The beer is pretty good (never had a bad one) but the biggest draw is still the place. Amazing with the brewery on the alter. Definitely worth the stop if you're visiting Pittsburgh.

Great service! Love the atmosphere. Beer is getting better than a year ago. Favorite beer recently is their Skellington. Fun place to take friends who are visiting from out of town.

Beer was average, but there was an awesome cask they had that was far and away the best beer I've had recently.
Food was decent, but the service was very slow. This place is big and it's busy but they really aren't providing adequate service for the amount of business they have.response / report this review -

Good beer, great food, and even better atmosphere! Every single time I have guests in from out of town, we go to Church Brew Works. The building and atmosphere are unlike any place I've ever been, and the beer and food are great, too! If you order a flight of beer, you get A LOT OF BEER. I've been pleased with any food item I've ordered--they have a wide menu selection. The only thing to know is that they serve their beer at room temperature, so don't expect a crispy, cool glass. Service is generally good.

Went here with my boyfriend, tried four different beers between us. The Oktoberfest was great! Food is $12-$18 per entree but is worth it. Got the chicken and brie sandwich with a huge pile of fries! They always have interesting stuff on the menu - once they had a fried rattlesnake appetizer! Great atmosphere for families, friends, or dates, whether you drink or not.

Atmosphere was cool. Always wanted to drink in church. The stained glass was impressive. The beer was slightly too warm and largely forgetable. Bartenders were just polite enough to not be rude but definitely didn't want to be bothered. Lots of potential and worth a visit, but has a lot to be desired in terms of food, beer and customer service

We had my stepson's rehearsal dinner here. They went above and beyond to make it great. Patty took care of everything and was absolutely amazing. The food was perfectly prepared and the staff very attentive. Truly enjoyed it and thanks to Patty, no stress.

Great food. Amazing service and the beers were fantastic. The transformation from church to brewery is brilliant and done respectful of its history. We traveled from California to Pittsburgh last August and this place was high on our to-do list. Glad we went.

The only reason for 3 stars instead of 5 was because the service was less than okay. They really should make sure their wait staff knows when their happy hour ends. And they should make sure a waiter comes to your table sooner than 10 minutes after you've been seated. But the food was really really good.

We love Church Brew works. It is the first place we go when we come to the wonderful city of Pittsburgh. The Buffalo Chicken Porogee Saute is the Best.

The atmosphere of this brewery is so unique. They did an amazing job keeping the church details while weaving in a brewery. The beer is decent and the food selection is great. Definitely worth a stop!

This is truly a unique place to have a craft beer. Seeing the huge pots of beer shadowed by ornate stained glass gives you the bittersweet feeling knowing that the fall of religion has claimed another once-great place of worship while appreciating the fact that such a place can still be used and enjoyed. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable for the beer; I didn't try any food during this visit.

Atmosphere is great. Food was good with decent portions. We ordered off of the dinner menu. I had the pierogi saute and my wife had the seven onion soup. Wait staff was attentive during our visit. Beers were average. We will return if in the area again.

Our food was excellent, the wait staff attentive, and the atmosphere is great. Not too loud, I thought there would be more echo for a church. I just wasn't sold on the beers, they all seemed amateurish. Still, totally worth checking out.
