This is truly a special place with great leadership and staff. Highly recommended.
My family visits Camp St Christopher several times a year with various groups--Daughters of the King, Men's retreat, youth group retreats, and summer camp. The accommodations in the cabins are adequate for our type of events. I usually chaperone youth, so I'm always in a cabin. The food is very good and abundant. You'll spend a good deal of time walking to and from lodging to retreat facilities which is even nicer with the updated boardwalk. The beachfront is quiet and peaceful.
Summer camp for our kids has been a great experience for the last 4 years. They enjoy the variety of activities, and really, who wouldn't want to spend a week on the beach?!
I have visited St. Christopher's a couple of times, each time staying in Jamie's Lodge. It's been "off" season, so it's quiet on the beach as well as on campus. The staff is really sweet and helpful, and the rooms are very clean. The view from the upper deck of Jamie's is amazing! We are planning a couples retreat in a few months, and are excited to share this little piece of Heaven with our church family!
My child's school attended an educational overnight trip here. We were notified after the retreat that bed bugs had been discovered immediately after our group left. We later learned via the news that the camp had been having bed bug infestations for three months PRIOR to our group. We also found out they didn't tell the group behind ours abt the bed bugs. That group checked in on the day our group left. There's no way the camp treated adequately. They have refused to return fees or compensate for lost belongings / luggage. One would think that the Catholic Church would have learned it's lesson about trying to cover things up.
Not only is St. Christopher an exceptional Christian camp and conference center, but it provides outstanding environmental education for thousands of students every year through Barrier Island Outdoor Education Center. I am grateful for the level of excellence provided by the dedicated staff. St Christopher is a special and anointed place.
This has been a very important place for my spiritual growth and encouragement. I have heard it called "a thin place" many times. God's Spirit is active here because He is so consistently invited to be so. They are serious here about their mission to provide rest, restoration and renewal. Enjoy all of the above for yourself. Call to make a reservation or attend one of the many conferences.
