Favorite sushi restaurant in the lansing area. Not as over priced or Americanized as maru. Happy hour from 4-6 has really good deals that I highly recommend. Never been disappointed with my selections. Vegas roll is a favorite. Atmosphere is really cool. I love to sit at the tables that are lowered and on wood floor. Service is ok the food and price make up for it.
Their sushi is so good! And there are lots of options. They've also got meal options like bento boxes etc. I'm less experienced with those. If you get rolls it comes with soup and a salad with peanut sauce that is yummy. A little pricy, but worth it. I recommend reservations in the evening.
I and a friend sat at the bar area rather than a table. The sushi chefs were pleasant, our waitress tended to us in a timely manner, and was able to recommend some nice beverages and meals for us. Generally Sansu is very busy. Always expect a wait here during dinner hours, especially during Fridays and the weekend. I would recommend any sushi roll that isn't overly dredged in sauce, since their quality of fish is higher compared to other "sushi" places in the area. As a result, you can actually enjoy the fish rather than all the toppings. They do have other amazing dishes available if fish/meat is not part of your diet. Overall, great food and great service make for an enjoyable meal even if they are busy.
Five star for environment.
Five star for friendly staff.
Four star for choice of food.
Three star for the taste. Since this fancy restaurant holds just about average level of sushi and there is nothing highlight or special among other sushi place in Michigan.
Love this place. Visit here often for the lunch specials. Usually get the Spider and Devil roll combo. They come with a salad, miso soup, and noodles. Saki is great as well (I like Ruby). There are many other great sushi rolls here.
Even though I went on a Friday night and it was packed, my party received fast service and the food was excellent! The atmosphere is professional yet comfortable, providing the perfect dining experience. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant!
Book the small room. and order the veg. gyoza appetizer before dinner!!! The service is great and good food!!! Owned by a local family they are always there to make sure you are happy! A nice night out!
When I called the lady who took the call acted as if she didn't want my business after I inquired about a reservation. Good food. OK service.
They have amazing sushi with a wide variety of rolls to choose from for everyone. Even people who are just starting with sushi can find one here to enjoy. You also can see the chefs making the sushi so you know it's fresh. It is hands down the best sushi I've ever had. I would just highly recommend making a reservation before coming here.
Unique seating with sunken floors! You have to take your shoes off to sit in the fancy seats but the food is excellent. Our group of four went on a busy Thursday night and the service was very slow. One in our group got her sushi roll after all of us were halfway through our entrees.
This place has some of the best sashimi in mid-Michigan, and for that they'd get five stars-- if their service wasn't as bad as it sometimes is. It is very hit or miss; sometimes they are on the ball and sometimes they drop that ball and kick it around as if there aren't twenty people waiting to be seated. The servers are friendly and I'm sure they'd be more attentive, but they have to tend so many tables at once, things inevitably fall through the cracks.
Also, parking is pretty atrocious in Hagadorn Plaza; make a reservation and get there early.
Otherwise, Sansu is great. Awesome food, nice ambiance, I suppose it's a good place for a date, if that's your thing.
When I lived in EL, I used to come here weekly for the 4:30-6pm happy hour specials. Best quality sushi in the area, and some of the best I've found across the country. My go to is spicy salmon or tuna and tempura salmon or tuna. Two rolls, soup, and salad out the door with tip for $15.
