Was left in the waiting room for 45 minutes after my original appointment time. The receptionist told me the dr was finishing a procedure which is fine but if you’re doing something that takes so long then maybe think about that when scheduling an appointment. However the nurse was very nice and the facility itself was clean also the doctor was also incredibly helpful and kind. I would definitely go back
I have 5 children, 4 of which were delivered by mid wife in another state, while my last child was delivered here in NC with an ObGyn in Nov 2017.
When I first came to this office I asked for the major differences between an Ob experience and Midwife and the Dr snubbed midwives by saying sarcastically, "well for starters 8 years of additional training and education" Let me tell you, that additional training didn't equate to more in terms of patient experience.
However the staff at Bradford is very polite, the office is very clean and the waits were always short. There is a slightly cold feeling to interactions here though that I never experienced with my midwife. You would think after 9 months of coming to an office you'd have a solid rapport with the staff but it always felt like they just met me at every single appointment (expect for the Lab staff who is extremely wonderful, personable and remembered me every single time).
Rotating doctors doesn't allow anyone to really get to know you well either but by the end of my pregnancy I got smart by asking for specific doctors when scheduling my appointments (although that doesn't guarantee you will deliver with them)
Dr Sweeney, Dr Castellion, and Dr Parson were my favorites and I actually delivered with Dr Castellion.
My only real issue with this office is actually the day I went into labor. In my office visits the doctors kept telling me because it was my 5th baby and I have had quick deliveries they would be mindful of that and make sure to have me come in as soon as I felt I was in labor.
However the day I went into labor that is not what happened at all. I called to speak with the doctor and no one would let me speak to her. The answering service asked me a slew of questions (including what number baby it was for me), took my information, put me on hold, called the doctor, told her what I said and came back with her response. I asked if I could speak with the doctor directly or can she call me directly and the answer was no. Then they tried to deter me from going to the hospital as if I wasn't ready.
I called back and again the person on the phone tried to deter me from going to the hospital and wouldn't let me speak to a doctor directly but told me I could go in if I felt like it. (What?) That was never my experience with a mid wife. I always had my midwives cell phone number to call her directly or the answering service would alert her to call me directly.
The third time I called, again the person on the phone tried to deter me from going to the hospital but I told her it was too late Im already in the car on my way. When I arrived at the hospital I was 9.5 cm, they barely had time to transfer me from triage to delivery, didn't even have time for an IV or anything. Dr Castellion broke my water and I delivered my son less than 15 min later. She told me if I would have waited even 10 more minutes he would have been born in the car!!
They need to allow patients to speak with a doctor directly when they are in labor so nothing is lost in translation, and their call center staff certainly shouldn't tell a patient you can go to the hospital if you feel like it.
Last thing I didn't like is Dr Castellion didn't refer to me by name when I got to a point where the pain to push was too much, she told my husband "she has to push" instead of speaking to me directly. The nurses in the room were the ones who encouraged me directly to push past the pain. They were wonderful and should probably consider becoming midwives.
If I were to have another baby I would not pick an ob.
I did not feel comfortable with the doctors nor the staff. There was a coldness to the office that made me uncomfortable. I also found it troubling that I could not chose my own doctor. I had to rotate around. This place is too strange. I just cannot put my finger on it. I will not return to this facility.
Made an appointment with Dr. Salvemini for a second opinion. She is great! She actually sat down and talked to me. Made sure to get to know me and explain what was going on and what she thinks is the best game plan. I've been to two other OB/GYNs and they have never done this. They wrote prescriptions and sent me on my way, or told me something wasn't an issue. Dr. Salvemini actually explained how the issues will have an impact on me in the future. She is absolutely wonderful, and I will continue to make the 45 minute drive to see her. The ladies at the front desk are super sweet and seem to enjoy their job. Dr. Salvemini's nurse Kim was very nice as well. My only complaint is the ultrasound tech. She was far from pleasant. She seemed like she hated her job. I actually told her well aren't you pleasant. She didn't speak to me during the ultrasound, she has no social skills. Other than that, my first experience at Southeast OB/GYN was a good one.
I've been going here for 22 yrs now. 3 babies delivered. Always been satisfied.
Dr. Sal and her nurse Kim are AMAZING! My entire pre-natal experience was nothing less than amazing! They both were very caring throughout my pregnancy! There were some unforeseen circumstances that occurred during my labor and delivery but that had nothing to do with Dr. Sal or nurse Kim. I am glad I chose Southeast OB/GYN as my provider and I am more than in love with my new baby boy!
I had to take a long time today to calm myself down to even share my experience with this OBGYN. For starters, I've been a patient here for 8 years. They have one woman in particular at the front desk that is just over the top phenomenal. I can't get over how well she knows and cares for her people. It is amazing the work she does.
Now.
Moving on to my actual experience with my care provider During my first pregnancy, I really had no issues. Nothing to the negative aspect to bring to the table for true assistance, because I was healthy How did this change?
Beyond pregnancy care, I have been very dissatisfied with the care of my provider in this office. I've had some issues over the years that have, at least in my opinion, not been addressed to the fullest. My husband has made the comment that whenever Presbyterian was bought out by Novant, they no longer had the exclusivity to be selective with their clients. At this point they're attention to detail and actual person care has severally decline.
I write this because today, and for the first time in my life, I literally walked out of their office, and I don't ever plan to return after how I was treated.
A month ago in April, I had a rather urgent need to be seen by my physician. Upon calling, I made an appointment 3 weeks out, which was today. I had 2 separate appointments based off my needs and I came in 30 minutes early, along with my husband. As I said, I had some pretty large issues that needed addressed. My first appointment was on time. The technician was polite, caring. I exited back into the waiting room for my following appt. My appointment comes, goes. No one speaks to myself or my husband It's now 30 minutes after my 2nd appointment. Knowing my situation, my husband asks "how much longer?" About 15 minutes later I am called back by my nurse Donna. I really like her. No issues. I was there when she started work here and she's always been personable and kind. Once in the room, she asked her questions. I disrobe, etc. I can hear her walk out and speak to my Dr. He's literally 2 feet from my door By a few of Donna's questions I kind of get the idea that my appointment wasn't set for the reason I need it so I wanted to to ask her. My husband calls her in and we talk for a second, in which point she tells me my physician has just left to assist someone elsewhere. Mind you, he was just at the door.
By the end of our conversation, Donna tells me not only has he left, but he's put one other appointment ahead of mine due to the nature of the appointment.
Where does that leave me? I waited 3 weeks for an appointment They forgot about me, I had to remind them I was there. Then the Dr leaves and places someone's appointment in front of mine. All of this, dismissing that no one bothered to speak to me and just say "hey, let me fill you in to where we are.". Or "I apologise for the wait, we had a mix up." No one was willing to tell me that my Dr had forgot about me or that he had unfairly set me to the end of the line based on his interpretation of "my needs."
I've never been so upset in my entire adult life. I left crying. My husband agreed we are finished with Southeast OBGYN.
It's is in my opinion, unless you are currently expecting- your continued care needs will not be met urgently. At least this is my experience.
I hope someone reads this and makes a solid decision to find a provider that genuinely cares. I cannot say much for the other physicians in this office. And today when I left, I could see that it did genuinely bother Donna that I was leaving, and she wasn't happy about it. That will be my last visit to Southeast OBGYN and I will not recommend this office to anyone based on my providers care.
Dr.Sal is not the doctor to do a procedure she has no sympathy at all for pain, but other than that these doctors are good. I'm due next month for a cs and hope it turns out good with Dr. Salib.
Me and my husband were very excited with our first child. The front desk lady( an older lady is extremely kind and helpful) but the nurses who work here seem so miserable and aren't friendly at all. And let me just say we are a very sweer couple.
I have had 3 children w/this doctor's office and I have had nothing but friendly service from the time I walk until I leave. I've seen all the doctors and i feel very secure with all their decisions. The wonderful care goes from the receptionists all the way up to the doctors and every one in between. I especially love the nurses that you can call day or night if you have any issues. My last nurse was Karla and i absolutely loved her. Their turn around time for me when i called, was within the an hour to hear back if it was a non-emergency and when it was an emergency I spoke to someone instantly. I recommend this office to anyone woman, pregnant or not & I do plan on going back for the next pregnancy as well!
