The wildlife refuge is one of the best in the area. The alligators and waterfowl are exhilarating. Some old slave plantation house and cemetery are visible. Part of old Fife plantation. Free to drive/ walk through. Nice nature trail but a few miles long. Pack accordingly for a hike.

We really enjoyed the 4 mile wildlife drive at Savannah National Wildlife Refuge! The grounds were lovely, but we didn't get to walk any of the trails because we had a dog. We saw 2 alligators sunning in the water, and so many birds! It's absolutely worth stopping here if you're in the area. We also liked the flexibility of the drive because it can be as quick or a slow as you'd like, and you can tune into a radio station for an audio tour along the way. The gift shop is cute, and the visitor center has restrooms and water fountains.

Had a great time!!! The 4 mile drive actually took us 2 hours. We would stop and get out as others were as well. Took pics and saw many gators. Then went to visitor center and everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable!! Will come back many more times!!

We love spending the afternoon taking a ride through "alligator alley" as my family calls it. It's so peaceful and relaxing. If you go in May/June you will be lucky enough to see the Swallow Tail Kites feeding on dragonflies. We have even seen bobcats prowling the marshy swamps. Go slow and bring your camera! Watch out for snakes on the paths and enjoy the parts of the drive where you go under the mossy oak branches!

Really cool place. We saw multiple crocs which was awesome. If you can, biking through is lots of fun, just bring ponchos because it poured down rain when we were there.

Went to the welcome center hoping to go on a few trails but found the every trail start at a different location resulting in having to drive to every single trail. It would be good if a few of the trails linked back to the welcome center. Apart from that the trails are nice. Would recommend not going during the summer as it can get humid with lots of bugs flying around.

Beautiful facilities. Enjoyed the visitors center. Took the scenic drive and it was well worth it. Many gators. And some of the best live oaks with Spanish moss that we'd seen in the south.

Awesome place! You feel like you're in a different world. The wildlife you see there is unique and interesting. I highly recommend the driving tour for a good 2-3 hour adventure. We saw two American Alligators in the middle of the day. They say you in the early morning and evening if that's what you're going for. Only about 15 minutes from Savannah if you're in town.

Amazing park if you have time to drive slow, and pull over often.
We spent about 3hours here, and saw around 50+ alligators, not to mention other countless animals. This is really an amazing experience.
However if you drive through it at 20mph + as some people were doing, you will simply not get anything from this park other than possibly seeing a few birds.

We saw a lot of gators out there! Beautiful scenery and lots of birds! Perfect place for bird watching. We only took the drive, didn't do any hiking but there are plenty of long and short trails.

Awesome site to see wildlife. We only did the drive through tour, but it was awesome! We didn't see any bobcats, but saw pretty much everything else listed on their 'commonly found' pamphlet like Egrets and alligators. Drive through slowly or you'll miss them!

Great place to visit. Do the drive through first and tune your radio to the looping guide. It repeats, so you may have to turn it down between new sites.
Best place to view alligators and local waterfowl, rice paddies from the colonial days, huge live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss.
Parking inside park is limited. Only one port-o-let about a half mile in.
If you walk/run the place, bring your camera, sun screen hat and plenty of water!!! It gets really hot in the summer.
Across the entrance to the park there is another area where you can park and walk along the canals get really close to alligators sunning on the bank. Grass can grow really tall and lots of briers. In late summer you can pick blackberries, but watch for snakes and alligators!!!
Good for older kids, rough going for younger ones.
Wildlife interpretation center is far from the entry. Would be nice if they were close together or had a rest area with real bathrooms, but if you are into rustic, then this is the place!
