I stay here as a travel nurse. Lovely indoor pool and hot tub, clean rooms, cheapest rates in town.
Some of the most deplorable disturbingly reckless idiots ( who I can't call "criminals," because that implies they exhibit criminal behavior or achievements. ) are allowed to do as they please so long as they line the pockets correctly to be overlooked by staff. Oh & expect to get pulled over/see people doing drugs in the parking lot, too. I wouldn't utilize the pool, either. It's a well known place of "operation" for Parkersburg's most openly working as hooker types & I highly doubt they have any chemical strong enough to treat the filth and DNA of several that winds up in the pool & door knobs / phones and even the remotes that get touched by & KEEP IT IN MIND after they have their hands doing whatever sexual service they supplied to their customers - EW. BACKPAGE girls typically work out of here, I know this because I have some semi-pathetic male friends who shovel out their cash to these women who "date," them at this establishment several times a month, between here & the Red Roof for 3 certain females who aren't at all embarrassed by broadcasting their willingness to sell their bodies to strangers for the least amount of money to support their drug habits - Wear gloves if you stay here & don't bring a black light, unless you want a better idea at just how much DNA is splattered everywhere -
Very close too 2 different strip clubs
No stars for me. It's was gross. Dirty. And the people at the front desk completely weirded me out. Our room wasn't clean. It looked like someone actually took a dump (#2) on the bedside lamp shade. All the room furniture looked as if it was found on the side of the road. As excited as we was to actually get in the pool or hot tub that was a BIG negative. The tiles on the inside of the pool was broken off and visually hazardous. The light in the hot tub was completely hanging out with EXPOSED WIRES, again, HAZARDOUS. The carpet in the room DIRTY. The floor in the room bathroom DIRTY. The shower walls even more DIRTY. When I googled hotels in the area the pictures on the website looked pretty decent. Don't let it fool you. Those pictures are obviously from years ago and the hotel needs a complete over haul. I suppose my worst complaint is we only had 2 wash cloths (no big deal, right? Not so much). I understand housekeeping only putting 2 wash cloths in the rooms. HOWEVER, when we needed more (because we showered when we got there and was wanting to shower before bed) I went to the lady at the front desk, and requested 2 more wash cloths. She clearly stated "sorry, we only allow 2 wash cloths per room" . HUH?????? I then proceeded to tell her that I would be more than happy to bring down the 2 already used wash cloths to get 2 fresh clean ones to shower. And once again she stated "sorry, I can't but I can get u a clean bath towel" . So at this point I walked off (furious) back to my room with all intentions of soaping up a big bath towel to wash myself. Since that's basically the option I was given. However in her defense, she arrived at my room door 15-20 minutes later and handed us 2 wash cloths (which was obviously a huge inconvenience and was breaking the hotel rules) Thanks so much for that! HOWEVER, what type of establishment basically makes you beg for 2 wash cloths, makes you get pissed off (if it only was 15/20 minutes), and acts as if we was the inconvenience of her day. We dealt with all the above (for less than 24 hrs) because we was in from out of town due to a family member being in the hospital, and we was completely exhausted. But guaranteed to NEVER happen again.
In conclusion, thank god for the Blennerhassett Hotel that we spent the rest of our trip at, for about 30 more bucks a night we was treated like royalty. And the hotel staff didn't treat us like a inconvenience. It was CLEAN, peaceful, and beautiful. The Magnuson Hotel should go take a visit to the Blennerhassett Hotel and learn how to treat their guest and how a hotel should be ran.
And I only gave one star because not giving any at all wasn't an option.
Hotel needs major overhaul. Ceiling in first floor hallway leaking. Floor on the 2nd floor was weak in hallway (felt like it would fall in). Manager going into occupied rooms unannounced. Paid for 2 nights (only stayed 1). Got home and found hotel had made an unauthorized charge to my account (total equaled another night - 3 in total). Called to dispute charge and manager kept saying wasn't them. Ended up calling bank for fraudulent charges. Very unhappy with this hotel. Recommend staying elsewhere.
We booked a smoking room here. Also booked it because it states a continental breakfast. We get there.. Thought it was nice until. 0 smoking in any room. Next day.. 0 breakfast!! Not even coffee!! I'm planning to dispute this For my money back. Very angry!
