Very pretty place to come. The hike along the shore gave great views of the ocean. Not too strenuous though there was a fair bit of climbing. Try the North Shore hike. It is long. If you want to shorten it, walk to the point and then return. Probably took a little over an hour but one does tend to stop a lot to take pictures.

went here with my in-laws. This is a nice place to spend a day with kids as well as older people. There are lots of small trails and many parking lots. Best part is the trails are not too long, which is a plus point when you are with older people. There is a nice picnic area with benches, restrooms and drinking water. Views are extra ordinary. We were able to spot some birds, but could not recognize.

I Went Here In October Of 2017. And I Enjoyed Myself, The View Is Breathtakingly Beautiful, We Mountain Climbed, And Took Many Pictures. The Seals Are Beautiful, And Their Surroundings. The Rocks Are Beautiful. And The People Were Friendly As Well. Me, And My Family Will Most Definitely Be Going Back Again. They Have Picnic Areas, And Very Good Restrooms. ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful natural treasure you can't miss visiting Carmel. Meandering through woods, you would suddenly be presented with stunning ocean view in front of you, with sea birds and sea lions calling from afar. Some trails are a bit challenging. Need a good pair of shoes to comfortably roaming from one scenic spots to another. Make sure to get down to the Whale's Cove and check out the whale museum. Get there early. Very early, as this is a very popular spot.

Spend multiple days here. It's too beautiful to describe. You'll see seals, otters, possibly whales and tons of cool plants. Make sure you learn how to identify poisonous plants before you go. I had a microbiologist and a seasoned hiker with me to keep me out of trouble. I can easily see how someone could make a mistake. Also, wear the right shoes, please. Don't make my stupid mistake.

Really great park. The hiking is not difficult. If you're up for the walk, you can save the parking fee and just walk in from the road.
There are tidal pools on the south end of the park. Can see some crabs and anemones.

I've visited this place twice in the last year and I really love it!
Several trails to choose from. I found the option to park my car outside the state park in case it's full (it does means you'll need to walk more than the regular). I picked two trails and even with very cloudy weather I enjoyed the views and even found a spot with 'lone cypress' very similar to the popular one from 17 mile drive.

Fantastic park! Costs $10 per car but I think it's free if you park on the street and walk in. We took the loop walk and had a wonderful time. Took a few hours to complete but it was worth it. Beautiful ocean views. We also got to see whales, sea lions, rabbits, birds, lizards and other wildlife. So much fun!

Beautiful hikes, China cove is super gorgeous! The best part of the state reserve is that it's accessible to all level hikers. You can hike everything if you want a longer hike, or drive to shorter sections and hike directly to what you want. Great bang for your buck in terms of effort for many beautiful views. They even have some areas accessible to all terrain strollers!

5 star relaxed park, if busy then 2-3 stars for parking. Hikes are pretty easy to medium. Walk through trees and out to ocean views. Nicely maintained park. Excellent drainage on most paths. Nice restrooms, expect a line at busy times. Parking is an issue on busy weekends. Good outing, relaxing. Bring a camera.

Beautiful walk with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The vastness of the ocean and it's majestic expanse can be felt right through the entire stretchvery interesting and beautiful ocean creaturestry going on the rocks and observing the marine lifeshoes recommended. Unforgettable experience overall :)

I remembered it as a sunny day, but somehow near the ocean it was kinda cloudy. I didn't realize the "17 mile drive" is actually a 17-mile-long road near the coastline until I reached there. At the entrance I got a map with descriptions for 20+ tourist spots. I stopped randomly as I spotted parking spaces. It was quite windy, and it was so beautiful. Waves and waves reached the rocks, and seagulls hovering over my head. Very peaceful.
Then we drove to Carmel-by-the-Sea, where we window shopped lots of boutique shops. Lush was the only chain store I knew over there, and it was crowded. The ocean, the sand beach, the town.. So enchanting, so mesmerizing.response / report this review -

What a beautiful park with many vista points, trees, and beaches. This family friendly park is perfect to pack in a lunch for a day hike. You can see sea lions and if you keep an eye out you may see a whale. They even have a couple of building to learn more about the history behind Whalers Cove.

Easy hike with several trails to choose from. Hear the calls of marina seals, and at some section you can see the mamas and their pups. The museum is small, donation only. Informative and quite interesting. Great place for a family outing.

This place was absolutely stunning Amazing vistas of the shoreline and wildlife Saw harbor seals dining and swimming with their pups from a safe distance high above so they aren't disturbed. Lots to see, clean, informational plaques Definitely a worthwhile stop for anyone into nature
