Only a couple of floors were accessible. Staff was a bit rude because I wasn't carrying around a Gucci bag, wearing diamonds.

Great auction house. their organization is so knowledgable, they comand the very best collectors in the world and their clients are not afraid to bid up an item that thay really want.
Thank you for the many years of selling my collectiables for me, Sotheby's. Their style & experience has single handily made me a very wealthy person over the course of 30 years.

His place you will love to go and see the auctions exhibitions. They always ha e something going on and you will regret to miss it! Great place to visit if you are an art lover.

Everyone we met was incredibly friendly. We went to set up an item for auction and we were given suggestions for other specialized studios or auctions that would be interested in our other items that didn't quite fit their buyers without sounding condensing. Very helpful and because they live for this stuff they will happily chat with you about the history of what ever your collection might be.
I've been looked/talked down to by hotels I was assigned to by my job because I'm not wearing the "right clothes". ("Are you sure it is THIS hotel? There is another down the road, we get confused with them all the time.") This has always made me anxious around places involving money. I was expecting the same attitude but the staff at Sotheby's treated everyone who walked through the door like they belonged with a friendly demeanor and respect. Great group of people to work with. Sit and talk with Selby Kiffer if you have the chance. He is one of the great minds to emerge in the rare book collecting arena in the last 30 years. So smart, and savvy at his business. But really the entire rare book department is truly world class.

I always thought it was closed off to the public for most events, well from non-rich people. But I went to the Hamilton special exhibition and it was such a great experience. I look forward to checking out many of the public exhibitions to come as they get some amazing pieces of art and history.
