Stayed there in Oct 1976 ,it was very nice and my room was $18.00 a nite plus .72 for tax, we had a great time!

Just stopped by the LaPlaya Daytona Beach (12/20/2016) The hotel is now "Closed"
The sign on the door says "Until Further Notice" however the security guard told me that it is closed for good.
Hurricane Matthew damage was the last straw after a couple decades of gross mismanagement and complete neglect. Too bad. This was a nice place back in the 90's. Stayed many times & always had a lot of fun Sad
Regarding these Daytona resorts & hotels being allowed to fall into a state of disrepair to the point of being a health & safety hazard to guests; Where the hell is the City of Daytona Beach and their inspectors? These people are elected or hired & paid to ensure places like the LaPlaya are never allowed to get to the point of being uninhabitable.response / report this review -

I went here with all of my family. After traveling for nine hours, we went in with positive attitudes and it immediately changed after the woman at the front desk, Renee, was completely rude and even took the person standing behind us before us (and then ignoring us).
When I politely asked Renee why she did that, she gave me a huge attitude and said it was because I was on the phone (which I was simply on hold).
When I asked her for her name after the way she treated me, she said she was not allowed to give us her name. The only reason I got it was because she introduced herself as Renee when answering the phone.
I was extremely disappointed at my experience because of the lack of customer service and lack of kindness that this employee showed.
The people who cleaned the rooms smiled and checked up on me more than the person who works at the customer service desk. That should say a lot.response / report this review -

This hotel needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. We did have a nice view of the ocean but that was about it. The rooms were very old. The microwave and fridge were rusted out. We did not even feel safe putting our food in the fridge. We asked for kitchen ware to cook in the room and we were told very rudely by the front desk that if house keeping had any pots or pans she would check and let us know. She never let us now. We cut our stay short and found another hotel.

Amazing. This Hotel has been a great experience everything perfect, but the breakfast could do some improving. The hotel was nothing the reviews told us. There were zero roaches or bed bugs. There rooms on the lower levels however should be improved. My whole family got a room on the fifth level but my 1 cousin that got a room on the seventh. Her room had amazing beds,tv, and drawers. This vacation would've been the best if we had the same room but overall it was amazing

Not clean; cockroaches in kitchenette & bathroom areas. Not well maintained; equipment not working -- TV in my room does not work; there are 2 hot tubs in the pool area, only one is working. Faucet in kitchenette sink doesn't really turn off, so you have the drip all night long. Just found a big (thankfully dead) Palmetto bug in the middle of the floor when I just got back from the beach now. The beach is nice, but I don't feel good about the cleanliness. This hotel needs to be closed or completely redone.
