Nice people, clean, reasonable price:)
We are the proud parents of a student who got into the U of T Austin. We are from NJ and are well-traveled. We are here for our first campus visit. The LaQuinta is located about 5 miles from campus, is very reasonably priced, clean, and the people are very nice. Kat, who works the front counter was friendly and accommodating. There is a basket of trial size toiletries on the counter in case you forgot something (the manager thought that was important). They offer free continental breakfast that is an assortment of fruit, yogart, prepackaged muffins, bagels, waffles, juice, and coffee. I read the negative comments after I booked the hotel and can see where some folks would think that this hotel may not have the anemeties of a more costly place; however, for the price range the LaQuinta on North 35 at University area is not a bad deal at all. It’s low key, basic, but it is clean, cheap, and you can get a decent nice sleep before you cat out on the town.

Got the reservation wrong. Needed two beds, and only had rooms with one, despite our reservation that we made on THEIR site showing two doubles. The most basic thing you can do as a hotel is get that detail correct. Pictures are very misleading. Some rooms may be in better condition, most are seriously, SERIOUSLY, worn down.

Decent room but the location 5 levels of interstate, homeless folks asking for money, ladies of the evening arguing with guys about payment in front of my door, weed being smoked on the balcony near my room and yes I complained, they said they'd look into it

I didn't really expect much when I saw the hotel, but I was kind of surprised to see a nice clean room.

The rooms were pretty clean and the beds were comfortable. The one thing that bothered me was the high bath tubs, which were unusual, but didn't really cause any problems for me. Plenty of power plugs, too.

There wasn't much to eat at Breakfast, but it was still satisfactory.

The man who checked us in was very patient and helpful. He got us checked in quickly and showed us where our rooms were. The rooms were very clean and spacious. My bathroom had a very musty smell, but other than that it was great. Even though the hotel is located next to the highway, it's very quiet. The continental breakfast was typical and filling. I was very impressed with my stay.

I stayed here for ACL. It was fairly convenient to get to the festival and the rates were cheap. I pretty much just slept here. The beds we're pretty comfy and rooms provided enough space for my friends day and I. I'd recommend this place if you are looking for a relatively cheap stay somewhat close to downtown Austin.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. The area was quiet. If we ever need to stay in Austin again we will definitely stay here.

The king size bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in while at a @ budget inn. The bathroom was surprisingly clean and out did the bedroom. Parking lot is ok. Truckers parked in the parking lot. Flat panel tv. Decent breakfast. Do not expect eggs and bacon, but yogurt, fruit and bread.

Room was clean and cool in the height of summer. Stairs were broken directly outside room which were being worked on in the night. Workers were quiet but welding was rather bright in the dead of night

Great location cheap rates. Good breakfast. Overall great value for the price. Only thing i could critic is lack of microwave and fridge in rooms. I'd pay another 15bucks a night for that

Right off the highway, very literally so. The hotel shows a bit of wear and tear: dents in doors, dated interiors, etc., but there is WiFi and a sizeable TV in the room in terms of more modern accommodations. The Continental breakfast selection is good, with healthy options available and decent coffee. Overall, apart from it being predictably noisy once the city woke up in the morning (the rooms are all accessed from the outside), a very serviceable and comfortable place to stay when passing through Austin.

Although it was a low quality room, it was what I expected based on price and reading prior reviews.

However, my poor rating is due to a very poor customer service experience with the general manager, which left me highly aggravated. I'm not necessarily aggravated over the outcome, but I am aggravated and disappointed with the overall experience.

After leaving a message in the morning and not receiving a return call, I was finally able to reach a manager in the evening. Once on the phone, the manager wouldn't even give me the opportunity to clearly voice my issue and was yelling and interrupting me before I could explain. This behavior was just the beginning of the customer service experience. I would have appreciated a more professional response to the matter even if she wasn't going to change her stance on the issue.

During our call, I paused for a moment to regroup because every time I would speak she would interrupt me; during this pause, it sounded as if she put the phone down, although she may have just held it and would not reply to me when saying, "hello", etc. I could hear people speaking in the background, so I know we weren't disconnected, but no one returned to the phone. After holding for 3-5 minutes, I did hang up and called back. When I asked her why she put the phone down, she said that she did not hang up on me and stated that I hung up on her or we were disconnected. She repeatedly said she would never hang up on a customer. And she even made it a point to tell me that there are cameras in the lobby and two associates working with her and they would vouch for her that she did not put the phone down. I'm shocked at this behavior, which again leaves me speechless.

All rooms face to the outside, but the rooms themselves were very clean and comfortable. There was a little damage to the wall behind the air conditioner, but I only noticed that after lowering the thermostat. Both check-in and checkout were smooth. I didn't get the chance to try their breakfast.
