My mom went in yesterday at 12pm for a procedure. My,dad got a call at 445 stating that she was still in,surgery and that she will be staying overnight. No other I,information given.
I called back and spoke with the operator, provided a full spelling of my mothers last name and the operator told me she couldn't find her. Sent my call to the ER, where my mother was NOT at. Then I waa transferred back to the operator, who "tried" again to find her and still,couldnt find her, then sent me over to another department, where no one picked up.
I called back,again asked for cardiology to find out that the office was closed and to call back and ask for the covering doctor.
I called back again, got the same operator, she transferred me over to the covering doctor who was NOT in cardiology and was driving home at the time!!!!
I called back AGAIN got the same operator and this time she transferred me to the senior operator who took the time to call a few departments to find my mother.
I was able to talk to the nurse taking care of my mother and gave me some information.
I am NOT happy with the operator service at St V's. They are not trained enough and do not put in the time nor the effort to help someone who is trying to locate their loved one. Considering it took 3-4 calls and the last call took 5 mins from the senior operator to find my mother.response / report this review -

They have genuinely good staff working there but I feel like once you go into the emergency room and you tell them the problem they don’t listen. Like they just don’t listen you tell them everything and they just like basically give you Tylenol and send you on your way. I was there yesterday and a guy literally walked out because they took 2 hours just to see him,Then once he left the staff started talking about him.

I was just in the ER Thursday night through early Friday morning (3/8/18-3/9/18). The way I was treated was horrendous.I was brought in by ambulance with excruciating back pain, so much so that I was curled up on my side. I had one person take my vitals, and said a doctor would be with me very shortly. A good hour went by and no one came to talk to me. Then another nurse came in and said to me ok lets get you up and have you pee in a cup. Which my response was that I couldn't, because if I tried to straighten my legs my pain went from a 7 to a full blown 10 including tears and screams. Her response was well we won't help you till you see in a cup.
My husband and I were appalled we came to realization they were treating me as an addict instead of actually helping me with the pain I was having. Time kept going on and then finally somebody came in and said oh it will give you an IV of fluids and they gave me one pain medication. They didn't come back in my room until the whole IV bag was gone basically to the point where my bladder felt like it was going to explode. I had to go the bathroom but again they said while your options are a bedpan or going and getting up and walking into the bathroom to go because we need a sample. I tried using the bedpan but with them trying to hold me up so I could go it was so excruciating I couldn't so I had to go back down in the excruciating pain crying. The nurse is like fine I'm going to go get you morphine and maybe that will help you get up and walk to the bathroom so we can get a sample out of you. I got so upset after finally calming down of hyperventilating crying because I was in so much pain from them holding me up I said I did not want any medicine I wanted to figure out why I was in so much pain and why weren't they trying to figure it out it wasn't right. And only then was I brought in for an x-ray which again was excruciating and still by the end of that I had to use the restroom. They wouldn't use a catheter because I'm 31 I obviously couldn't use the bedpan so they turned around had 2 people basically trying to hold me up to get to the bathroom because I couldn't put the pressure on myself to get in there. After all that was said and done when I got back to my room still in excruciating pain of being shifted and moved in my x-rays came back they didn't see anything and they said well we're going to give you one medication and send you home we're going to give you two things to be at home with and sorry that's all we can do go follow up with your primary care doctor. I have never been so poorly taken care of in my entire life I understand that there are people out there that yes will go to an ER just so they can get a fix for their drug habits but I am not one of them and I resent the fact I was treated that way I would never recommend anybody ever going there ever. And I would love to file a more in-depth complained with somebody in the hospital. Nobody should be treated that way.response / report this review -

I recently had surgery at this hospital after an accident. I received the best care from every doctor, nurse, PCA, and even house cleaning staff. I started out in the ER and the care I received there was great too. Thank you for making the best of a tough situation.

I have been trying to find out who to file a complaint with at this hospital and keep getting the run around. My mom was inpatient from 12/25 to 12/29 at which time she was sent to rehab. Sometime between 12/27 and 12/29 one of her medications was discontinued. Can't get an answer from anyone as to why. It's on a consult list on the 12/27 but not on the discharge paperwork on 12/29 (not even under medications that were discontinued). This led her to get a UTI while at rehab and had to go back to the hospital (a different one this time) for well over a week and then back to rehab. This is definitely poor medical practice and should never have happened.

I had an unexpected exacerbation after a routine procedure which resulted in my being admitted to the Pulmonary Care Unit for two days. I was very impressed with the care I received. The Nurses and Doctors were excellent. The nurses and support staff were genuinely personable supportive and caring. I felt comfortable and was confident that I was receiving excellent treatment.

You know.The medical staff at St. V's is not there to wait on you. If you have decided to go to the ER, chances are you are going to miss a meal. Deal with it. It's not a restaurant. Also, if you are "so sick" that you need ER care, it is possible you may need some procedure that could require fasting, so they don't want to postpone possible care because your tummy was rumbling. Meals are a courtesy, not a right. In fact, if you are in the ER, and not admitted, I do not think they are obligated to feed you like some all inclusive resort. As for you having to wait.have you ever seen some of the dregs of society in an ER waiting room? Your stomach ache, vomiting, cut finger, drunkenness, braxton hicks, gang brawl injury, moderate mental illness, hypochondria, or attempt at getting pain meds runs a distant second to the heart attack or stroke victim, the kid just hit by a car, the pregnant women just involved in a car accident, the overdose, suicide attempt, or the gunshot/stabbing victim. Sorry. Like it or not. As for you thinking noon shouldn't be crowded? IT'S AN EMERGENCY ROOM. Emergencies happen at all times of the day or night. Just because it's noon, doesn't mean they are not busy. That was probably one of the most idiotic statements I have read here, even dumber than the hungry person who complained she couldn't get a meal at 3 am, but thanks for the chuckle. The nurses run the show and do all of the bull work, and you are not the only patient. Try being nice instead of demanding, and the courtesy might be reciprocated. They may not have heard back yet from the doctor, and here you are aggravated because you have to wait 46or 12 hours in the ER. I am amazed by people who NEED NEED NEED the ER, yet want to be out in 2 hours. Too bad. If you want fast service, go to a McDonald's drive thru. That way, you can get your fast service, food, and friendly smile all in one quick stop. If you have a life threatening emergency, injury, or illness, go to the ER and be grateful there are trained medical professionals willing to help you, and keep in mind they probably worked a much longer day or night than you did. By the wayI am NOT a nurse, doctor, or hospital staff, but I do feel for those poor slobs after reading some of these comments.response / report this review -

Came home crying from the awful treatment and pain I had during a recent visit here. Had an Echocardiogram here and the technician was
rude and inconsiderate. She was obviously in a rush and not happy to be doing the test because they squeezed me in at the last minute. per my Dr.'s request. The technician was rough and hurt me throughout the hour long test and even though I told her she was hurting me she continued to do so and told me I likely had fibromyalgia instead of owning the fact that she was hurting me. In addition she threw a gown at me and remained in the room while I changed and I wasn't allowed my privacy at all or to fold my clothes. It was an awful experience and next time I will go to my local hospital as planned instead of being hurt and treated badly here.response / report this review -

Hands down the WORST emergency room! They asked for samples after losing them for the second time, they asked to get blood work when someone had already done so 10 minutes ago and when she attempted to draw blood she couldn't, I saw not one, not two but three different PA's that asked me the same exact questions without knowing the other ones had already spoke with me and let me not forget the leaking urine sample they left on my bed by my legs. Oh, and did I mention this was all after I waited for 7 1/2 hours! To top it all off, when I decided I had enough bc they couldn't figure out where my result were the PA started giving me attitude and told me to "just leave" or "let me tell you how you might die if you do leave." Thank you for making me feel care for and safe St. V ER staff. P.S. I didn't die after I left your facility.

The lady in the maternity ward next to me had a C section and had no one to help with the new baby and the nurses on the day shift where really nice to her. However I noticed at night and as the days went on they yelled at her because she could not take care of her baby. I don't want to sound racist but I noticed that it was any one with a foreign, African, Indian and Some Spanish accents yelling at her.
If your pregnancy goes well that is fine. Don't come here alone or get a section here. Don't have complications. Some of these people have no bedside manner and should not work with mother's and new norms. I am glad I was with my wife and would not return to the hospital.response / report this review -

Worst experience ever!!!! Horrible ER staff. Came in on 5/8/17 and the wait time was 4.5 hours in which I waited. I was throwing up in the mean time & asked the triage nurse for some saltines & Tylenol. She was very rude and said when ever I get a chance I will. She could've said it in a nice way. I understand ER can be busy Ive worked in the emergency room for 3 years myself. She took 1 hour to even get back to me with saltines after I been here for 4 hours in the waiting room vomiting. Worst service ever!! Do not waste your time.

I had open heart surgery. Aortic valve
replaced as well as a patch on my aorta . I was happy to have an excellent surgeon Dr Bojar. He saved my life. Thank you , happy to be alive. Very grateful . Very good medical team. Your the best.response / report this review
