This was a well priced (at least what we paid) room. It is set up similar to a motel vs a hotel. With the room entrance outside instead of indoor. The room itself was fine. A few complaints. First off, the AC unit in the room had a bad smell coming from it when you first turned it on. Second, the cushioned seat in the room was incredibly uncomfortable. You could feel a wooden bar on the bottom through the cushion. And my last complaint is the shower. It was only mostly clean. The floor of the shower was a little stained greyish black from lots of uses. And the water pressure was not satisfactory. It took triple the time it normally takes me to wash my hair.
The Continental breakfast was decent. Nothing amazing. It was your average Continental spread. Bread and bagels with toasters to use. Butter and jam.Small selection of fruit. Waffle makers. Juice/milk dispenser. Cereal. Hard boiled eggs. Scrambled eggs. Sausage. Mini muffins.
The pool area was very nice. Great jacuzzi and the pool is heated. Had towels ready for the taking at the pool, which was convenient. They have a working elevator. As well as a miniature gym to use.
All in all, it was a decent stay. I have picky taste for hotels. But this was good for the price we paid going through a third party.

Fantastic service and the staff is exceptional. Jamaal and Katie are great and were more than happy to answer questions about the area and things to do that are in our genre of entertainment.

The 'housekeeping' staff are impeccable at what they do and will not hesitate to help you at the drop of a hat, (or glass bottle 😊😊).

We greatly appreciate their service and will use and recommend them to anyone.

Super friendly staff. Good breakfast-- very nice variety for a continental. We especially appreciated that there was bacon and eggs, and more than one waffle maker. The rooms seemed really large. Comfy beds. Loved the fire pit.

My family stayed in the king suite. It had a king size bed on one side and bunk beds on the other side for the kids. It also had two restrooms, a mini fridge and microwave. What a great mini vacation. Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while vacationing in San Diego with our dog for our anniversary. They are very pet friendly with no deposit and your fur babies can stay in the room as long as they are well behaved thats a big plus. The hotel is located next to a Ramada and Holiday Inn Express which is very convenient. The beach is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel which is great. As for the rooms they are average, decent beds and fridge and microwave included which was good. The free breakfast was great as well. Eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. The person working the front desk was great and I thank him for it. Only issue is that the carpets in the rooms are extremely dirty. Walking around barefoot you will see the bottom of your feet turn black after just walking for a few mins. I would suggest the hotel do a regular shampooing of rooms and they will be great.

Decent size room and dog friendly. The little grass area had a dog bag dispenser which I thought was a plus. The breakfast was decent as well. A downside would be the carpet in the room. When walking barefoot on the carpet my foot would get very dirty which is something I've never experienced in other hotels. Other than that, it was a good stay.

It said on our reservation that we had four occupants but every day they would only give us two towels, so every single day we had to go back down and ask for two more towels. They didn't refill our tissue when they came to service our room. Another trip to the front desk!
The pool was so dirty I didn't even want to put my feet in (lots of bugs floating around)
The breakfast was overcrowded and underwhelming. The premade oatmeal was rubbery and concealed, while there was a line of ten people to get hot water to make instant oatmeal. The fresh fruit was not fresh at all. Most food disappeared around 9am and wasn't restocked for the remaining 30 minutes of the breakfast. It was a sad selection that just dwindles down as the morning progresses.
There was a woman who may or may not have been staying there sitting out on the stairs smoking pretty much all day. Whenever we returned back to the hotel she'd be there.

We usually pick La Quinta since they are dog friendly.
Our first room was on the 3rd floor at the very end. The A/C was from the 1970s and not working well. Maintenance came and swapped it out with one from the 1980s. It worked better. The highway traffic was so loud you could hear it with the a/C on, the TV on and the window closed. No hope of sleeping with the windows open.
They agreed to move us to another room on the first floor and gave us a decent discount on a second room for our Son.
First floor was great for the dogs, however we are now next to the house keeping break room and laundry room. Every housekeeper rolls by sending the dogs off all day long.
Then they had some sort of leak and we had a carpet cleaning Truck service outside our door for hours. Again no sleeping with the windows open.
The breakfast was fresh and decent. More than just waffles. Bacon one day and sausage 2 other's.
Only about a mile from the beach.

I'm so impressed by this hotel. We arrived at noon which way way early for check I'm but they allowed us to check in early. The room was spacey and had bunk beds for the kids. There are 2 bathroom which was super helpful. Great job la quinta Carlsbad!

Great hotel! Would stay again and again. The only thing i would change would be is i wish there was a table so we could eat meals on. We had to eat on the bed. Great employees too!

The hotel is easy to find, just off the I-5. And because it's so close to the highway. The rooms are very noisy. The room itself was decent. Although there were some small issues with it. The door was drafty. The window coverings didn't cover the window completely. We got the suite with an attached room for the kids. The attached room had a bunk bed which was nice. But the ladder for the bunk bed wasn't secure. The spare room didn't have plenty of space so our son could play while we were there. Essentially it was a full size hotel room without the door. So it came with its own bathroom. The bathrooms are very spacious. The showers seemed like they were meant for short people as the shower head is much lower than I'm used to. I barely fit under the shower head, and I'm only 5'7". It's very close to the Carlsbad State Beach Park, so close you could walk there. And it's less than 10 minutes from Legoland. Plenty of parking in the lot. The breakfast provided in the morning is great. It has fresh fruit, waffles, eggs, sausage, yogurt, coffee, cereal, juice and milk. And a fairly large dining area. They do have a swimming pool by the office. As well as an outdoor lounge with a fireplace. If you're still at the hotel for other meal times, less than 5 minutes drive away are several other restaurants ranging from fast food to sit down table service dining. Overall, La Quinta was nice. My biggest gripe is that it is so noisy since it's so close to the highway. It's located on a street with about 5 other hotels, so I'm sure they all have that issue. I would stay here again because the price was fair, especially if you need the extra space for your kids to have their own room. Also, the housekeeping doesn't do a fantastic job. There was trash under the AC units and behind the dressers that was missed before we checked in and 2 more times during the stay.

Maintenance is sorely lacking, rooms are very small, bathroom is a closet.shower is like a Luke warm pee drizzling out of the tap, with a nice green patina growing out of the head. Staff is not friendly. Worst la Quinta I have ever stayed in. It was however clean, so we stayed. But WiFi was completley useless, had to use the hot spot on my phone to check email, it was that bad. 3 star hotel my butt, about as good as a motel 6.
