The Monterey Bay Aquarium puts nearly every other aquarium you'll go to to shame. This is incredible area that has natural and captive sea life. If you go outside onto the observation deck you can see all the natural wild sea life that lives in Monterey Bay.

Standing out there we saw dolphins, sea otters, seals, Pelicans, and many other wild birds. It is really a remarkable place.

The inside of the aquarium is very amazing but do not expect to see a large shark tank. I do not believe they had any sharks over 4 feet long, and most of those were the leopard sharks. The large aquarium is something to behold as it is so large it's hard to really grasp its size.

If you are in the Monterey Bay Area or even the San Francisco Bay Area, it is really worth the trip to see this Aquarium.

This place is a once in a lifetime must do. The price to get in is high but WELL worth it. Even on a busy summer weekend it is simply an amazing place. Great for all ages! Each exhibit has its own feel and i just wanted to stand and look at them for hours. Who knew that watching fish could be so relaxing!?!

Great place to go with the family and kids. The price is very reasonable when you compare this to other nearby aquariums.

Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Many exhibits and interesting things to do.

They even have an area for little ones to splash and play and run around.

Parking (fee) can be found close by or it maybe a small walk if the closer area is full.

This is the aquarium that was used for inspiration for Finding Dory but no Sigourney Weaver voice. The kids had a ball here. We watched them feed the otters, saw the scuba divers scrubbing the tank and doing fish feeding and explored for hours.

The price to get in at $50 each may give you a bit of sticker shock, but as you will see as you go through, maintaining something of this magnitude is incredibly expensive but well worth the price of admission. The facility is 322,000 square feet, has 35,000 animals and over 550 species.

Their various tanks hold 2,300,000 gallons of water that are pumped in direct from the ocean through 2 enormous tubes to ensure that the fish are able to get all the nutrients they would normally get naturally from the water and they have to employ over 500 people plus an army of 1,200 active volunteers to keep it all going.

This place must be a monster to manage but still manages to maintain its magnificence.

After we watched the feeding show, they invited anyone who wanted to see up on the roof from where the diver enters the tank. They got to see the diver climb out, and he came over and talked to them and even let them in the gate for pictures and to push the button which turned the tank agitator back on.

We really appreciated all the conservation theme they followed throughout the exhibits and gave us the chance to talk about why it is so important.

Really, this is a special place. Plus, the food at the cafeteria is actually pretty good! The experiences kids had here will be remembered for a life time!

This place is simply magical and inspiring - easily the best aquarium I've ever been to. The exhibits are well crafted, engaging and superbly explained. The fish and other sea creatures they have are magnificent. The exhibits in the "open sea" section are particularly mesmerizing. Make sure to attend the feeding in both the open sea and the kelp forest aquariums, which have set times every day. Both were incredible and unforgettable, especially the former. I love how the whole Aquarium also opens onto the Monterey Bay. On one terrace, they have various telescopes trained on the wildlife that's out in the Bay and someone on hand to give explanations. In fact, there are volunteers throughout the Aquarium ready to tell you cool stories and enchant the kids. The theater also hosts great and engaging presentations regularly. And the cafe is brilliant. Basically, this place is must-visit and totally world class. It is inspiring and carrying a vital mission of raising awareness of the need to care for our oceans.

Located perfectly atop the crashing waves of the Pacific. We were very entertained for about two hours between fish feedings and touching tide pool.
Best part ware the sardines swimming in a schools in several locations, first time seeing that! Jellyfish and kelp were gorgeous.
Being from east coast, we are very familiar with Baltimore Aquarium and Atlanta Aquarium. Monterey is considerably smaller, so not sure high price justifies exhibits and scope of Aquarium. Great location to walk around cannery to grab lunch and go back for a second round. our children were very excited to see and learn about marine life.

Likely the best aquarium you will ever visit. My kids love it and even on a busy day you can find a quiet corner to relax in. I never feel rushed to see everything when I'm here and I leave a little more centered.

Admission is expensive, but it helps knowing you are paying for so much research and conservation. Parking in the nearby areas is reasonable.

There are great facilities for kids and infants: nursing rooms, changing rooms, even infant chairs in the men's stalls. It is also very clean.

Food is good, but the cafe menu is limited. A family of 4 lunch is about $60. Coffee drinks are reasonable and good.

Very educational, will teach everyone young and old the wonders of the ocean. The touch tanks got both children and adults (but mostly children) touching ocean life learning what aspects of the creature appearance helps them survive. We even got to feed a barnical plankton, and watch it slowly eat it. Some animals you wouldn't normally see in the wild were happily swimming around. For example an octopus wasn't scared of us and was happily swimming around not camouflaging too much. Overall it was a joy to be there and I hope to come back one day to teach my kids about ocean life there.

Wonderful displays and interactive teaching moments. Excellent positioning of stewardship messages throughout. Thought-provoking art exhibit. Amazing jellyfish area. Commendable customer service.

A bit put off by the admission fee and the odd building layout. You can't get to a particular area of the first floor without going to the second floor, going across the building and coming back down.

A great place to visit as an adult or child. They do not have their own parking lot/structure but the nearby ramps are reasonable. We paid $15 for the whole day on a Saturday. It's near many other shops and walking paths so plenty to do after. Typically pretty crowded so getting their right when it opened helped.

The template for all other Aquariums.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is incredible. You simply won't find a better looking and functional aquarium. Absolutely nothing was broken or damaged. The exhibits are incredible and you will spend an entire day here taking pictures. If you attempt to read everything then you may need to return tomorrow. The view is gorgeous and worthy of many pictures and videos.

The food is also amazing here. Everything looks so delicious, but I had to get the Sourdough bread bowl filled with clam chowder.

I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed with your visit. Remember hotels may have a discount code, so get your tickets from the hotel and save money.

There are crowds here and that means the tall people and the early people will have the best pictures. Bring a selfie stick and extra batteries.

I love going here. This place inspired the marine life institute in the Disney film Finding Dory! It's so clean and right on Cannery Row in Monterey! If you love animals this place will inspire to save sea life and protect the Monterey Bay! I love the volunteers who greet the guest who came in !

I need to go back immediately. This last was it was my first visit and it was amazing. I want to take all of my friends and would love to go every weekend. Now if we just talk about the aquarium there's a ton to do and you can spend multiple hours there. The aquarium is on this little Street which I did not get to explore on my last visit. Make sure you spend at least a day here, I would love to spend a weekend.

By far the most amazing aquarium I've ever been to. Each exhibit is so well designed to allow optimal viewing while also faithfully recreating diverse sea habitats. Seeing wild animals including whales from the beautiful observation deck was another highlight. The staff was also incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was truly a highlight of our trip and a can't-miss for anyone exploring the coast.
