My fiance and I have been here multiple times and we enjoy the winery every time we go. We usually do the tastings but have also just sat on the patio and had a glass of wine and enjoyed the scenery. We haven't eaten there yet but when the weather gets nicer we will. For us the staff is always friendly, Michael has helped us the past three times we've been tasting and he is friendly, funny and knowledgeable of the wines. Can't wait to get back there 👍👍

Literally only leaving 1 star because you cannot leave no stars. There were two other customers being helped by a man who didn’t even bother to glance our way. There also were two other women working that never even looked up from their computer. Our group of four were in there waiting to be acknowledged for over ten minutes. We ended up leaving because of the poor service and no one even said anything to us as we were leaving. NEVER GOING BACK.

We love this winery and stop in to taste at every opportunity. Russell always has something new and interesting. We are club members so that we don't miss out on new wines to enjoy. Thx, Micheal, you make it extra fun to learn about the new wines.

Best winery in Door County! California grapes. Great varieties. Love being a wine club member and the free wine tastings whenever we visit. Every 4-6 weeks we get another two bottles. We could have it shipped but love having the excuse to drive up from Milwaukee to pick it up and see old friends. Staff are knowledgeable and terrific, especially Diane and Michael, who always remember our names even if it has been a couple of months. Tapas bar in the summer with outdoor seating and live music makes it a terrific venue.

Service here was very poor. We waited at the tasting bar, money ready to pay for the tasting, for over 10 minutes without the slightest acknowledgement from the staff. We choose to leave and the tasting room, hoping to get a bottle of wine from the wine and tapas bar attached and enjoy drinks outside. Again, waited at the bar without acknowledge for over 5 minutes (it was not busy in this area). Once a server approached us, we explained what we wanted and she left, saying she would be right back. She returned several minutes later with a wine menu and just as I asked her a question she told me she needed to help someone else while I decided. The wine list did not contain any of the wines made at the winery; they were all out of state/country. She didn’t return so I didn’t get to ask about this. We left after wasting 45 minutes here. Terrible.

We arrived to a full house and waited about 20 minutes to commence tasting. Not the problem as it was busy. The problem was the older man single handedly serving a bar of about 20 people. It was explained to us that we had a choice of an $8 or $12 tasting. I chose the $12 tasting and picked from the more expensive selections. After my 3rd taste (which took about 30 minutes) I was told that the rest of my selections were sold out. Why I wasn't told this before I chose the more expensive tasting selection is beyond me. I told the older man serving us that we should have been informed from the start and he said "do you want your money back?" I said yes as I wasn't able to taste 50% of my selections. He handed me my money and turned his back to me like I did something wrong. My friends were trying to finish their tasting but ignored them as well. He eventually did come back to grab my glass and told me that I didn't pay for it so I had to return it..gladly as I will never return. The wines are overpriced and not as impressive as Harbor Ridge. The owner there purchased a bottle of wine for our table as we listed to the guitar player in the barn.this winery is a class act!!! Save yourself the trip and go to Harbor Ridge or Von Stiehl Winery!!!!

$12 for six tastings of their premium wine and $8 for five tastings of their traditional wines. They have a tapas bar adjacent to the tasting room and a pizza place a few steps away. Great outdoor seating and great picture opportunities. The wine is bottle there but it appears that most of the grapes used are from California. I bought a bottle of "Big Mouth Red".

Best wine in Door County hands down. If you're looking for that super sweet cherry wine, this isn't the place. Go down the road to one of the many tourist trap "wineries" in the area, or just buy a $10 bottle at the grocery store. If you want real wine from Napa sourced grapes, this place is for you. The servers can be aloof, we've had friendly ones and less than friendly ones. I would never say they were rude though. Yes the prices are higher than other places. A good bottle of cab costs more than a bottle of alcoholic cherry juice. The tasting prices are very reasonable and you get the keep a nice glass so it's definitely worth it.

We stopped here on a rainy afternoon during Labor Day Weekend - so as expected they were very busy. But there are three parts to the winery - it is a little confusing to figure out where to go. We first entered in the restaurant portion, thinking it was a big building and quickly got scolded and told to leave and go back in the door to the tasting room. There was no room at the bar for a tasting and they didn't seem to be in any sort of hurry, even with groups of people waiting to taste as well. Not impressed - I would recommend Door County Orchard - family ran and much more friendly!

I would give it a 0 if I could. Why? Their customer service at the wine tasting was terrible. They look at you like what are you doing here? They were rude. Some of us walked next door to the wine bar. They were amazing there! I love their moscato but because their customer service was uncalled for I won't buy from them

I'm rating this a 2 for the following reasons(we have been here at least a dozen times throughout the years): This is the most pretentious winery in the area, the wines are the most expensive, most overrated, and most overvalued. Every time we come in, we are meant to feel like 1) we don't know anything 2)we are wasting their time because we are not part of the monthly wine club and 3)the wine they make is way to good for us. Each year we give them a second chance because their winery is right by our place up there. Each time we end up leaving wishing we never walked in. My advice- go to harbor ridge or Simon creek, neither will charge you for a tasting unlike stonesthrow, and more importantly, neither place will judge you.

Had a great time at Stones Throw Winery and their Italian tapas restaurant Vino! Vino! We spent three hours there eating and drinking, talking and laughing with the owner Russell. A really warm inviting atmosphere. And on a warm Summer day, its really relaxing to sit on the patio and sip a great bottle or two!

So their wine is less fruity than others in the area ( which I definitely prefer!) the staff was friendly and I really love their wine bar attached to the tasting room ( Vino Vino). You can't go wrong with their antipasti and meatballs. For a real treat try their cannoli!!

Great wine! Tastings are $8 which is fairly expensive, as are the bottles. That said, you get a decent amount of wine since they don't seem to use the traditional stoppers. The setting is gorgeous and the entertainment available is impressive. The tasting room is a renovated dairy barn that was done right.
