How are you giving back today on #GivingTuesday? Our Administrative Team volunteered this morning in the kitchen at Jacksonville's Clara White Mission. This holiday season, we encourage you to take a moment to pay it forward here in Jacksonville by supporting an organization or cause near and dear to your heart.

During this holiday we are thankful for the many heros around us who choose to donate their organs should the unthinkable happen to them. Last week hospital staff honored one such man whose life had ended but whose body would save the lives of several others. https://www.firstcoastnews.com/…/organ-donor-c…/77-615862382.

At this point you (and your little ones) have probably had your fill of Halloween candy. But, don't let your one day of candy indulgence scare off good nutrition habits. Here are a few ways to come off the sugar-high. bit.ly/2RtzaiV

Started out at the Kernan and Atlantic ER this past Friday night and was later transfered to the main ER and admitted. My experience was fantastic. I encoutered only one staff person with less than exemplary bed side manner and my contact with him was limited. Everyone else from ER nurses and floor nurses to the ER dr and OB dr I saw were fantastic. I have zero complaints about my treatment and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thanks Memorial staff for making a very tough 24 hours bearable.

So I see 1st hand how things are ran at Memorial. Behind the scenes you may as well say because I have worked here 10+ yrs. When my 23yr old son had sudden chest pains after being sick, my 1st thoughts was something isn't right. This is my baby boy and although I thought he was just dehydrated I knew he needed evaluated. It end up being way more serious than we thought. His heart enzymes extremely elevated. Heart attack? Infection? I had no clue but here I find myself a momma, not a Nurse. So scared for my baby. There ER never once dismissed that he was only 23 with zero medical history. They worked him up as if he was the only patient there. At this time they had no clue I even worked there . Not that I've ever seen this matter. My trust in this hospital and these people come from a true place. It come from seeing how they care for ordinary people. Seeing all the miracles preformed. Seeing all the compassion. I have to say with it being the weekend and knowing that on the weekend some departments are only On Call, I was a little worried. All my fears were put to rest when Dr Pham the cardiologist told he understood my concerns, he too was concerned with those results, and it being the weekend would never hinder the care my son would receive. He said if he had to Cath him then, he would. He explained to me everything. That he really thought it was viral infection that got to his heart but that he had himself had a daughter and is very thoroughly monitoring my son even from home. The Echo tech was actually home and was called back in to do a stat Echo. She was so pleasant. Dr Lu also went above and beyond. I'd like to think because I work there but I have seen him many times calling families to inform them of a loved ones condition. I have seen all the extra he puts into his patient care. I felt so at ease knowing he was caring for my son. This care and urgency had nothing at all to do with me being Memorial family but had everything to do with just simply caring for a person in need. The care goes beyond running a hospital. It's about the situation, it's about the person, it's about there need for help, it's about education, it total care. Patient and Family. When it come to my child, my only concern was where can I take him that I know he'll receive ultimate care? Not only from a Nurse standpoint but a Mom standpoint and there is not a single hospital in the world I would have brought him to instead. I just wanted to say thank you to all the nurses and especially Dr Lu and Dr Pham for saving my baby boy. To the techs, the department that came in from home, the dietary, the house keeping, literally everyone who just simply and honestly Cared. I am so very grateful to Memorial and very proud to be part of the Memorial family.

Came into the er July 3rd with chest pains. Found out I have gallstones. Was amitted because my liver enzymes are elevated. No big deal. Didn't get to room till 6am July 4th. Had been here 5 1/2 hours by then. Got seen by the GI doctor. He wanted me to have some sort of mri. That was done about 1pm. This is where I get upset. HE LEFT WITHOUT CHECKING MY RESULTS. I get that it's July 4th but you should never leave when you know you'll have results soon. I'm not at home with my family including a 2 year old and 4 year old boys. Who wanted me to pinic with them tonight. Thank you for screwing up my plans. Not liked I planned to get sick. You suck.

We went to the urgent care center off of Atlantic after my boyfriend scalded himself with a cup of coffee and I must say, the customer service was just outstanding. We were in and out in maybe 10-15 minutes. He was in severe pain and they were caring and compassionate and took his needs seriously. Unbelievable for an ER!!

The ER staff (nurse) that I encountered was rude and angry about having to do her work load. She enter my room without so much as a greeting adjusted my bed as I was on the phone without so much as a warning and then was offend because I told her she sat it up so high she hurt my back she responded your mad because I sat you up.My response was yes because you could have asked me and I could have said what was comfortable. She walked out my room and slammed the door behind her .

This place is run by idiots! I came into the ER with a back injury, which I told them it could be a herniated disc because I have had one before. They took x-rays which was a waste of time because you can't see back/disc injuries that way, but whatever. I told them I took Lisinopril and they prescribed me 800 mg ibuprofen which I am not even supposed to take with that. I didn't even get to see a doctor, just a nurse practitioner with painted on eyebrows who could barely carry on a conversation. I bet the drug addict next to me had a better experience! This hospital is ghetto as hell!

I'm still here in the ICU. I came in late in the evening with an O2 level of 85 dropping significantly. With my airways extremely inflamed and swollen closed It dropped to 73 and I was about to hit the floor when I caught the attention of staff. Every single time I am here I have always had an amazing friendly experience. It was kinda weird getting rubbed down with wipes last night but whatever lol. I've visited plenty of hospitals in my life and this is the best one by far. Thank u for keeping me alive. Coulda died last night and u made sure I didnt.

Lack of communication. Tell you they are going to do something doesn't happen. Had issues with pain control for my daughter until I blew up and called everyone I could. Got much better but I have to stay on top of when meds are due. She came in for gall bladder attack/surgery on the 28th of Feb. which is usually day surgery. She's still here. Starting on 3rd week.

The cafeteria tried to charge me $367 for a bottled water. The cashier didn't bother to tell me my total before she swipped my card, so glad I checked my receipt before I left. They refunded the money but still, that shouldn't happen, and I had to nearly cause a scene to get the supervisor out to fix it.

I have very mixed feelings & I am a CNA myself. My husband has had many stays at Memorial & I have felt the need to stay with him all night every time. Very often they are understaffed. Once he had part of his colon removed and had a colostomy bag which filled to the point of busting off every 30 minutes. There was no PCT and the nurse told my husband, who was doped up with morphine, to call him every 30 minutes. I rushed home, grabbed a few things and got back within 30 minutes to find the bag busting loose. I had to make myself stay awake all night and call the nurse constantly. The staff was doing their best. They just simply did not have enough help! Now he is going back in for by-pass surgery. We are rethinking using Memorial for this procedure. We will speak with the surgeon on Monday to see how he feels about doing a surgery at Memorial as opposed to another hospital.

When people are taking things off of patients when they're sedated I think it's really bad especially when their elderly like my dad they took his ring off of him and it was a ring My Dead Brother gave him when my father wakes up he's going to have a heart attack and it's going to be memorial hospitals. Fault !!! I went to the administration and they told me there's nothing they can do about it the ring is just gone that's pretty bad when they don't keep an eye on their employees they need to set them up and see which ones are stealing from patients. I know some one else checked into the hospital and her suitcase and iPod was stolen and she is a nurse

This Hospital is so unorganized. Two weeks ago my Dad was scheduled for an Abdominal Arota Aneurism. Got there at 11, surgery at 1. Memorial didn't set up an Anisthesolost. Left at 3:30. Went back yesterday at 5:30 am, surgery was a little after 7. He was in recovery by 9:45. No problems with surgery. Yay. Stayed in recovery till 5:30, because there was no hospital room.

Called him this morning 7:15, Dice, nurses said everything looked good, he could go home. What in the world takes 4 plus hours to get discharged?

I hate this Hospital. My Mom passed here in 2009. I believe to this day if she would have even went to Shane's, she would be alive today. Are other hospitals as bad as this one?????

No good communication skills, so far all staff suck at that. No professionalism! My mother has been here since 12/7/17. No one has called give updates on her progress. So we decide to stay the night so we can be closer. Can't sleep in the CCU family lounge after 7am. No signs posted. This is not in the brochure. WTF. I can keep going. This place sucks and so far the staff do too.

My mother 86.. was in the heart center. We had great care from the CATS all the way up. Her Cardiologist works with Memorial so he was there to see her. Also I highly recommend that if at all possible have a 24 hour family watch if your loved one can take care of themselves or remember. We had myself..sister and brother. I took nights. My brother came in 7 am to 3 or 4. Then my sister came in. We kept one notebook to write everything! In it.stars to names times meds ect. we three also carry in our car in the wheel well. A plastic folder with a snap that has ALL info. Her history..medical.. her doctors and phone numbers a health care person. Who has total control and can sign for her. And the one we hope doesn't need to be used but is there. The DNR. At 86 she's had a wonderful life and she doesn't was to hang around if there is no hope. So I all. Our visit was great.
