Wonderful walk through the gilded age of history on these expansive grounds. The greenhouses and gardens are amazing and beautiful. Great place for a wedding venue as well.

I feel like I could visit these gardens 100 times and still not see all there is to see! You can wander through the gardens, or through the mansion! Reading the history and learning from the available docents. It is a true treat and very inspiring for avid gardeners or history buffs!

I went for the arts festival on the grounds which was well done with a good selection of high quality work. The park is always a nice place to visit. Many rooms are open again to view. They use to be roped off and that was no fun. I miss seeing the flowing water in the rock gardens.

Wow! What a place with history and landscapes that are breathtaking! One could easily spend hours here wandering though the gardens and historic buildings. There's also wine tasting available featuring New York State wines along with an impressive gift shop. Everyone we encountered was more than willing to answer any questions we had and also in very good spirits. We look forward to our next visit!

Really lovely grounds, knowledgeable tour guide, all staff were friendly and helpful. They have a scavenger hunt for kids to earn a prize. It kept my kids interested in exploring all the different areas large and small. Our guide was flexible in letting us come and go as we pleased. Made for an enjoyable visit for both me and my kids. Picnic table located near the parking lot makes it easy to bring a lunch.

This wasn't on the top of my list for my "wine" inspired vacation here in the Finger Lakes, but I am glad I went. Worth paying the small fee to gain access to the grounds. Had a lovely lady give us a ride in a golf cart type of shuttle and she was well informed about the history - wonderful experience. This is within walking distance to the downtown (about a mile) so we parked downtown by our lunch restaurant and hoofed it to the Gardens. This was key since they also do wine tastings at the tasting room under the gift shop. Each week they get in different wines to taste. We were impressed with the selection and the knowledge of the woman who conducted our tasting.

They closed the mansion for our Niece's wedding. We had full access to the mansion and everyone was wonderful.

Beautiful gardens. Lots of fun events during the Summer months. Great history. Take a tour, learn about the era of the Greek revival. The lady of the house was a collector of everything. Sections of the gardens are dedicated to different cultures. Most popular are the Japanese garden, and the Greek features. Hundreds of different kinds of trees and flowers. If you're lucky, you might even see the miniature deer that wander the grounds.

I really wish I could give this a higher review - let's say 3 1/2 stars). We'd gone to Sonnenberg about 15 years ago, and weren't overly impressed. I was hoping that it would be better. It is, slightly, and I see signs of renovation, but in general it needs a lot of work. Many fountains weren't working. The flowers were small (that one I can let go because of the drought). It's nicely laid out, with clear indications of where you are and what you are looking at, and it is quite lovely. The rock garden is very lovely, but again, the main feature from there is a waterfall and fountain, and it wasn't operational. The nicest part of the gardens are the oriental gardens. They were quite lovely, and well maintained.

I will go back, and hope to see even more improvements.

Oh, and a big bonus was the lovely woman at the admission desk. She made sure we got the best price to get in, showed us where we were, explained how to get around, explained about the grant to restore the greenhouse, very nice and helpful.
