I want to vent my great frustration with the Botanical Garden. The issue: Handicapped access to the old park. Renovations and new additions are great. My issue is being always with the uneven surface stones that covered the old park. My son is in wheelchair and one the worst surfaces for wheelchair is the bumpy uneven grounds from the old park and ramps access to the Japanese area, roses,Texas landscape and fountains, doors to the orchids, no access to the cactus areas and the list goes on and on. Why the main entrance area have such a incline drive? Try to push someone with a wheelchair up a hill? Anybody in charge get on a wheelchair or walker and tried to navigated through the park and you would realized why my frustration is all about. Better idea: put your son or daughter on a beautiful day on a wheelchair and you will realized what is this all about. Someone needs to investigate this issue and money needs to be invested asap before complains turned into demands.

Lovely gardens with easy walking paths. The 100+ acres deserve more than a quick walk through. The restored cabins, the water features and frequent resting areas suit all ages.

One of my favorite places. Great for kids, dates, photographers, schools, or just being outside on a pleasant day. Currently adding on a large area as of this review. Everyone should spend a few hours here if they visit SA. Relaxing and you might learn something to boot

Great location, awesome plant life, fun outing for the family!
The pictures you can get out of this place is definetly worth the trip. The shade the trees and plants provide makes it a great place to visit all year round.

Fun educational place. Buy some food baggies for the critters, you won't regret it. The turtles and ducks are neat to feed. Alot of different plants to see. A couple places of history to see as well. Interesting and quiet place to relax and walk.

The botanical garden is and always has been a beautiful place to visit. I bring all of my family/friends who are out of town for a trip there. Most people really enjoy it and there are some true "nuggets" there, the fern garden and be sure to snag an orange on your way out ;-)

Beautiful, spacious garden with plenty of spaces to sit down and enjoy a picnic. Celebrated 4th of July here and watched the fireworks show. The line gets crazy long so make sure to arrive early! Unfortunately most of the exhibits were closed, but I'd love to come back and spend more time here.

My family and I had a blast walking around and seeing all of the different plants/trees that we wouldn't normally see where we live. It was educational for all of us. Granted, we did go in the heat of the day in summer but there were lots of places to sit in the shade and catch our breath. We are seriously considering getting a yearly pass.

Went with my fiance a while back on a day that was crazy hot! I recommend going on a day that is more on the mild side unless you want to sweat through all your clothes going through the green houses! The flowers and plants are absolutely stunning though! They have made an amazing oasis in the middle of SA! I got plenty of info about marriage ceremonies from the information desk and can't wait to book a day!

Wonderful place for people of all ages. The conservatories are beautiful and the outdoor amphitheatre is terrific. And the Carriage House has AMAZING brunch!

Beautiful botanical garden. With the Alamo and the River Walk getting so much attention in San Antonio, make sure you put this one on your to-do list. One of the best botanical gardens I've been to by far!

This is one of the first botanical gardens I've been to in the states and it was wonderful!!! We went during March so there were plenty of flowers beginning to bloom although I hear they have flowers for every season. The area is breath taking! This place captured our interest. I'd recommend to hit this place up early in the morning while its still cool because you'll want to take your time walking around this place. I'm considering taking some snacks next time in a pack to enjoy a small picnic surrounded by all that beauty!

When I was single I brought dates here. Lots of great spots for fun, romance, photos, and picnics--what ever you are looking for. Lovely setting for all occasions. Now that I am married with kids we are members and take advantage of the duck/turtle/fish feeding at the lake (bring your own bread), the traveling exhibits they offer, and family walks. Membership is best--that way you don't feel you have to do it all at once. This is not a good place to be in a hurry! Currently undergoing massive expansion, should be complete in 2017. Construction doesn't interfere with your enjoyment of the space.
