Other than that, it is a nice place to live and I have been enjoying "My Space" instead of shared living in one room.
I needed to call maintenance on Christmas day 2015, because there was standing water in the front hallway, that looked like a leak of some type, or the main door had been left open all night, while it was raining. The person who called back said I had a wrong number, so I didn't call again.
The maintenance number is local 571, but needs a 1 in front of the area code or goes through as a wrong number to someone else's phone. The brochures at Stuart Woods have NEVER been updated.
We lived in Stuart Woods for 3.5 years, and could not have had a better experience. The community is beautiful and well maintained. The staff hosts regular community events, such as a holiday dinner or summer cookouts. There are beautiful trails in the back, and there is also a little gym with a few treadmills and weights, which I went to regularly.
Our apartment was very sturdy and well built, so it was easy to maintain and we never heard noise from neighbors (note – we were on the top floor). The appliances were not high-end, but they worked well, and the few issues we had were quickly taken care of by the maintenance crew. The water pressure was great, and we never had to worry about hot water.
The price was reasonable for the area (which is a very expensive area to live), and while it did go up every year, it was not by much, and the apartment was very clear about expectations in advance. Parking was never a problem for either ourselves or guests, and the complex offers a free shuttle service to the metro station as well.
Overall, I loved my time there, and I was sad to go. But I would highly recommend living there to anyone.
