It's a beautiful place. I was awestruck when I walked in and how pretty it is. We were there for my company's Christmas party so it was decorated and it looked absolutely gorgeous. The staff was very nice. I wasn't impressed with the food. I don't eat meat but people who ordered the beef thought it was undercooked. Personally, I like it red in the middle so I thought it would have been good when I ate meat my husband got the mahi and he thought it was very dry I got risotto with was not cooked very well and by the time they brought it out it was very dry and the sauce got sick it just clumps on my plate and I literally had to cut it apart. People were asking for second baskets of rolls because there was not much food to fill you up. I realize the fancier the place the less food you get but it was not enough to satisfy an appetite. They did not give you enough butter for the bread so you had to eat your second roll bone dry. The place was lovely, our servers were very nice and my company always throws an awesome party so it was a really good time. I realize the food is a big part of the party and not many people I spoke to were impressed with their meal but as I said, it's always a good time when my employer has their parties. I was impressed with everything except the main course. The appetizers were good.

This hotel was fabulous. The organization I work with used it this past weekend and it's was phenomenal!!! The service was great, they are very accommodating and the rooms are very spacious. The views are magnificent as well. I had a great time and wish to come back to do some more exploring in the area.

Absolutely love the ambiance and festive decorations at the Marriott. It's a fantastic place to spend the Holidays. The happy hour specials are also fantastic and a great start to the night. However, the food is lacking. We had to return two appetizers because our pita bread was burnt and the shrimp tasted like rubber. The Marriott used to be known for their cuisine but not sure what happenedlately we've had some pretty bad food experiences.

Breakfast with SantaIt was one of the worst events I've ever attended. The staff was behind on setting the event up and were not prepared to serve for 200 reservations. There wasn't enough food for at least 50 or more people who stood waiting in a buffet line for longer than 45 minutes for food to be replenished. Staff informed guests that they were not prepared and ran out of food. Service staff was obviously annoyed and frustrated, while trying to avoid guests dissatisfactions. There wasn't any management or supervision on site until long after the problems occurred. One suggestion for the breakfast buffets, consider setting up a separate "toast station". Having a toaster in the middle of a buffet line causes a slow down and does not keep a line moving smoothly. The best part of this event was Santa! He looked like the "real" Santa.

Did not stay as a guest but attended a conference event. Beautiful space with very nice and attentive staff and a convenient parking garage. My one complaint was the men's rooms; nice enough but no locks on some stall doors and the urinals flushed with the force of a tropical storm (with wet floors to match). They're automatic flush so.

All around great hotel! Very big and modern facility in a fantastic historic city with lots to see and do. Very clean rooms with modern furnishings and technology. Price is not bad and parking is ample and very easy to navigate. Friendly staff and lots of food choices. Really nice conference rooms with plenty of space for large expos and event.

Our experience with the Marriott in Penn Square was a disaster from start to finish. From the contract and initial booking a block of rooms, to the assistance with those rooms and our guests before arrival, to our guests experience at the Marriott - it was a miserable experience that almost ruined our wedding.
Blocking of the rooms – the Marriott was misleading and gave false information about the capacity of the hotel that weekend, and we were forced into a hard hotel block that could not possibly have worked for our needs. When we brought this information to the hotel’s attention, they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to help.
On top of that, some guests were told that they could book rooms Thurs-Mon but not Fri-Mon which doesn’t make any sense, and I also had a number of guests who requested connecting rooms for their children who had to call multiple times to get confirmation that the rooms would actually be connecting – and then when they checked in were told those rooms were not available and not guaranteed.
Upon arrival that weekend, some guests did not receive the welcome bags upon check in that we meticulously put together and that had all of the information for the wedding weekend schedule.
As far as the guests stay, I heard complaints of noise and non-smoking rooms stinking of smoke. There was apparently a conference at the hotel that weekend that the hotel was not equipped for – people had to wait 20 mins for the elevator and were late to events. And guests who called for directions were told the wrong directions to the parking garage.
Stay at the Lancaster Arts Hotel instead.response / report this review -

I was here to work for a conference in the hotel. The hotel is nice and they are even updating the carpets to keep it looking good. The rooms are great and they have a friendly staff. The only downside is that the hotel has no free wifi in the rooms. Overall a great place to stay in Lancaster.

I recommend using a boutique hotel in Lancaster City. I'm a resident, and I'm very disappointed my tax dollars are helping subsidies for a hotel that does not support local residents or vendors. I called two months ago to book a block of rooms for my wedding (8 months from now) and had to call several times before I got anyone to call me back. Once I provided information to the booking agent, she said she would get back to me about pricing. I never heard from her.
I called today to find the rates for my guests and was told there are no rooms available because of an out of town convention scheduled for the same weekend. She advised that I would 'have a hard time' in the city finding hotel rooms because it is a large convention. I, of course, started to panic. I called Lancaster Arts Hotel and reserved a block of rooms right away.
There were several rooms available to book at via the Marriott website for the day of my wedding. I am incredibly disappointed that they were unaccommodating simply because I was not a large convention.response / report this review -

The hotel is great, beautiful lobby and standard rooms. Minus one star for the most inconvenient/small/unmanaged system of cars pulling up to the very small circle drive where valet is and congesting the process. The drive quickly fills up with the valet not moving cars along and you are left stuck on the street just trying to pull into the hotel to check in

Very nice hotel with cozy rooms. Staff was very pleasant and the restaurant served good food. Elevators seem a bit dated with screens that don't work in them, and we're a bit finnicky with their functioning.

I attending the Home school Convention downtown this weekend at the Marriott. The hotel was beautiful and very accommodating. It was my first time in the hotel and now I'm looking forward to spending the night and recommending them to others.

Over all love this hotel. Awesome old historic building repurposed from a turn of the century clothing store to a modern beautiful hotel. Positives: Awesome room (size,view,bed,large TV,amenities); room service food hi-quality, large portions, quick (pizza will feed two); pool clean, large pool area, quiet w/music piped in, fresh towels, long hours (closes at 11PM); nicely equipped fitness room with attached yoga room open 24/7, there's even fresh fruit for a energy boost! If you want to park yourself to save on the whole valet process if you plan on going in and out, there is a city garage attached to the hotel via the little sky bridge, get the ticket programed at the desk for your length of stay so you can come/go 24/7 (the hotel convention center is a joint private public venture),Didn't try the in house restaurant (next time for sure), but the menu looked good 👍. Lastly location, location, location! Negatives: Low lighting in bathroom, pool water was chilly, this after I was assured at time of reservation and check in that this issue had been corrected! Lastly creamer in room had gone sour. Outstanding mention for Jordan at the desk. Not 5 stars.Almost lowered it to 3 due to pool water temperature, when I specifically addressed it prior to making my reservation due to a detailed review such as this!

A lovely hotel right in the middle of downtown. The hotel itself looks great, the rooms are very nice, and the staff friendly. The food at the restaurant/bar in the hotel was very good, and there are a ton of great restaurants within walking distance-far more that I could try in one visit.
