For the most part I like rustic camping, tent on dirt no electric. What I don't like is the bathroom situation while rustic camping. Otter Lake is perfect because I can have a rustic camp site right next to the woods and a lake but their bathrooms are superb. Great shower and restroom facilities. It pretty average compared to most other campgrounds you'll visit in the U.P. besides how great the bathroom facilities are.
One of the best campgrounds I have stayed at. Staff is very friendly. It has a lot of activities to do- tetherball, volleyball, boat rental. Also have laundry facilities and pretty nice bathrooms. They have firewood available to buy there as well as ice. Definitely plenty to do. About ten minutes from town. I would definitely stay again

- My site was a good size but a little tight getting out with 30 ft camper. Others were available.
-no partial refund for leaving early
Don't know about cancellation.
Would recommend.
Will visit again.
Dirt paths and mainly dirt campsites, if you are opposed to this you may not like the sites. However, campground is in a nice setting next to a small private lake. Navigating a 28ft camper around is tight but manageable. Staff are friendly. To me, this reminds me of how camping was in my childhood, over 20 years ago. Negatives: it would appear the camp owners/hosts let family and friends setup tents in "commons" areas such as near the beach and water areas. This gives a slightly non campground, unprofessional feeling to this place. However, we enjoyed our 5 day stay with my daughter, and found it to be a friendly, family oriented campground.
The first time we stayed here we arrived late and the tenter next to us was asleep and we couldn't get our slide out because they set up a little too close. The girl working the office bent over backwards and showed my husband the available spots. We found one with a lake view! Our kids loved going on the boats and playing in the water. We stay in this site every year. This year we reserved the site earlier than we usually do. Within ten minutes of being at the campground, our daughter caught a baby turtle. Even though it rained during our stay, we still enjoyed ourselves and had front row seats to a beautiful double rainbow!!
I would definitely recommend this place to everyone extremely clean bathrooms very courteous and friendly staff. Very close to a town, clean level sites. My family came here because we arived in town a day early and the place we originally reserved at had no sites available for that night and were rude so we came to otter lake campground and we were in aww and amazed decided to stay a whole week here. Everything was great and we will be back.
Great campground! My wife and I stayed for 4 nights over memorial day weekend 2017. The bathrooms and showers were great and very clean (and had actual hot water). It's a quick 10 minute drive to Munising and pictured rocks. If you're tenting like we did, I'd recommend requesting a spot on the overflow site. They are really private and still have electric hookups, and are near the lake.
Nice campground, they accommodated our overnight RV stay nicely. They had clean, and modern showers/bathrooms. I appreciated the cleanliness.
Early in the season. Everything was clean. Staff was nice. Good sites. Relatively quiet. Additional fun things like boats for rent, volleyball and gaga ball. Don't know what it would be like if the place is full, but we liked it.
