This hospital is not what it used to be! The nurses act like they're doing you a favor, ( they are not , they get paid very well) I was put in a room with dirty articles from the previous patient.
I asked for a new tooth paste as the on there had been used! It took 3 times for nurses aid to finally do it. I asked i f i may have ice , thus interrupting her conversation with her coworker and interrupted their laughing, she stared at me like " how dare You!
Floors filthy ! Old wheelchair still in room with soiled. I was in so much pain! ,couldnt walk i asked for a walker so I can lean on it to make it to the bathroom, no was the answer , your to young for that! But failed to ask if I needed assist. They change my room and I needed a nurse and to my surprise no call bell! I waited patiently trying to see if some soul would pass by to get me help! Finally I had to call my mother who was out if state in desperation! She called nurses supervisor and so on. Was ready to sign out and transfer to another hosp. Dr. Said I could go home. Came out worse then I went in, real horror story. Even on discharge the nurse manager was to coordinate all service for home, like a nurse to wrap my wounds and never did that, staff is not proffessional, low moral , poor elderly who get thrown there with out a voice! I'm only 30 thats why I was able to make it out alive!!response / report this review -

Had 2 knee surgeries and 3 hand surgeries in the past 2 years all of them out patient procedures. I had a very good experience with every surgery, with the staff and all follow ups. I have also come here to their emergency room on a few occasions and have always been in and out in 3 hours or less sometimes 1 hour which is amazing considering I got great treatment each time. I can't comment on admitted stays as I never needed to be admitted but some of the negative reviews are about stays over night which looks like they may need to improve on. All my experiences have been positive

I went there because I had Bell's palsy and they charged me $2000 to tell me what I already knew. Then I paid and they sent me another bill for $300. And another for $700. Even though they told me we were good after the first payment.

Terrible hospital will never step in that place my boyfriend was admitted there and sent to the oncology unit ,they shouldn't even call it that .no compassion from the nurses too busy on the,computers . The only time I saw a nurse in the room when my boyfriend needed pain meds. They need the nurses to get a reality check and further classes how to deal with people's feeling .(humans not cattle)they need education on human compassion . The Drs on the case didn't even know my boyfriend name when they visited. Never will forget that experience. He has passed and 2 yrs later , this experience still haunts me.This "hospital " should be DELETED SHAME ON ALL OF YOU

My mother was in ICU for about a week after having two strokes and complications, and the staff were very good and caring. There was a volunteer who came in for a couple of minutes who played and sang a couple of songs for her and my step dad who was at her side, and for those few moments I could see that they both were at a feeling of peace and serenity. It was beautiful. Thank You.

The worst experience ever and more than once. The only reason I went there was because my surgeon was affiliated with the hospital and I needed an emergency surgical procedure on a Sunday . The two times before were for hernia repairs and fortunately I did not have to stay long. Turned out he was retired but did not know until after I arrived in emergency and was checked in. I was left in the emergency area on a gurney overnight in severe pain and was brought to a room in the morning. A designer sweatshirt that was in the clothes bag sent to my room mysteriously disappeared. All of my other clothes made it to my room. After the surgery the room I was put in was disgustingly filthy and for the most part outside of one or two people, the staff could have cared less about what was going on. At one point they put a guy in the room with me that was being treated for alcoholism and was ranting and raving through the night and as a result got no sleep. I asked that he be removed in the morning. I could go on forever and I would not give this place even one star if i could. I will go on record to say if I was dying and this hospital was the closest I would ask to be taken somewhere else and take my chances with the extra distance. The place is beyond terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I've had surgery here, two of my specialists are out of this hospital, and it is the only ER I trust. Yesterday I spent 7 hours sitting in the Stony Brook ER waiting room. I left, went to St. Catherine's, and was in and out in 3 hours. They're attentive, clean, knowledgeable, and I've never had a long wait.

Horrible. Was assaulted and went there to be evaluated after being strangled and one of the lady doctors told me that I was most likely fine because she could not see any exterior injuries. She told me to just keep taking mortin which I explained didnt work and here I am a month later with worsening pain. On top of that she was very rude and aggressive. She pulled my neck after I told her how badly it hurt and then made it seem like it wasn't as serious as I was making it out to be. Then recommended I come back if it still hurts. I will not be going back but I don't know where else to go being that I have bad experiences with Stony Brook as well. I waited 5 hours there and spent a total of 25 minutes actually being helped for nothing. Serious issues should not go there.

Arrived in the ER at 9:45 am. First shift of nursing staff was very pleasant. Once we spoke to the Dr re: my son's condition, he advised that they will put him on a liquid diet and he will need to be admitted. Second shift of nurses came in @ 7:00 pm. Tamara, one of the nurses on staff attended to my son for the first few hours and was certainly not very friendly. By 11:00 pm (again, we have been there since 9:45 am), I asked Tamara if she had an idea of when he would be getting a room. Her answer was "I have no clue". I then went to Registration to try and get a better answer. The person in Registration spoke to the nurses and came back and said they have to wait for a room in "isolation" which takes a while longer (due to an infection he had). I asked what was the difference if he's in the ER in a wide opened space already - he certainly wasn't in isolation this entire time. I then went back to the ER, spoke to the Nurse Supervisor who advised we will be getting a private room in the ER by approximately 1:00 am. This entire time, Tamara did not tend to my son AT ALL. I then asked Tamara if she could give him some liquids, and her response was "No"!. I advised her that the Dr ordered a liquid diet, which she then checked the computer and came back with a tiny cup of jello. Needless to say he had nothing to eat for over 24 hours. I was then advised by the Nurse Supervisor that they were able to locate him a room on the 4th floor.
In addition, I find it deplorable how some of these nurses treated the patients. There was one male nurse who had absolutely no patience with his patients. One elderly woman asked to use the bathroom and he said "I'll get you a bed pan". She said "I don't need a bed pan, I can walk to the bathroom". He said "No, I will bring you a bedpan". This nurse was too lazy to assist her to the bathroom and wanted to take the easy way out. He then asked another nurse if the patient is able to walk to bathroom and the answer was Yes. They also left a patient in the curtain next to us in feces for some time. Unfortunately this patient was unable to speak or communication. This was not pleasant to be sitting next to once they decided to change him. They should also have more respect for people's privacy - half of the patients are walking around in robes that are way too small, with their backsides hanging out, and some elderly were in diapers. Have some respect for these people, especially for the elderly!
To all the nurses: this is what you signed up for. If you are unable to handle the patients, you should find another occupation.response / report this review -

Best hospital ever. My son was there for 4 days and the staff was excellent. Very clean. I'd recommend this hospital in a heart beat.

I had out patient surgery last Friday February 10, 2017. I was very impressed with the staff. Their attentiveness and bedside manner was top notch!! I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone looking to have outpatient surgery. Dr Coombs is my podiatrist and surgeon. I would highly recommend him also. The hospital called me tonight to see how I am doing!! Like I saidI am very impressed. A big thank you to all the nurses, doctors and entire staff of St Catherine of Sienna Medical Center. You made a very nerve racking experience almost pleasant!!!

I started at the Women's Health Pavilion for a biopsy and ended up having a some major surgery at the facility. I experienced the women"s pavilion, the medical center, the hospital, and all associated with these areas. I found that working with everyone from the cafeteria, to the receptionists to the doctors and surgeons was a really good experience. You are treated as a person with dignity and caring along with the great expertise we should all demand. Some of the facilities need updating but they are very clean and everyone is very infection conscious.

The staff here is the most discourteous stuff I have ever seen anywhere I've gotten better treatment from the staff at DMV ( probably could get better health care there too) we were hung up on twice while being nothing but pleasant and trying advocate for a family member. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy the staff there should be ashamed of themselves. It disgusting that they call themselves healthcare providers.

I am a patient that had bowel complications, I came to St Catherine's to get help. They took me in without any problems"of course cause I have Medicare"took a cat scan gave me some pain meds and completely forgot about me. Its 11:03 and I'm in the ER at bed 6 in front of the nurse station being completely unattended. Can anyone please help me, I'm in pain!!! I had bowel surgery on Nov 11,2016. Please help me

The nurses and doctors there are terrible. My mom was having an allergic reaction and throat was closing; the ER made her wait for 20 minutes. Also terrible for cardiac they don't know how to properly diagnose. Incompetent and rude

The worst experience!! My husband went to ER with gall stones, after a CT Scan one of the Doctors told him he was going to get surgery, he was admitted upstairs, and they gave him 1 dose of antibiotics and Morphine, for the next 8 hours, no Dr came to see him again, when we mentioned the surgeries to one of the nurses, the answer was "well the Dr didn't mentioned anything on his notes", 2 more doses of morphine were given, no antibiotics whatsoever. The male nurse was so unprofessional, his first name was "SAM".. we was flirting with another nurse, we literally saw them touching each other.. that wasn't the worst part. Finally the Dr came (a different one) and said they couldn't do surgery because the liver enzymes were too high, ok no problem, we were expecting more antibiotics since they told us he had an infection. After 15 hours we requested to see the Dr and the answer was that they didn't have a Dr, it was "on call". 3 hours later my husband started to have a fever, and the nurses answer was that she couldn't call the Dr because the fever was only 103 F.. and they were going to treat it with ice packs only. At that point my husband had been with an infected gallbladder, turning yellow, fever and was out all day with the morphine, no other treatment At that moment 11:00 pm I decided to take him out of there; when we got to Stony Brook the Doctor told us that the infection had reached his bloodstream. Finally he had surgery and was in the hospital for 7 days, that's how severe the infection was Never again

Extremely unsanitary. contacted OSHA . Staff not well educated, rude, no compassion and nursing skills lacking. Staff seemed to be walking around with nothing to do, call bells going off and could hear staff discussing other patients. I heard 2 employees trying to figure out what word described a patient and really enjoying themselves?? They said " obnoxious". Had blood drawn on 2 occasions nurses forget to take tourniquets off and blood gushes all over me, floor, bedding and they leave it to be cleaned up by someone else.
Staff always has an excuse when asked a question. I advised them of my medication allergies yet they tried to give me that same medication they prescribed years ago in their ER which caused swelling of my tongue & difficulty breathing !!!Had kidney infection took 3 visits to ER in 2 days before antibiotics prescribed. Also, CT scan showed lung mass and never advised me. Days later i was reading over discharge papers and read it myself on CT scan results. Called ER spoke to MD who advised me they should have done or gotten a pulmonary doctor to do more testing/ biopsy. I have contacted a malpractice lawyer and have a very strong case .
MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE!! The word in the community is "St Catherines is not even fit to treat animals."
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.
The patient advocate did try to help me but offered , if she could leave, to take me to another hosital immediately. I spoke with administration and their answer was " I could go to another hospital They could not help me and honestly could care less they could not override physicians???"
