We had a wonderful hike through beautiful terrain. The bits of snow covered areas added to the charm!

One of my favorite places in the world. The NRTSP is the perfect spot to spend the day or a week, if you want to. Baker's Island has 7 camp sites- 3-7 are small, with room for 1-2 tents each and 1 and 2 are large sites that accommodate numerous tents. All are relatively separate from each other save for 6 and 7 so if you rent 6 (the most convenient site to get to), I would just rent 7 too. The whole park, especially the island, is peaceful and the river below the falls can be waded most of the year when the river is at its normal level. Fishing in the falls, you can pull walleye and smallmouth bass as well as the occasional brim.

The most absolute beautiful and serene views of the New River. We rode bikes to shot tower and then did the Claytor Lakes side (not all the way, no where near!) But it was wonderful. Will definitely do it again

    ..

This trail is beautiful. It was originally a railroad, they took up the rails & turned it into. A walking and bike trail. It runs along the new river witch runs south to north. There are some camp sites, parking lots & port-o- pots along the way.

Although we only made a short stop here we really liked the park. Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. There are restrooms, a nature center, a gift shop and amphitheatre. The park also has a horse livery, camping and boat ramps. There are several picnic tables - some are out in the open, some in shaded areas, and a couple alongside the New River. The views of the river are amazing. Didn't have a chance to do it this last time, but intend to return and do some kayaking. There is also access to the New River trail. The trail is open for biking, hiking, and horseback riding.

Started in Draper at the mercantile and bike shop and went little past Allisonia. Trail was in nice condition except for a few bumpy places. Lots of shade from trees helped us stay cool. Some trestle bridges need some planks replaced but otherwise were scenic.
Very pretty countryside. Look forward to checking out other stretches of the trail

Our go to place for some peaceful outdoor time. We enjoy playing in Peak Creek on the Pulaski stretch of the trail.

Beautiful outing. It is so peaceful. If one walks or rides quietly, there is a good chance to see deer or other animals.

We use this trail to bike during the week and the weekend. The weekdays are better since it is less used. The problems are the walkers who take up the entire trail or do not keep their dogs on a tight leash or the guys/gals on their 10 speed bicycle who travel at high speeds. Aside from the trouble spots, this trail is well marked and you can take side trails and go as long as you want. I typically do 25 to 35 miles. The further away you are from the busy parks, it becomes a lot less travelled.
