The best part of Steele creek is there is no cell phone service for any carrier. Can't answer phone if it doesn't ring!
Have been camping here for a long time and the ones running it now are nothing like the one's that made it a great place.after all the year we have camped here we will will not be back.
We did not have a good experience here. The management sent two guys to tare down our dam. We had just arrived and set up and they pulled in and came right down and started on our dam, no explanation no reason etc, we explained we just arrived and they didn't want to hear it. Management arrived on sight and he was VERY rude. We are looking for a new place to spend a week's worth of vacation money. $ 300.00 for 6 of us on one sight was a lot to not have an enjoyable time. I sent a personal letter with no response so management I'm sure will not care about this review. We spent from July 25, through the 30th.
Not only is this the "BEST" campground we've ever stayed at but it is also a great place to make new friends and spend time with ole friends We love it!
Very rude and unprofessional. They do not take care of there trees and a rotted tree fell on a friend's camper. Would not go there ever again. I have been there 2 times and they where very rude. There won't be a 3rd visit.
I feel that I need to share my experience with everyone out there. Let me start off by saying that this was my favorite childhood campground. Having my own kids now I wanted to share part of my childhood with them. Well that was not to be. First off the campground is VERY overcrowded. I was told that new ownership decided to expand. Anyways we have 3 dogs. One of which is a 50 pound Doberman rescue. We have had her since she was a puppy my toy poodle is meaner than she is. We began to walk her as she loves walks and were immediately stopped and told that Dobermans were not allowed in the park. Ok, I get it, she "looks" scary. BUT we saw a family walking their German Shepherd and another with their Pit Bull, so we thought ok, this place does love their dogs. Its about how you raise them well not the case. We were harassed repeatedly and after setting up camp in the rain we pulled up stakes and went less than 1 mile away and found a REAL pet friendly campground. Lovely place, and our dogs ran free. No one care and everyone got along pets mingled as well as people. We also were told by many of the patrons at this park that Steele Creek sucked we agree.
Family oriented Campground. Beautiful scenery in the heart of Morganton NC
A total showing of how greedy CASH money can make people.Racers for the GNCC were charged to park in this man's field where we paid a gate fee and a race entry fee.No other track on the whole 13 race series sticks it to em like Steele Creek and you should be ashamed to take all that cash.Wish GNCC would drop em off the circuit. These people are ruthless. No hot showers no camp store, candy bar and drink wow.Your facility can no longer handle this event in a professional manner
Very bad experience. I took my two kids and dog. Very calm dog and well behaved. I called in advance and looked at their pet friendly information. Did not know pets were not allowed on the beach or swimming area. Being there with kids and my pet, I was not able to watch both in two different areas at the same time. Individual there mentioned, people usually leave them in their tent or camper. Lol. Then someone would call the cops for animal cruelty. I wish I would have known this in advance and I would have made other arrangements. So with this and not being able to have an adult beverage on the property and relax I decided to pack up and come back home. There is great camp grounds out there. This is not one of them
Let me give the pros first..Nice clean park.Kid oriented.Baths clean
Now the cons.Cash only
Very crowded
Campers way to close( let me repeat that) way to close
Most campsites do not have fire rings and you can't have one if one is not on your site. Our fire ring supplied 4 or 5 sites and was way behind the campers.
One way in and one way out on a single lane road. Had to back up all the time to let people by. No parking on your site you do not have room. We parked in the edge of the woods at the back of someone else's camper.
They have a water slide it has a restricted weight limit on it. It also cost extra and so does the Putt-Putt.
We will never go to this park again!
