I have went to Rons for 25 years. I go for the Tristen Lobster and egg yolk sauce. My entire family used to go and only a couple still do. About a year ago they changed there lobster and while it is ok, it is not what I go for. Won’t be back.
Then I had a pop up on Facebook. I gave them a 5 star review a while back and was going to change it. I had posted a comment a while back about not liking the lobster. I AM BLOCKED from there Facebook page. Can’t even change my 5 stars to 1. So they just block people rather than fix the problem?
Always good food. Nice people. Not so busy tonight so we were able to have a nice conversation with our waitress & chef.
Great atmosphere but food lacked quality and cook lacked personality
The food while delicious, is DRENCHED in grease. You would expect at an average of $50-$60 minimum per person the service would be a little better Our chef was incredibly rude and the waitress may as well have been a ghost of teppanyaki past. I wish I could give less than 1 star. Especially because it is practically impossible to eat here without almost immediate diarrhea with the levels of grease. It's just not worth it.
Food quality so-so. Ambience is cute. But, the price for the experience is a 2star.
Horriable!! Worst restaurant in Chicago!!! We went as party of 6 based on the reviews on line, so I decided to write a trueful review. Horrible!!!! Over priced, food quality fair, portion size small for the money. They only offered one salad dressing which they said was a ginger, no ginger taste at all just mayo. Never again for us!!!!!!
Terrible service. We sat there for an hour, only got a soup and little salad. Food is so-so, and the waiter mischarge other table's dishes on ours, and wait another century to correct the bill. Won't come to this restaurant again, service doesn't deserve the price.
Great Japanese steak house. Food is consistently excellent. Their standards remain extremely high for quality and service after many years. The selection of options is broad, they're glad to customize, and all of the sides and appetizers are likewise very good.
Sooooo delicious! Beautiful restaurant too! Best to make reservations and be prepared to share a table with strangers if you have a small party. I always order the crown dinner that way I can order my steak and have some shrimp too! EGG SAUCE!!! Omg so rich creamy and delicious! Goes great on shrimp and rice. and steak lol!!! Make sure you take enough money. It is pricey but so worth it!
We had 8 people at Ron of Japan's this evening, four adults and three children, celebrating two of our grandson's birthdays. We arrived a little early, but they were willing to show us to our table early, so that we could attach birthday balloons to the chairs at our table.
While we were in the bar waiting for our guests to arrive, we had a couple of glasses of wine. They were very generous with their pours, and they served excellent n. Caifornia wines.
When our guests arrived, we were shown to our table, where we all ordered steak dinners and fried rice. It was all delicious. Our cook and our waiter were a lot of fun and provided excellent service. Our dinner was expensive, but it was worth it!
If this review allowed us to rate Ron of Japan with six stars, we would have done it.
Appears to be under new management. Vibes seems a little different, more updated with the outdoor patio. Food quality is still the same - delicious
Absolutely love this spot..from the inside makes you feel like you are in Japan! Excellent food! Make sure you get the butter/egg sauce on your shrimp! Prices have definitely gone up at this place though. Not cheap
One of my favorite places, great food: seafood, stake, fresh veggies, fried rice ALL cooked in front of you Awesome experience, must do it at least once, than you're hooked. :-D
I love it, my kids love it, everyone I took her loved it. I've got out of town relatives, now every time they're in town, want a Ron of Japan.
Sometimes you have to wait a bit It's a process, you have to share a table of ten or as close as possible so, have a little patience unless you're almost ten
