I hope corporate can see this review and the huge regret we have had this night. My grandfather just turned 80 years old and wanted to have his birthday dinner with our family at this restaurant. We called a week and a half in advance and spoke to Norma who informed us that they were not taking reservations and that we needed to arrive at 6pm to have a good chance for a table. We arrived at 5:45pm and waited nearly 3hrs watching people sit before us time after time in big and small groups. When we spoke to the manager Albert, he was extremely rude and disrespectful to my mother saying we just arrived shrugging us off. We confronted another assistant manager and told them our ordeal who asked if he could send us to another restaurant owned by the company. We have already invested 3hrs so chose to stay with the promise he would do what he could. He apologized on behalf of the manager Albert who i hope corporate can speak to and teach the importance of courtesy and manners. I am the Director of Marketing and Business Relations for a very huge company in Texas. I contemplated speaking to very powerful attorneys and judges here in Texas and or news to report the disrespect my family underwent. I went so far to offer to buy the bar if it would mean we could get seated soon. We're fortunate to be very well off and honestly would have gone to a very nice steakhouse had my grandfather not insisted in coming to this establishment. I really hope no one else gets mistreated, abused, or disrespected in the manner my family has.
The service here was great. The waiter was personable and efficient. My husband and I had the margaritas made with Don Julio. They were great. We also shared oysters a la margarita and pablano pepper stuffed with cheese and chorizo. The hubby also had me serenaded by mariachi.
15mins before we got our drinks & 45mins before we got our salty food, on a Wednesday. Wait staff tries hard. Food is disappointingly common even when your hungry. On the bright side the chips are good.
First time there.. great atmosphere super service food not so good, would go back to have a couple of drinks n the atmosphere but not for the food.
Nice and festive ambiance. Kids menu available. Good tasting chicken & beef fajita and well portioned, the 'for two' option was enough to take out leftovers for another meal. Cerveza Indio recommended.
Good food. Very busy place. Was not impressed with the oysters they served. Very small oysters for the price paid. Also ordered the jalapeno Caesar salad, Caesar dressing was pretty watery with little flavor. Husband loved his dish.
Me and my wife came here on our first day in San Antonio since we have one back in Dallas, but were disappointed when we received our food.
My wife's order was wrong, my beans were dry, flauta was a bit hard, and my "combination" meal was charged individually.
Food was a big disappointment, but the atmosphere and customer service was great. Server tried to fix food issues, and there were a couple of musicians asking to play songs, so that portion was pleasant.
Excellent food great atmosphere a slight wait on food but worth the wait AWESOME cocktails..highly recommended
Generous portions and reasonable prices. Very tasty! Fast, friendly service too. Fun being in the middle of the Historic Market.
Great food and wonderful service. Our server was Crystian and he was so pleasant and attentive. The baked Chicken was awesome and the salsa to die for. Can't wait to go back.
Atmosphere and service were great. Food was typical downtown tourist fare with a couple of standouts. The queso could have been better, I think it was just melted Velveeta with no add-ins. The roasted chicken was actually amazing with crispy skin and juicy meat. Enjoyed the visit and will be back.
If you only have one night in San Antonio
- this is the place to go!!!
Serving lovely fresh Mexican food that suits all taste buds there is something for everyone. The staff here are so attentive and friendly and we're happy to explain and recommend dishes off the menu to us. If we are ever in this area again we will be sure to visit! Easiest five stars I've given in a while!
In my recent visits to Texas, my family and I like take a trip to San Antonio and this is always our first stop! I've had a great dining experience the two times I went. The staff are impressive and attentive, they can memorize your order even if you're in a large group. I thought that was cool. I love how the first time I went there, we had a Mariachi band play to our group and they sang/played so well! The food was delicious, filling, and came in fairly large portions. I can't wait to go back when I visit Texas.
This restaurant is great! The food is very reasonably priced and the margarita was delicious and mixed perfectly; which is a good compliment seeing that I was once a bartender. I would definitely suggest going here if you are visiting and want to experience authentic Mexican dining and culture.
