Terrible experience. No communication between department's. Did absolutely nothing to help me and just gave me the run around. Made me come back 4 times to get what I needed done and still did not do what THEY said they were going to do.Seems they do not care if you are living in pain.It has been over a month and a half and still have not done anything. Very unorganized. MRI department is the worse. Cant believe this is a professional hospital.

My dad is 82 years old and he went through a very difficult open heart surgery, with this surgery he had some major complications. After triple bypass he was on a vent and trache, and he was in ICU for two months. With all that, I was devastated, angry & frustrated trying to find the best Select facility for him to go to. Usually I read reviews and I made decisions based on the reviews I read. Just this once I decided just take a chance and go with Select Downriver. We decided to go there with an open mind and positive thoughts to help my dad to recover.

Of course at first I was overwhelmed, frustrated and scared, but Judy, who was a Charge Nurse that night, was great and made us feel comfortable. She had a friendly smile and welcomed us open-armed. Jessica and Row, who were our Nurses that night, were very hospitable and understanding. They made the whole admission process easy and smooth for us. They placed my dad at the room with a beautiful view overlooking the river.

Yes, we had a few differences, but with communications and open-mindedness we all were able to overcome our differences and work together as a one team in my dad’s recovery process. Doctors, Nurses, CNAs, respiratory team, physical therapy, and case management worked hard with us. They always listened and continually tried to accommodate our needs. My dad wasn’t able to move in bad, CNAs were turning him every 2-3 hours to avoid bed sours. Nurses were always nearby; it was very easy to communicate with Doctors. They were there every day even on weekends. Finally I felt that we were safe there!

We would like to thank each and every one of you there for your hard work, patience and dedication. Thank you for helping our loved ones, thank you for helping us, the families, too! I would like to thank special Nurse, Sanar, who was so kindhearted and understanding to my dad’s needs; tried to learn our language and speak to my dad just to make my father feel comfortable. His ambitions are unbelievable!

Thank you CNAs, Mira and T, you are so remarkable, you are the ones who were always available and helpful to my dad’s needs. T you are ROCK!
Thank you to Nurse Row, you are not only a great Nurse, you also are so humbled and funny. You are a great person and listener; you always made my dad smile.
Thank you Christina, Jessica, Pat1 and Pat 2 from the respiratory team, you made me believe that my dad will be off the trache and vent, and HE IS FINE NOW!!! Thank you all!!!
Thank you physical therapy team, Kelsey you made my dad believe that he can go back to his physical activities. We really enjoyed physical therapy with you guys!
Thank you Sarah, from speech therapy, for being always available and helpful to us, thank you for lending me an ear to talk to and to all the suggestions and vocal exercises!

Thank you Beca, the nutritionist, for accommodating us with our requests and just stepping into our room with a smile!

Thank you to the case manager, Sherry! She was dealing and helping us with all our insurance issues, and helping us move to the rehabilitation center.

For those who are looking for a good review I have a little suggestion; always be involved in the process with your loved one, keep an open mind, have clear communications with Nurses and CNAs. Remember the success of your loved ones getting well depends on you too! I would recommend this place without a doubt! God bless you all!

Going on vacation takes a lot of planning, excitement, and packing. What a surprise when you unexpectedly spend the entire summer in the hospital. I am what I call one of the lucky people who didn't plan, didn't pack a vacation bag, and definitely wasn't excited when I spent the entire summer in the Select Specialty Hospital in Wyandotte. When I arrived I immediately knew I was in a caring place because everyone there was kind, caring, and had a great sense of humor. This was my summer family. They answered every question I had, dried my tears, and contacted doctors with questions I had. Every time I hit that call light button they were right there no matter what I wanted. Some of us had very interesting conversations at 4:10 in the morning. Nothing I asked was ever looked at as a silly question. They all are the kindest, most knowledgeable, and most caring group of professionals. We talked about our families and our frustrations. I would recommend Select Specialty for an extended hospital stay. They are definitely a unique group of individuals

To the staff of Select Specialty Downriver, I express my wholehearted appreciation for your care and professional attention you have provided to my Father especially when he needed close attention the most in the 45 days he was there.
I was very worried when I was asked to move my father from garden city hospital to your facility, the first night we arrived that fear was gone when we met the wonderful and caring staff, they where amazing.
My mom & Dad gained a wonderful family with there stay, this photo says it all.
Although we lost my father in June, its been a difficult and hard on us. we still talk and share all the memories that we had at select.
So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My family and I will never forget what you've done for us and my father.

Been a patient of Select Medical for a month and had nothing but excellent care people are friendly and I feel they will bend over backwards for any needs I might have. I feel that anybody that has has a mind of coming to this facility they get a 5 star rating and will be just as satisfied as I am. I feel very lucky that I was able to get in this facility.
