Daughter had lessons 25 years ago.grandchildren getting lessons now.
Love Rose and her instructors, so good with the children
Facility has grown with large indoor area
Horses well cared for and have wonderful temperaments.

I took lessons at Saddlebrook for about 7 months last year. I am an experienced, adult rider. I formerly owned horses and have had many instructors and barn experiences through the years, so I know what to look for. I found that the instructors at SB were generally quite competent for this type of establishment, and 2 out of the 3 were also nice, caring individuals. Also, there were some decent lesson horses. My main concerns with SB were with the facilities and the care of the horses. The outside ring is immediatley adjacent to the busy road, which I found very unsafe. During my time there, I was aware of numerous instances where horses spooked, and riders were thrown. On at least one occasion, a child was taken to the hospital. The indoor ring wasn't much better, as the light was dim and horses always seemed to spook at one end. The footing also wasn't very good. I also felt the horses lacked good care. The bridles/reins weren't clean, and the saddle pads were sweaty and dirty. Everything always looked like it needed a good wash. The horses weren't bedded well, and the overall barn was dirty. I feel this shows lack of regard for the comfort and welfare of the horses. It also sets a bad example for the kids who are learning to ride there. As a child learnig basic horsemanship skills, I was always taught that the horse comes first; and that cleanliness was super-important. I think SB has the potential to be better. I don't want to totally knock them, but they need to take better care of the horses, and perhaps do something to make the indoor a safer place to ride (since there isn't much that can be done about the outdoor).
