Such a beautiful home accompanied by an informative and educational tour. I simply love how each tour guide is able to present the historical narrative of the home in their own style. Our tour guide, Daniel, did a wonderful job. Understanding the history of the home in contextualization with Savannah during the early 19th century is very important with this house, and Daniel provided thorough detail not only of the home, but more importantly of the slaves who worked there and whose story had been lost for much of history. When visiting a historic home in the south, it is important to understand the lives of ALL who worked and lived there, and Daniel did a great job of conveying that history. I would 100% recommend this house to anyone touring Savannah!

I'm going to rant!!!!
I have toured dozens of historical homes all around the country and I've never walked out MAD.
Daniel, the tour guide, decided to indoctrinate us with an hour of his political views and opinions on slavery, vilifying the owners of this historic home AND current political topics he does not agree with. I don't care about Daniels personal views on anything.
I learned almost nothing about the owners, the architect and the history of the house itself. We never heard where they came from and how old they were, about their children, what became of them. Nothing!
I welcome facts on the hardship of the slaves and feel great compassion for them but I don't need/want to have ALL Upper Class historical figures ignored, vilified or removed to be PC.
To finalize the tour from hell, when guests were asked if they had questions he rudely responded with a condescending attitude making me not want to ask or know anything more. We waisted $45. It was so much more than disappointing. It was infuriating!!!response / report this review -

My wife and I enjoyed our tour guide Jason and loved every minute of walking throughout the grounds. Truly another beautiful home within the city.

The tour guide Linda was the grumpiest lady in the south. We were afraid to ask questions. She was like an old school teacher ready to whack you with her ruler !! Otherwise the tour of the home was neat learning about the history.

Just gorgeous! The house is beautifully preserved and was impressive even when it was newly built: intricate plasterwork, trompe l'oeil on virtually every surface, curved walls and doors throughout the house. The guided tour was lovely. We went to the last tour of the day and we mostly had the house to ourselves. I was pleased that attention was paid to the enslaved occupants of the house as much as possible; the tour guide took care to use their names when they were known, and there is a small exhibit in the old slave quarters/carriage house about African Americans in Savannah.

The property is very well preserved and architecturally significant. Our tour guide was great, young lady with great comic timing as well as informative, and informal. And of course, the history of people who inhabited the place is the reason it matters at all.

This was a great experience it showed of genuine period pieces and the ingenious architecture of the time! Our tour guide Linda "the boss" was one of the best tour guides I ever had. This stoic geriatric fire cracker gave us an entertaining and informative experience. if you do go request her as your guide.
