What a lovely setup they have here. On a rural rolling hills grape farm (I can call it that, right??) with a beautiful old barn and house, South Creek Vineyards has a tasting room, gift shop, outdoor seating, and a deck with live music (when I was there on the weekend). You can buy a set of tastings, a glass, or a bottle to go or to drink there. Really a serene atmosphere. The wines were all quite enjoyable to taste, most with slight tangy flavors. I wanted to buy them alllll!!! The prices for the wine are spot on with what I've seen at wineries throughout the US. I felt the price of the tastings were just a weeeee bit steep, compared to those in the finger lakes region of NY in particular. Maybe I got spoiled there. The staff were friendly and the wine maker was quite knowledgeable. It made for a very enjoyable quick stop on our way to camping! Oh and bonus points to them for hosting a BBQ lunch fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey. Very cool. On the whole, If I pass by again i'll definitely stop in!

Jim and Mary make visiting their winery a lovely experience! From the personal and warm greetings to the wonderful wines and magical musical events, it is always a must do for us! This is like having our own personal Napa Valley in NC!

The best wine my wife and I have had in North Carolinaperiod. If I could afford it I'd take a bottle of everything I've had there home with me..but my wife tells me we have this thing called a mortgage.

To me, South Creek Winery is definitely one of the Top 5 best wineries in NC. I've been visiting this winery for 5 years or so and I've never been disappointed. I like French varietals and South Creek focuses only on Bordeaux-style dry wines. If you love dry reds and whites, this is the place for you. If you like sweeter wines you won't find them here, even though you may still like the stainless steel-aged Chardonnay and their Viognier (my favorite white varietal and a fairly rare find in NC) due to their crisp fruit-forward notes.

My favorite Merlot in NC is found here at South Creek and Maestro, their award-winning red blend is spectacular.

There are no fruit wines here and there are no muscadine, scuppernong or any other of the popular American varietals at South Creek. If you like fruit wines or American varietals, you can find wineries with 20 miles of South Creek that have them.

Mary and Jim are amazing hosts, who are always warm and welcoming. They really appreciate your visits and your return visits.

Plan to stay for a while and enjoy these wines in the outdoor patio area.

Jim & Mary are wonderful hosts. We greatly enjoyed our visit with them, and the wine is spectacular. Be sure to try (and buy) the Cabernet Franc or the Maestro.

We joined friends to kick off our NC Wine Country tour and as usual were not disappointed w/the wines. I'd put up the Maestro against any comparably-priced CA Meritage. Mary and Jim were fantastic hosts and we enjoyed a nice picnic on the deck and bottle of the 2011 "stainless" Chardonnay. We can't wait to go back to pick-up our wine club bottles.
