This is a delightful concert venue. The music was excellent, the bartenders delightful, the drinks menu diverse and affordable, and I got to see two splendid new indie bands and buy their albums before the main headliner performed. I even got a signed set list and to shake hands with all the performers. It was such a lovely time, I can't recall a nicer outing. The crowd had such energy and everyone was so friendly. Only Pittsburgh could keep an old vaudeville house going as a home for music and people who love it.
I’ve been to a lot of shows here and love the building but sometimes the sound is terrible. Not sure if the house ever does it, but it’s a bummer to brave the awful Carson streets just to hear only half the band. Great venue though!
Nice place. Nice staff. Good shows by good performers. I just saw Wishbone Ash perform there on Saturday night. Wonderful experience just as last year was.
I went to Rex Theater to see Twiddle in September 30,2017. It's a rather small place but it was fantastic! The crowd was amazing and so into the band and everyone had such a great time. It was an amazing and such a fun night and Twiddle was phenomenal!
One of the best venues in town. Great acts, great staff and always a ton of fun. Go see live music here. You'll have a great time.
I attend concerts at the Rex fairly frequently. The staff is the friendliest and most welcoming of any venue in Pittsburgh, they treat us music fans like family. This venue may be on the smaller end, but they still book amazing, high-quality bands. Drinks are reasonably priced (no $14 arena beers here) and there is always ice cold water available for free in easy-to-access coolers (no $7 bottled waters either)
Love this place!
Love the rex for 21 and over shows. There's something free going on here every month, sometimes more often, which is awesome. Shows that are all ages have kind of a weird vibe because a metal barrier bisects what is already a very small venue.
Beer is pricey and cash only so i recommend drinking elsewhere before or on set break. The location is right in the middle of the south side bars so parking is a struggle but there's a lot to do nearby.
Cool small space for shows. Temporary seating is a bit cramped when available. Nice sound quality and great entertainment.
Been coming to this venue for years and they are always great hosts when we do our show there every year. One of my favorite venues in Pittsburgh
Good place for concerts. Good sound & nice size stage for bands. So far staff & security have been cool.
Only drawback, which establishment can't control, is occasional lack of close street parking. To make matters worse the parking authority will be requiring you to pay the parking meters after 6pm beginning sometime in Spring of 2017. Check meter parking machines in area for date. Parking was free after 6pm which was great when going to shows that start about 7pm on South Side.
I loved this venue because it was so personal and intimate. The sound was incredible. The stage was a good size. Nice bar. Crowd was great.
The rex was so amazing! All the staff were so kind and considerate, everyone was very nice. It was very clean! All the lights shiny and there was no dust anywhere that I could see !! They didn't rush us out, the employees were knowledgeable about the policies of the venue and were always happy to help. The sound system was fantastic too! I had such a great experience! Best venue I have been to!
