I took in a dog for a friend of my daughters to find her a forever home. Well I ended up having a severe allergy to her. Took her to my vet and groomer tried everything my vet saidnit must be something in the Newfoundland breed. I surrendered her to the humane society thinking I was doing the right thing. Well because I surrendered her they will not approve me for an adoption. There concern was if I get another dog am I going to be allergic to that one. I told the staff I've had dogs pretty much my whole life. I was looking to adopt a pit lab mix. Tried explaining to them that I've had a few labs before and just had to put my pit down a couple weeks ago so I know I'm not allergic to either breed. So because I done what I thought was the right thing to do I'm being punished by the facility and I'm not allowed to adopt an puppy now because of it.

The facility was very clean the staff was very friendly and it was very evident that they take great care of the animals. The adoption process was very organized and professional. We ended up adopting Matty who is now named Duke. Duke is very laid-back and has a very great disposition and has been a wonderful addition to our family. I recommend this shelter facility to anyone. My husband and I have been searching around all of the local shelters and found this to be one of the most professional.

We adopted Catherine, now called Tillie, last week. Tillie was a rescue from a horrible hoarding situation. You wouldn't know it. Today she's a beautiful big black goofy dog. I would like to thank the staff at LCH for nursing her back to health, both mentally and physically. You can tell the staff really cares about the animals and who they go home with. Thanks so much!!

Great facility, we took home Turk and Greyson (Ramsey wasn't a good fit name-wise) on 8/25/17 and they have been phenomenal. Was surprised how fast they warmed up in their new home. They're currently next to each other on the couch next to me. Thank you guys so much!

We were denied approval to get a puppy due to "containment issues!" Although when we tried to explain misunderstandings there was no reasoning given besides "containment issues," we have an outdoor hunting dog but we were looking for an indoor family dog for us and our 4 kiddo to love! AND WE WERE DENIED without good explanation!

The facility is AMAZING. Fenced areas, a parklike walking path for the dogs. They think of every detail for the comfort of the animals in their care . The staff is knowledgeable and compassionate. There are all sizes and breed mixes of dogs and cats!! You will have no problem finding your new bear friend here😊

This is an amazing no-kill shelter. They truly love the animals and want to place them in loving homes. Well supported by the community, they have an amazing private dog walk park.

We picked out a wonderful Great Dane/ Pitbull mix that the staff at the shelter really loved. He has been an amazing companion for almost a year now. The shelter was very thorough. They do background checks to make sure you don't have a history of animal neglect or other things that might put the animals in harms way. All of their animals have up to date vaccinations and a clean bill of health. They also include micro-chipping in the adoption cost. The facilities are very clean, and they're a huge improvement over the small old building on Hopewell Dr. The fenced-in "Bark Park" behind the building is a nice way to run around with the dogs to get to know them. I would highly recommend the Licking County Humane Society to anyone looking for a companion animal.
