I tried to make an appointment with my doctor for a recently developed irregular heartbeat. I’ve known people who’ve been living with it for years. My doctor wouldn’t take an appointment and told me to go to emergency room. Probably because I’m in my 60’s. Ugh! I finally decided to go to the Riverside Community Hospital emergency room…at 2 in the morning. I walked up to 2 security guards who kindly directed me to where the ER window was located. At the ER window, Bryce said I made the right decision to come in. He was very informative and had my bracelet on me within 5 minutes. He walked me into Triage where he hooked me up to an EKG and had results within 5 minutes. The girl collecting my info there was very nice, too. A blood nurse came by and took my blood. Never felt a thing. I’m not sure who gave me my Patient Passport, but I thought the passport was great. It showed me the procedures that I was going to go through and the approximate times. Niko from Admissions then rolled up with his computer and collected additional information. He was funny and made me feel comfortable. He was going to wheelchair me to my room, but I told him I wanted to walk. So he led me to my room where Kelly hooked me up to monitors and took my vitals. Within a few minutes, an X-ray tech came by and took a chest X-ray right at the bed. RN Anna took over and updated me on my X-ray and bloodwork status. She said once they’re done, the doctor would review them and be in to see me. That all happened easily within 45 minutes. My passport said it could take up to 2 hours for X-rays and bloodwork. So I waited. Dr. Wagner then came in and told me I was experiencing palpitations. He said I was in excellent health other than the palpitations. He was very informative, showed me my test results and told me to follow up with my regular physician. Anna came back in and gave me all of my test results to give to my physician. I was on my way back home in less than 3 hours. I also made an appointment with my doctor that morning. The ER staff at RCH are great! 5 Stars!
I called to find out how my friend was doing & was transferred from one person to another. I never got to speak to my friend & I was left on hold with their music until I hung up. It was very unprofessional.
The individual that answers the phone by the name of Frances is beyond unprofessional, rude and insensitive to potential patients. We were just trying to make an inquiry as to when one would be able to have a skin graft done on their hand, seeing as orthopedic surgeons are not always on staff. I will never even attempt to step foot inside this hospital if that is the welcoming I would be greeted with.
What a terrible place to trust your life with. The nurses are nice enough, but not enough time to spend with each patient to make them comfortable. I've been here for 3 days with a family member an d I wouldn't bring an animal here. The other posts are correct about the cold, old food. Filthy floors. One lady came by with a "damp mop pad with only water from a bucketcold water, no cleaner. The floor is disgustingly dirty and there are little blue caps all over the floor because they never pick up those items they drop. Tonight I asked for a light blanket at 7 pm and the aid said they didn't have any but would bring one later. It is now 2 am. No blanket. The reason I stayed the past two days and nights is so that when my family member needs something, I can do it now instead of in the next life. While I was waiting a cockroach ran across the floor..and you know if there is one, it's not alone. Oh, did I mention that they do not offer towels, face cloths or newly made beds? There are just too many other things to mention here and it's only a 3 day stay. Shameful. Anything you receive here has to be asked for..to say there is no customer service is a huge understatement. Owners, please do me the favor of not answering my review with one of your robot responses that "someone" decides might fit the review. Don't appear that you are sorry in anyway or there wouldn't be so many pitiful reviews..something would be done to start seeing some rave reviews. You are running a pathetic hospital folks.
The Food staff all need to be fired. They're trying to kill us patients with the service violations such as cold and old meat sauce on cold and old pasta bottled water that tatse like dirt and an ice dispenser with none filtered water. I came to get well and I'm not getting any good healthy food to eat. The lettuce was brown. Yuck!!
Get a primary care doctor and get referrals to a specialist, The people here are nice and quick but not thorough, they tend to rush you out and not take care of business. But if you have the flu or a cold then they can take good care of you, they claim to not have the equipment to take care of complex situations but on their website they brag about state of the art services i'm confused.
I have had multiple surgeries and test done at the hospital. The care has always been outstanding. The problem always is in the communication. I just left my THIRD message for the financial department. I need to confirm my insurance coverage and my share of cost. They never return calls. This is not one one time problem. I have had this same similar problem over my last three years. Very frustrating!
The L&D nurses and staff are way above 5 stars! Shout out to Tami and Cindy exceptional nursing! The nutritional support gave us a congratulatory dinner for just the two of us for our new arrival. Food is great!
I will expand on this once my mother is transferred to another hospital for fear of how they will treat her. She is here with me now and the level of incompetence of the Drs is astounding. She transferred in from another hospital for cardiac issues and after the first 24 hours the care is absurd. The first day we were happy noe I just want her out if here. I will be following up with the medical board after she is on the mend.
I just want to thank the staff at RCH enormously for all the work they did after my car accident on April 3. Too bad I didn't keep my Health Net benefits, and went over to Kaiser. Then I could have had you people take care of everything, instead of Kaiser. That was a big mistake. I plan of fixing that mistake come medical election time in November 2017.
Not only did Kaiser Misdiagnose that I had cancer, The lower level doctors couldn't do anything to overrule the higher level doctor that prognoses "(because he had seen stage 4 cancer before)" Anyway the Pet Scan results came in last week, and I didn't have cancer, at least not yet.
The only suggestion I can offer you people, is to get a menu for your food, because I couldn't eat allot of the food you provided me with due to my accident. That I will give Kaiser credit for, they do have a good hospital menu. But that's not enough considering I was stuck at their LA Medical Center for 10 days on Vermont and Sunset in Downtown L.A.
I suffered a head injury after being bucked off my horse, went to the ER where I was a trauma patient and admitted to the ICU.
I received excellent care. The doctors were wonderful. I had expert care. The nurses were very attentive.
Our daughter experienced a critical neurological event and was in ICU at RCH for 5 days. The doctors and nurses provided excellent care and communicated well with us. The hospital facility was comfortable, clean, had a great cafeteria. Yes, the doctors and nurses were sometimes brusque as they enforced the rules for the safety and well-being of patients, and yes, there was tons of waiting, waiting, waiting to talk with doctors, but I think this was all reasonable for a large trauma center and a complicated medical situation. We are so grateful to have had access to this hospital, and are thankful for the excellent medical care our daughter received.
Our overall experience was very disappointing. My husband was admitted through the ER with abdominal pain. The ER staff was wonderful and we thought we made a good decision coming to RCH. We were wrong!! Once we were on the Third floor the patient care was horrible. The first night our nurse was excellent. After that every nurse we had was horrible. My husband had to be put on IV antibiotics on his third day the nurse never came in to give him is antibiotics so they had to double his dose to make up for the two they forgot because they never checked up on him. Then we he finished having two heavy doses his IV started to leak out fluid., After contacting the nurse station several times they finally found our nurse. She took the IV out said she would be back to start a new one. We never saw her for 3 hours so my husband who is suppose to be on IV had nothing for 3 hours keep in mind he cannot eat or drink anything. So, this set him back now we had to stay another day. In the meantime his room mate was suppose to be in restraints but the nurse never put his restraints back on and he ended up standing over my husband with feces all over. My husband jump out of his bed yanked the iv cord out of the wall and went to get the nurse. Now my husband who is trying to recover had to stand in the hallway not one nurse asked if he wanted a chair. He finally said he needed to sit down they brought him a chair and he sat in the hallway for over 1 1/2 until they could get the room cleaned and the patient restraint. All the nurse said to him was that the patient next to him was sick. Well guess what so was my husband but no one cared. I have worked in the medical field for over 20 years and I have never seen such poor patient care. My husband is also a Doctor and never could imagine that this is the type of care any agency would give there patients. We will be filling a written complaint regarding this situation and hopefully there will be some additional training on patient care.
