I had a procedure and stayed a couple days. Nothing bad to say about my experience. Staff was professional and courteous. Thank you!
I wouldnt put any star on them. Horrible service experienced twice. Flabatomologist/nurse drawl g blood while chatting with someone. Almost had the needle pop out from other side. Secondly my new born went for blood test, they assured the report will be over to the pediatrician next day. Just called the lab and found out they will mail it which will take 2 days before doctor gets it. My god, how do they even exist as a hospital???? My suggestion, if you wake up on this hospital and have the energy to crawl, RUN
Have the ambulance take you somewhere else!! The administrative practices at this hospital are beyond outdated, and it negatively affects care. My family member was admitted under an attending physician that was never there. We waited around all day for the attending physician to round, as the staff assured us that he rounds "very late", as in after 9 pm. At 9 pm sharp, a security guard walked the floor to ensure that all family was kicked out for the evening. The hospital plan seemed to be for the docs to see patients only after all family has left the room. This includes patients with dementia who are unable to respond to questions and who are unable to provide any medical history. It turned out that the doc never showed up at all, so it was a moot point. Great continuity of care, guys. The medical specialties that were consulted did not round on him every day; we were in the room all day every day, and we did not see them. If they had signed off on him, we were never informed. We had to request care that should have been done in the first place, in my opinion. My family member had fallen at home. Only after we requested that his back pain was evaluated did he receive an xray, which showed he did have a fracture. This was 3 days into the hospitalization. We requested a transfer to his regular hospital and to his regular doctors, and Oakland Gen suddenly jumped into action-- but they did not even attempt to schedule the transfer. The lesson is: your family member will be imprisoned if admitted. All throughout the hospitalization, the nickel and dime-ing of care continued. Some of his home medications were not ordered because, per the doc, they were "over the counter medications". Really. So apparently in their eyes, they did not deserve to be a part of the care plan. They gave him a half-dose of tylenol for his fracture pain until we had protested enough to get him a whole dose of regular strength tylenol. The RNs are apparently instructed to never divulge information- a simple "what are you giving him" question results in suspicion at this place, unlike any other hospital that I've ever audited. Thankfully, this can be overcome when you get a nurse that has not been completely institutionalized by this dinosaur of a hospital. My family member's shortness of breath is exacerbated by a low volume of blood (blood carries oxygen throughout the body). His routine doctors know this, and he receives medications to help him make more blood, but he also receives a blood transfusion from time to time. This place would not even entertain the thought because they will not stray from the "rule" that they cannot transfuse unless the patient's blood level reaches a specific number (I won't bore you with too much detail), even though the patient has obvious symptoms and a history which demonstrates that the breathlessness is relieved with transfusion. There were a few positives that I will mention so that the people that provided those positive points are recognized: we had some attentive nursing aides that really did try very hard. Some of the nursing staff and the respiratory therapists also worked well with us as they got used to us. I think that PT also was helpful, although I was not in the room to personally witness those exchanges. The emergency room was practically empty, but they did get the antibiotic hanging -- not within a half hour of presentation in the ER with pneumonia symptoms, but it wasn't like it took forever either. They may have thought they were dealing with asthma or something at first glance, so these things happen. They did treat the shortness of breath quickly. I think that better communication between the medical physician staff and the family could have prevented some of our complaints. We didn't even know what his diagnosis was -- why he was being hospitalized, what he was being treated for-- until we requested a transfer. Will be filing a complaint. Doctors should be present at acute care facilities, not turfing out every aspect of treatment. This place is dangerous.
Great hospital and caring people. They got us in and out of emergency in a decent time. They saw us in very fast. They took care of everything very well. Will make this the hospital I return to in the future.
ER was very, very slow to check in patients. It took over 45 minutes with nobody else in the waiting room to be admitted. Also, person at front desk was rude and not at all empathetic. At least the staff in the actual ER was nice and friendly.
Came in for foot surgery ( same day surgery)and found staff to be very friendly and professional. Nurses checked in on my comfort level. After surgery a nice warm blanket was offered and i gladly accepted. All employees seemed genuinely happy and content at work. No negative experiences to report. Thank you to all of the employees that made my surgery visit the best it could be under my circumstances. Frank Penzin
This was the worst experiences I have had in a hospital! From the nursing staff to the kitchen.
I had to spend three days here and each one was a nightmare. I had the luxury of being in the first room right by the main desk for the floor, with every change in staff I was able to over hear conversations at the desk. With the amount of racial slurs and profanity used I can not believe the people that work there are still employed. Not only did I have to listen to that but when they came into my room it carried on. Then I had to deal with a nurse that didn't like that I have tattoos, she made comments after comments about how I looked and the only problem I had was with my skin. Ordering food was a fight in it's self, all I wanted was ice water and fruit. I ordered that at 6:30am when the kitchen opened, I didn't receive the food till after 8am. They told me it took time to make the food.??? Make what? I asked! Then I started paying attention to the times I ordered to the time I received my food, the earliest I got my order was an hour and a half. I looked at the time they were putting on my order slip and they were 40-50 minutes off. I would pay the ambulance drivers to take me to another hospital so I would never have to go back!
My Mother was admitted here after being taken to ER from the nursing home she had been in.
She was here for a week and received excellent care!!! My Mother has severe dementia so she xan ve a challenge. All her needs were met and her dignity in tact. The hospital Social Worker was amazing and extremely helpful!!
This is a very untimely review however to have my stay in your hospital haunt 14 months later needs to be told. I was brought by ambulance with severe back pain numbness in legs and feet.. History of two lumbar fusions with hardware and cervical fusion with hardware. Evaluated sent to your "CCU" while decisions are made for treatment. Next morning three doctors came in states they had reviewed my MRI found nothing wrong and were sending me home! Thank God the E.R doctor who admitted me received the orders to discharge me and he REFUSED! He saw the MRI was NOT done in the area of pain and reordered the MRI. The second MRI should THREE DISTINCT FRACTURES OF THE SACRUM!! Once it was determined I WAS INJURED the demeanor of your nurses and staff completely changed! Suddenly I was NOT some JUNKIE looking for painkillers but a PATIENT who they had ignored for 36 hours! I was in your hospital for 60 hours and without going into great detail during my stay in CCU unit I encountered never having a change to clean gown or bed linens, not a bed it was a gurney. never given anything to wash my face or body afer asking several staff members, walking more than 30 feet with a walker to a bathroom with NO assistance wearing a FALL RISK bracelet and a sign above my bed staying "fall risk needs assistance", my curtailed room was next to the nurses station and every time I went to the bathroom there was no less than 5 staff behind the counter chatting about things OTHER than patients and THEIR NEEDS. In my curtailed room I listened to marriage problems, shopping bargains, attempting to get urine from a pet dog for the vet, and other subjects I cannot mention on a public forum. The bathroom walk was painful and embarrassing however grabbing the handicap rail and having dried feces on the back of the rail was beyond words! I immediately reported the problem to the staff at the nurses station They too were upset and picked up the phonethe feces the lack of patient care and remained the next day when I was discharged. I understand no hospital is perfect and I don't expect it to behowever the lack professionalism, the total absence of compassion and concern for the patients in your hospital by the staff makes me tell everyone I know and meet to NEVER GO THERE. I overheard a conversation between a female emergency room doctor and a CCU nurse outside the CURTAIN of my roomthis event happened in March of 2016the weather was cold and snowy. They were discussing a PATIENT who was being treated for frostbite on both feet. It seems there is a TIME LIMIT to stay in CCUthe female doctor told the nurse he was to be discharged that day..the nurse stated his feet were seriously frostbitten and they were trying to find a shelter or somewhere WARM for him to go because he was HOMELESS. The doctors' response. Not my problem! Get him out of here by 3p.m. TODAY! I can see IF SOMEONE has compassion and really cares when they walk through the doors of your hospital how easily they could lose it..
I used to work at this facility in that past. It is the most unprofessionally run institution I've ever worked in in my life. I wouldn't send my family or even my pet to this facility!
The lab desk receptionist was too focused on her busy work to greet us for 5 minutes. Then she barked orders at us about what to do and where to sit. Simple blood work turned into a horrible experience. Really shows they care for patients the way Christ would, since the plaster religion over everything. Maybe they should work a little more like their slogans.
This is the worst hospital ever I do not recommend anyone to go there the only thing they want is your money. I brought my dad here and they said it wasn't serious and let him go home. next day took him to Beaumont and they admitted him right away. Gave me false information and very rude. DO NOT GO THERE
