Stayed from Dec 7-9, 2017, but should have stayed at our go to hotel, the Chicago Athletic Association. Aesthetically, Blackstone is a beautiful hotel, but pretty much a mute point after multiple interactions with an indifferent and arrogant staff. Seemed to have trouble with basic tasks, and not one apology issued for any of their behavior or mistakes. Multiple members of the staff we dealt with seemed content to try and make the us feel like it was fault for their mistakes. Stay began with us being checked into a room that wasn't the lake view we reserved. After going back to the front desk to get moved into the right room, I was told they may not have any available. Once I let them know that they would have to figure it out, the lake view room we originally ordered magically appeared to be available. After 11 o'clock that night we received a visit to our room from the front desk staff to inform us that our card had been declined. After an admittedly grumpy trip down to the lobby to get it straightened out, I found out that the incompetent individual that checked us in hadn't even processed my card correctly and it wasn't declined, they just didn't have it on file, which is vastly different, and again no apology. Avoid this place as there seems to be a culture problem with the front of house staff and stay at the Chicago Athletic Association which is similar in price and light-years ahead in customer service, amenities and culture.

The lobby's decor was amazing and the room had the best ambiance I've ever experienced in an hotel. Extremely convenient location, short walking distance to trains and buses. I will definitely stay here again!

A really sleek and nice venue. I went to a wedding here and the interior is gorgeous. I mean, no extra decoration needed kind of gorgeous. The ballroom is well lit and can comfortably fit about 150 (in terms of chairs, tables, and room for dancing). Anything beyond that is going to be a squeeze.

I'm going to rate now.. I stayed 2013 for two nights .. Its extremely beautiful luxury hotel ..The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Within walking distance of most everything.. The bed was very comfortable. Awesome place . A good experience.. The rooms cost me about 300 dollars a night . I promise you will love it ..

Beautiful, recently updated Marriott hotel. Concierge service, art hall, ballroom, tapas fine dining and everything you'd expect from an upscale hotel. Wi-Fi is $15-18 a night if you are not a Gold member, and other services are priced similarly. Only complaint is the fashionable but not so functional sliding bathroom door that allows you to share everything. A better sealing door or higher volume fan would have been nice.

Renovated and now part of Marriott. On Michigan Ave. Outdoor dinning. Great tapas restaurant Mercat off nice lobby area with seating facing Michigan Ave from second level. Starbucks on lower level accessed by elevators and stairs. Classic old Chicago hotel back in action. Nice walk to Soldiers Field and museums.

Stayed for Valentines Day weekend. This hotel is just fantastic. Great location on Michigan Ave, staff are warm, friendly and incredibly helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are very large. Great views. Hotel in the restaurant has great food and a lovely staff. Beautiful lobby, ballroom, huge fitness center and an art gallery. They allow and are very accommodating of dogs.

The best thing about the Blackstone is the staff. They are friendly and extremely accommodating in every department. I arrived as an Irma refuge, after a week of no ac in my Florida home. The Blackstone staff enfolded me in gracious care, even though my appearance and dress were no doubt not the usual they serve every day. They get 5 stars plus. The hotel itself is fine for the older reno it is. The restaurant is superb. The fitness center is well-appointed and has a stunning view. The beds are decent although I'm not a fan of feather pillows. But the staff will fix any small defect. Well, almostthe room lighting is abysmal: badly placed, too dim. The sliding glass bathroom door not only offers no privacy but makes nighttime usage invasive to fellow roommates. And if you're unlucky enough to be a smoker, you're sent out on the street like trash. Oh, and the toilet paper does not say "luxury" but "bus station."

Best stay I've had since the Ritz in Central Park.
I think that it has one of the best locations in Chicago! It's 30 min walk to Michigan Ave and shopping. It's 20-25 min walk to the Museum of Science. It's a 20 min walk to the Theater where Hamilton is playing. And there are lots of 4-5 star restaurants nearby.
The rooms have marble floors and plumbing with deep marble basins and very modern showers. The tub is not as deep as the Ritz's but it's still fine for soaking in.
Make sure you get a lake view room. The hotel is across from Grant Park (where Obama gave his first acceptance speech as President), and you can see out into Lake Michigan and the Ferris Wheel at the pier.
The lobby is gorgeous. This hotel may not be as tony as the Ritz but it's not too far off and it's half the price.response / report this review -

I had an amazing week long stay while I was visiting friends in Chicago. Clean room with a modern design and a view of the the lake. Played pool in the lobby and enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Hit the convenient Starbucks on the way out before exploring downtown.

We stayed there overnight for one night in one of the newly renovated rooms. The staff from the greeters on to the desk agents were friendly and professional. This hotel has a ton of history and wasn't afraid of it. Beautiful, boutique and modern, it was a good place to stay.

Love this hotel. It's an intimate and unique place. Great rooms and beds. Great Staff. Vino and Abraham from the Hubbard Lounge is great as are the other staffers. With the remodel it's definitely keeping its cool and upscale feel.

First, hotel staff were top notch. Took the family for a weekend of museums and they made it a memorable trip. Changing rooms for a better view was a breeze, good food (Blackstone burger was our favorite), great size room and fulfilling our multiple requests for the kids - awesome. The concierge lounge was large and plenty of seating with a good breakfast. Biggest drawback: bathroom sliding door provided minimal privacy and was unlockable.

The location is perfect right on Michigan ave. where nothing is too far away. The rooms are spacious with very modern (but homey) decor. The staff is amazing and very accommodating, especially at the front desk and the bell hops. I wasn't the biggest fan of the sliding door to the bathroom instead of a hinged door, but others may not mind. The sliding door does permit a small but visible gap, this allows the steam to escape for lack of a venting fan. Though my room was a good size with two big windows there was no sheer curtain on those windows to permit natural light in while still feeling comfortably out of sight to the outside world. I only noticed the lack of sheer curtain because I also felt the room could have used a bit more over head lighting rather than the few lamps they had with what I assumed to be low lumen light bulbs. I also found the TV to be tiny compared to the size of the room, the TV was about 19inches. My last minor annoyance was the cost of a bottle of water from the lobby considering the cost of the hotel, $4 for a plain bottle of water is absurd. They should consider giving guests at least one or two complimentary bottles of water if they are going to punish us for buying from the lobby. Aesthetically the inside and outside of the building are a great balance between an Old Chicago regal hotel and more modern accommodations. With the convenience of location, size of rooms, awesome walkin shower, friendly staff and comfortable beds, I could very easily see this being a location that people want to stay at time and time again.
