I recommend this campgroung you will have a "beyond camping" experience little camp shop and hot coffee is waiting for you in the morning!

Book in advance, popular for a reason. Stayed in cabin 10 for two nights. Wonderfully quiet at night. River on the site with camping spots along the river bank overlooking the river.
Camp store has anything you forgot to bring including locally sourced firewood, with a gas station/small store and cafe a mile up the road and several others options to eat out a few miles more. Perfect place to go and unwind for a weekend and close to Big Sur if that's your thing. Very peaceful during the day if you're hanging out in the campgrounds.
Multiple, modern and clean bathroom and showers. Good trash area for everything from recycling, regular trash to somewhere to dispose of camp fire embers easily and safely.
Pet friendly with small pet fee, we had our two dogs with us.response / report this review -

Couldn't find a better place for serene quality serenity. The staff is accommodating and awesome and friendly. Could think of a better place to hang out wish I had more time to do it. How's that

I like this place a lot except the water in the showers isn't hot enough for me. Otherwise, I found the staff to be super kind and helpful.

What a great campground! The ladies who run it are the friendly people and have tons of recommendations about the area. The store is well stocked and the firewood comes with starter and they will provide paper and matches if you need. We camped in our RV and the hook ups were in great shape. The Big Sur river runs through the campground and you can tube down it. Highly recommend!

The staff at the shop by the campsites is friendly. The bathrooms are clean, and didn't have any issues with mosquitoes while we were there. There is a river flowing by the campsites which just makes it for a lovely camping experience.

Stayed for 2 nights in Cabin 10; due to lack of occupants in cabins, they allowed us to choose which cabin we preferred. It's pricy, but definitely awesome. The campgrounds were recently refurbished, due to the flooding and rains they had. They gave us trails and beaches to go to, giving maps and details so that we could take our dog with us. Staff was very friendly. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.

Very nice and beautiful location which could create a good camping. Due to the last rain falls very muddy and partially destroyed. In comparison to heaps of other campgrounds in the US quite expensive with 65$ per night. The bathrooms are not adequate for that. E.g. There are no sinks for doing the dishes

My son and I took a spontaneous road trip from Washington to San Diego, camping the entire way. We stayed at several state campgrounds that were beautiful and well maintained. Our plan was to go down Hiway 1 most of our trip, but google didn't tell us the road had washed out. Riverside was the last campground before the washout and it was getting late, our options were to either double back and spend several more hours on the road or stay at one of the couple private campgrounds near the washout. The short drive down from the hiway was beautiful. We were able to get a nice quiet site by the river. The store was small but well thought out as to what campers may need without huge markups as many campgrounds do for the convenience. The laundry, shower and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly with an "Everyone is family" attitude. We were only able to stay 1 night, but we agreed that this will be a place we will make a destination on future trips. It would have been so easy to miss or pass this wonderful place with warm and welcoming staff,,,, I am so glad Google messed up!

Had a site that backed on to a beautiful river/ stream and was at the end of a little road.
Neighbours were all nice and quiet (I was definitely the loudest and the only one playing music)
site had a nice fire pit and a tap near by
Washrooms were decent and the store had wifi that sometimes reached the camp site.
The camp host (whose name I am sorry that I forget) went the extra mile to provide me with quality service and I know she did so for some other campers that were in the area same time as me (ex. allowed extra people on a site)
I highly recommend this spot and hope you get to spend more time there than I did.response / report this review -

Went camping with my boyfriend and his family here and my experience at the Riverside Campgrounds was very pleasant. The bathrooms were close by and well-kept, which is definitely a plus! The office staff were very friendly. There was access to water near each of the campsites, so, very convenient when it came to washing dishes. There's also a camp store, where they sell firewood and other things for a reasonable price. Pffeifer Beach is maybe 10 minutes or less away from the campsite, and there are restaurants around as well. Easy-camping! Did I mention no mosquitoes and a lovely river stream where people could swim in? Overall, very nice campgrounds with lots of things nearby to see.
