Unbelievable. I felt like I was living in another dimension. The gardens were amazing and you can pick anything you want. Giant huge pools. Awesome events every single day, kid friendly, they had a salsa-making class, they have a cute reptile, the inside of the rooms are amazing. This place is great.

Very friendly staff, gorgeous views, landscape and relaxing ambience. Rooms were cozy and cute and clean. Pillows weren't my fave since I'm used to memory foam but it's a preference thing.

It's a great Marriott Time Share property. The rooms are nicely appointed, the location is awesome. The employees are wonderful and the grounds are beautiful.
Pros: Located next to the JW Marriott, you get use of all their facilities including their famous golf course used each year by the LPGA for their Founders Cup tourney, their lazy river pool, their restaurants, etc.
Located just up the road from the Desert Ridge Marketplace which provides ample dining and shopping opportunities. Both accessible by using the free Marriott shuttle.
Cons: you have to eventually leave this place and go back home.response / report this review -

Marriott"s Canyon Villas is one of our favorite vacation places. We keep coming back here as we have always had a wonderful time. We especially enjoy thew water features and our ability to go to the Marriott Desert Ridge and the Lazy River.

We had an AMAZING and RELAXING weekend at Canyon Villas this past weekend. So relaxing to spend time next to their beautiful pools. The staff got to know us. They remembered our names and interacted with us on each encounter! The prices are pretty reasonable for Scottsdale AZ. The rooms are very spacious and modern. The grounds were kept very clean. We will definitely return!

If you like Marriott hotels and service don't stay at this one. They are a separate company and their service people want to make sure you know that every time you ask for help with something. It all started when I called the hotel and asked if they could upgrade my room since they were not that busy. (Plenty of rooms to chose from online) The told me they are not a part of Marriott, therefore my platinum status is really worth nothing. They transferred me to reservations.. a half hour later they say you need to speak to the hotel.I show up at the hotel and ask them if they can upgrade my room.,.they say you need to call reservations.What! You want me to step away from the registration desk and call reservations? Really? So I finally get them to upgrade my room and they charge me double for a one bedroom rather than a studioOK, whatever. We get to the room unpack our stuff in the kitchenette and then realize there is no mattress in the room. We call down and they say you're going to have to exit that room and wait in the 108-degree weather before we can get you another room. "That is our Policy" After standing in the heat sweating like crazy we finally got sick of waiting for them to bring us a key we send one of our people to the front desk. They hadn't even left the front desk yet.they said: "sorry we got busy". WOW! So they upgraded us to a two bedroom suite and charged us full price for their mistake. Triple what we had booked originally. After mentioning this horrible service to them they decided to send a cheap bottle of wine and a $75 credit and that doesn't even cover one night of the over priced upgrade. Marriott should be ashamed to put their name on this place.

Beautiful resort with plenty of activities including a 18 hole Golf Course. The rooms have different sizes but the service is excellent! Overall great stay for families and couples.

I stay here every year for a week long reunion in June, and I love it. The grounds are well kept, the activities all week are free and well thought out and fun, the staff is great, the games throughout the resort are really nice, the rooms are perfect, and the pools are great.
It's hot in June, but it's the best time for our family. This year none of the misters were working which was a big bummer, but they usually are. The grounds were nice, very green and well groomed.
When you check in you get a list of all of the activities for the week. Most of them are free but not all, and some of them you have to reserve a spot for like salsa making. Some other fun activities are the scavenger hunt, candy bar bingo, ice cream making, and so on.
For the most part, the staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I don't usually have any issues so I haven't had to deal with that end of things.
The smoothies at the pool are amazing. Get the peaches and cream, so good. The pools are really nice. You get the main pool which is deeper and has volleyball and basketball. It also has a waterfall which is cool, but it is so noisy. They also have a quiet pool, more of a spa/pool for adults. Then there is the lizard lagoon for kids, but that is going to be remodeled. You also get access to the pools at the JW resort across the street, and they have a lazy river.
All around the resort are little games like corn hole and ping pong. They are in pretty good shape considering the weather. The pool tables though are shot, not really worth playing. The felt is buckled and loose, and they aren't level.
The rooms are really nice, they have a full kitchen, and lots of sleeping areas. Everything is clean and well kept. The beds sucked though, my main reason for the loss of a star. Several years ago the beds were nice, now they crown so high in the middle you fall off the bed if you're not holding on.
Needless to say, I will keep coming back. They just need to fix their beds and hopefully the misters are back up and running!response / report this review -

The rooms are up to date, with nice sheers behind black out curtains for the best of both worlds for lighting. The staff seem to know what they are doing and there are plenty of options for food activities. Would come again, especially the week after Easter, as it is pretty quiet!

Awesome resort. Made a 1 night trip and wish we had stayed longer to use all the amenities. It had to homelike feel of a Residence Inn but in classy establishment. Amazing place to visit

We stayed here for 8 days in July. We had some rough bumps within 24 hours of checking in & were concerned we had made a bad choice. However, Alex Cochran, the manager, went above and beyond to help us & ensure our stay was a positive experience. For this reason, and the fact that the Villas (coupled with the JW access) is a wonderful, fun & clean resort, we will be frequently going back.
The DR Villas are a gem for people with young kids. Our kids loved this place & never got bored. Also, they have decent activities & optional water areas to make the visit more exciting for families. Security is good.
The only reason I'm giving 4 & not 5 stars is because of the issue we had when we booked golf at this resort. They will not shuttle you to the golf clubhouse in a golf-cart if you miss the shuttle bus. We didn't find this acceptable & we've never experienced this before at any other resort in the world. It was very nice and good location. The room was very nice. Its located freeways 101 and exit 31. The service was very nice. The hotel was big an huge. There is golf club near by hotel.
