Tavern is nice. Very clean and the staff is prompt and attentive. Special shout-out to Chili the hostest and her professionalism. And the bartenders for being on their game. Food was great and specials were awesome.

Another restaurant that was on our "if you're in the area, you absolutely have to go here" list. If you want an Edgar Allen Poe-themed cheeseburger, well, I don't imagine there's a better place to go anywhere in the world than here. With menu items named after the Poe's short stories, and an interior decor that will not allow you to forget the name of the restaurant, it was a very cool scene. There is a ton of outdoor seating, but since it was raining, we sat indoors. I was a big fan of the Amontillado burger, named after Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado".

If you're in the mood for a burger and a drink, and/or you want a place that's minutes from the beach, and/or you're just a fan of ol' Edgar, then you've found your spot.

The burgers at Poe's are legendary! If you like seafood you must get the one with the crab cake on top. Wife's mixed drink was strong. Too many craft beers to choose from. The best part was it was a little on the cool side when we went so no one wanted to sit outside. Loud and crowded inside but quiet out. PERFECT!

The food was very good. The menu is a little limited, but all three of our means and the two appetizers we're really good. Very charming in a beautiful area. Seating was tight. The bathrooms were tiny. The service was top notch. Everybody was friendly and it server was perfect.

Great burgers and fries. Off the beaten path so it was very nice that it was not crowded. It stayed very steady but you did not have to wait long. Sitting outside was nice and it was very dog friendly. We will go back when we are in the area.

Great atmosphere and good food. The wait is long but that is to be expected of a popular restaurant. Only issue with the wait is that the employees have this "well you're on your own" attitude about the line you're in as if you are responsible for finding a table. Service is slow as in the case of our most recent visit when we had to hunt our waitress down by the bar because she just never returned to us for refills or anything really. When she was at our table which was a total of two visits (and a 1/2 visit to drop off the check) she was rude. Someone else brought our food out and we again had to hunt someone down to fix what was wrong with one of the orders.

Service is not high on the list of priorities for this establishment. A line to get in, slow service and even mistakes with an order are acceptable as long as your employees aren't rude on top of it.

Heard great things about this place. Went today to see what all the fuss was about and I can say it lives up to the hype. Burgers and Taco were fantastic. Service was awesome. Our waiter was very attentive and patient with the little ones. Family of 6 (2 Adults 4 kids). We'll certainly be back

We recently ate at Poe's based on a friend's recommendation and loved it! We were a table for 9 plus a one year old. The service was awesome, the food was great and I would definitely return. The staff was accommodating to our large group and child. We had reservations so the wait wasn't long at all despite how crowded the restaurant was. We had a great view of the water and the atmosphere was fun and inviting.

Enjoyed our lunch! Place was packed on Saturday at 2:30. Although it was hot, we snagged a table outside. Was fun watching people up and down the main road while our server Mz Farrell took care of us.
In a nutshell, its a tad pricey but we felt the quality of the food and service was good. Known for their burgers, I thought the fish taco was good as well.
They have some local brews that were tasty! Hey, you are by the beach! Enjoy

Unique atmosphere. Generally the bathrooms have Poe's work on audio :), but it didn't this trip. We love this place. Sullivan's island is our favorite Charleston beach, so we always walk over to Poe's afterwards. It's never a disappointment. Great burgers. Tacos are great too, but we typically order the burgers. We'll be back every trip!

I appreciate the style and uniqueness of the area, coming from Hawaii there are tons of beach side burger joints that has that relaxing atmosphere. However, there was a terribly long wait before a server even addressed us to have us seated. We had an 1+hr wait when a table was clearly open for us to be seated at. Burgers were ok. Fries were a joke; resembled greasy wood shavings instead of actual FRIES. Unfortunately after a 3hr travel time to get there and then over a 1hr wait to get seated, the food quality and service was not worth the wait.

This is by far the best burger place I've ever been to, my wife and I came here with some friends, and their wait staff are phenomenal, I have to mention Eric by name because he was FREAKING AWESOME!! He recommended we try a sleeper burger, wow.we are seriously blown away. Every time we come to Charleston we WILL come here. The food is totally worth the wait, the atmosphere is awesome, very casual but fun!

Lunch is the best time to come because most people come directly after the sunset which increases the wait time!

Seriously though, this place is phenomenal, I highly highly recommend it!

The setting was dark and covered in Poe memorabilia, which was cool to see. There was a real wood fireplace going, adding to the mood. The staff was fairly friendly and attentive. Our burgers were simple but cooked well! The goat cheese was a great touch. For fry lovers: my girlfriend raved about their crispy fries.

I don't get the appeal of the place. But I'm clearly in the minority given the half block of people waiting for a table. I mean it was good, don't get me wrong, butnothing extraordinary. I think this is a hip place to go that is thriving on that reputation. Three stars seems appropriate. It's a cool space, if a little crowded and I wouldn't mind going back, but I won't be going out of my way to do so.
