"You get what you paid for" truly applies to this La Quinta, which was more like a motel than a hotel. We had booked it for our weekend in Austin because we wanted to be downtown but pay under $200. It was a decent place and in a good location, but it is definitely dated and needs upgrading. The room was decent: good size, decent bed, but the heater/AC unit couldn't make up it's mind - it was very cold that weekend so we had the heat set to 72, but instead of shutting off when the temp reached that, the AC would kick in and blow out cool air Unfortunately, because it was like a motel all the doors opened to air (no hallways in the building), so we could hear everything going on in the busy street in front of the hotel.

Front desk staff was very nice and valet people were friendly. Location was great rich next door to the capital. The room look like it was redone so everything was nice, I would stay here again next time I go.

We picked the La Quinta because of it's proximity to the Frank Erwin Center. This hotel is like a well worn coat, not so good looking anymore but still keeps you warm. Our room was quiet even though we faced a busy intersection. Service was fine. Room was clean. Free breakfast was pretty ordinary. Parking is extra.

It was a nice stay for the price we got it at. The service was nice and friendly with a speedy check in. You have to use the valet to park at the hotel which cost $27! A bit much, but worth it for longer stays than what I did which was for a night. But it's a flat rate and you can leave and come back any time, 24hrs.
The continental breakfast was nice and complimentary.
Of course it was also loud, but your also in the middle of the city. I wouldn't stay on the first floor again. Could hear people walking or rolling suitcases above. It also had pretty thin walls.
Still not too bad.

Good hotel. My only issue is that parking is valet-only, and it's $25/night, which isn't included in the room rate. I didn't see any mention of this when booking. I actually might have picked another hotel if I had known about it as the 2 main factors i was considering were price and location. I do have to say.this was an excellent location. It is a 1-2 minute walk to the capitol. We have been walking EVERYWHERE.

So the staff is phenomenal and if you only need a place to rest your head at night cause you have been at ACL all weekend then yeah this place will do. But in my room I have seen baby roaches big roaches and the smoke alarm went off at like 1am for no reason. I really feel this hotel needs some kind of remodeling I’m sure the employees would appreciate it just as much as the people who stay here. Show you appreciate your employees and the people who stay here and you will go a lot further with this place. The employees is why I gave it 3 stars but if it wasn’t for them I would only give 1

Very good for what it was. Room was super clean and bed was comfortable :)

The housekeeping person, Ana, left a card that said she cleaned it with love, lol

It was quiet and comfortable. The shower had good pressure and hot water. The breakfast was good and the coffee wasn't bad at all.

Friendly helpful staff and easy valet parking.

I stayed here for one night and very loud refurbishment work started in the adjoining room at around midnight. When I knocked on the door the woman behind it first pretended she couldn't speak English and then told me she had 'no control over how much noise was being made' and when I asked what work they were doing she said 'Our jobs'. Great, thanks for that helpful response!
It was a very basic room in an old hotel, but we were fine with that since it was just one night and only a place to rest our heads, but as it turned out we couldn't even sleep! All in all a pretty bad experience.

This is an older hotel. It's major perk is it's proximity to the capital and down town. The room I was in had an unpleasant smell but was in decent repair. The breakfast was poorer fair than what I come to expect from the many other La Quinta locations in which I have stayed. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There is a $25 parking fee per day with valet. You can drop off and pick up your vehicle as often as you like.

The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. We got extra towels at no extra charge. Valet parking is $23, but pay attention to the charges, because anyone can give your room number by mistake and they will charge your card. It happened to us. Centralized location, within walking distance from the Frank Erwin center, which is where our concert was. Walking distance from 6th Street. They have a pool, but closes at 10pm. Quiet, and peaceful with reasonable rates.

Place is dilapidated and worn. Be prepared to get slapped with surprise parking fees because this place has no free parking anywhere nearby! Elevators seemed unsafe to the point that they closed one down for the three days we were there. Staircases smelled of uni kid vomit and piss. Bedrooms are small and worn, with no fridge. Ac is cold, though. Breakfast was very limited even for a continental. Honestly, the staff at the front desk seem to be the only people doing their jobs well here. They were quite friendly, welcoming and accommodating! Kudos to them!

Our room was very clean, the staff was super friendly, especially Renee and the other ladies whose names I didn't get, they were very attentive and ensured we got what we needed. The prices were fairly reasonable and the only downfalls I had with this place is that the elevator definitely needs some maintenance and you have to pay for parking each night. But overall my stay here was amazing. Oh! And the valet lady was also really great! Plus there's free breakfast, can't beat that.

Well, the first thing I see when I walk into my room was a sock, a Kleenex, and a skittle on the floor near the foot of the bed. Which told me the room had clearly not been sufficiently cleaned--especially the carpet. Second, if your room has windows facing to the north (looking at the Texas Association of Builders) almost every night you will be woken up at about 330am to a trash/recycle truck emptying dumpsters. I stayed Mon-Thurs night, and the only night a trash/recycle truck did NOT come empty trash/recycling was Wednesday night. Tuesday night they both come, recycle around 330am and trash around 545am. I wore Bose headphones to bed Tuesday night (ya know, just incase) and there was no drowning that out--IT IS LOUD! Parking is Valet ONLY, $27/day--which is ridiculous. I've found parking in downtown Los Angeles for half that price. I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton, but I was at least expecting to sleep. Unfortunately it's a prime location, so I doubt there's much incentive to make changes.

I'm all about the complimentary breakfasts at hotels. It's my favorite part of staying at a hotel! Mainly because I love eating eggs. However, when I think breakfast, my mind thinks: scrambled eggs or over easy. La Quinta had hard. Boiled. Eggs. And I mean these eggs were HARD boiled. The yolk was so tough to eat. Also, their bathrooms don't have locks on them. You just push and it opens.
