State Street Brats is my goto bar for good bar food and drinks. Plenty of TVs to watch and game. Staff is always very helpful. Wonderful selections of beers.
The facility lends well to being a great chill bar, but it is managed as to be marketed to young students who want bad drinks from bad bartenders and to dance to very hmm music videos from their childhoods. This is the type of bar that doesn't allow plain white t shirts or baggy clothes, and doesn't allow hip hop. The bar refuses to stand out despite its (unfulfilled) promise of classic Wisconsin aesthetic.
Went a little early on Football Saturday, got a table! Great service!! Food was excellent, bar was jam packed but it was still easy to get drinks! Well done! We will be back!
Great college town environment, kids of TVs and seating. Did not eat here but the drinks are very reasonably priced and a fun atmosphere. Free WiFi.
Always great service, grade A classic Wisconsin food, and a wide variety of beers. The bottom level has a patio and calm seating but the upstairs has a dance floor and more wild atmosphere so there is a place for everyone! Highly recommend. (Some cute bartenders too)
The staff were friendly, the food was okay. I had the Tourist Sampler which consists of a brat, fried Cheese Curds, and a Spotted Cow Beer. The beer was fantastic, the brat was good, and the Cheese Curds were not too greasy. Pretty good place for a date, the atmosphere is laid back. You can choose to drink outside or in.
Interesting bar. Quite dark even during the day, but they do have outdoor seating. Good beer list with very friendly bartenders. There was no seats around the bar when we were there, but there is ample seating around the bar. Nice clean bathrooms. Interesting condiment bar area to provide you with all your brat customizing needs. Convienient location, but definitely has the ability of getting busy and crowded (which makes no seats around the bar quite convinient for ordering.
Not super impressed.. it was fun to go because we there for the games But the food was terrible.. dry chicken Over rated bratsthe deck was awesome the area was cute But over all. Mehhh.
Great brats, wings, and burgers. Vast draft selection. Very cool atmosphere. Awesome location on State Street. I don't like that there is no table service.
The food is subpar and the service is slow but if you're looking for a place that targets minorities based on their appearance and apparel this is the spot. Their dress code has drawn a lot of attention recently for making sure Brats remains a safe place for those afraid to confront the complex issues of racial discrimination. Again, If you can stand the nasty food and wait and hour and a half for a beer this is a great spot to ignore racism at, enjoy!
State street brats has discriminatory policies that target minority groups in Madison. I strongly recommend that people take there business elsewhere. If I could rate them zero I would.
I attempted to go to Brats and was denied entry. They told me at the door that I was obligated to remove my head wrap because it violated their dress code. My head wrap was kente cloth from Ghana; and is a cultural item. Brats policy is no durags (a black cultural item) and no bandanas. But they allow baseball caps. Nothing about headwraps and scarves, yet I wasn't allowed in.
This policy is unfair, uncalled for, racist, and I felt targeted and confused when the staff couldn't give an explanation for the policy. Brats will be losing multiple customers due to the now numerous negative incidents with patrons and staff.
This is the best place downtown to catch a Badgers game. The beer and food are cheap and the crowd is fun! Be sure to check out the patio is the summer.
Foods alright. Slot of alumni come here on game days I do not see the appeal of the food. Staffs nice, good beer and mixed drinks. The food is average.
